Bob Graham on WellCare board

Bob Graham, former Democratic U.S. senator and Florida governor, has been named a director of the fast-growing Tampa-based WellCare Health Plans, which provides Medicare and Medicaid managed care plans to more than 2.25- million people in eight states. Graham, 70, received $250,000 worth of stock options for joining WellCare's board, plus another $250,000 worth of shares of restricted stock, which will vest over a two-year period. He will also receive compensation of $27,500 for service on the board, which met five times last year.

How dare he make money and be so corrupt as people suffer!!! How much is it enough Bob?

Where are all the Jeb bashers bashing Bob because he is on a board????

At least Bob Graham is a nice guy, and didn't spend his time railing against the government that did so much to help his family and wealthy friends.

Are you actually that stupid to believe that the Graham family did not make millions of dollars off the Government? Oh please you're pathetic.

It's called "likeability".
People like Bob Graham; even Jeb's own people admit he was short in that department.
It worked for Ronald Reagan, so....

Yeah, 9:36, but he wasn't always acting like government is the enemy, which was Jeb's mantra.

So because "you" don't like Jeb he is wrong for being on a corporate board and it's ok for Bob Graham because you do like him? I think they both left office with about 60% approval rating so it would seem somebody likes Jeb Bush even though you do not.

That's fair to say Jeb railed against some of what Government does but he also expanded other areas so it is not accurate to say he governed the state for 8 years talking about how awful government is.

Bob Graham was probably one of the most well-liked and respected representative of our state in the last 30 years. Jeb Bush and his devious plans to derail public education (See: today's article in the SPT re: FCAT retakes) and his unconstitutional voucher program, his fight against mass transit in this state (See: constitutional amendment to overturn bullet train amendment), and his tax cuts for the wealthy and spending cuts for the poor and disabled have not benefitted our state, except to make the wealthy, wealthier and the poor, poorer.

he did campaign talking about how awful government is, and he's still entitled to making money legally. Jeb is not in a popularity contest. He is not in a race to improve his state or the lives of others. He is in a race to serve himself and has every right to do so. Bob Graham actually spent a bit more time worrying about the people of Florida.

So the circle is complete Bob Graham now works for George Soros who owns and controls Wellcare.

Yes, you should check out the Soros connection. Soros and/or his firm owned a majority of Wellcare when it went public and still do. Why is this State pandering to Soros and giving Wellcare sweetheart Medicare/Medicaid rates? His firm doesn't need the money and he's taking excess from the people of Florida and shifting it offshore. Oh, and by the way, ask where his call centers are? Wellcare offshores a lot of labor too instead of keeping it in Florida where Wellcare of Florida is supposedly located. Why aren't these jobs going to Floridians? Wallstreet is currently checking into these sweetheart rates and why Wellcare is sending so much money offshore (so it doesn't look so profitable and can ask for higher rates). Check out the recent articles on this.

Interesting, though, that WellCare and its affiliates gave nearly $100,000 to the Republican Party during the 2006 election cycle. Doesn't sound like a George Soros move to me.

The political contributions were just to protect their interests. Do the research. Just Google Soros and Wellcare and see what happens. Soros' firm owns a majority of Wellcare. Any Republican in their right mind would never give any more money to Soros. Also Google the recent articles on Wallstreet analysts investigating Wellcare for sending so much money offshore. It's all there in black and white.

George Soros is the devil

where are all the D's that were crying about Jeb making some money?

George Soros is the devil?? Jeb's grandfather did business with the Nazis during WWII. Now who's the devil?

george w. bush is the devil.

Mmmmm?

Perhaps Senator Graham can reimburse me for the dinner at the Governor's Club for four with Senator Graham.

The dinners and evening with Senator Graham were won at auction during the Florida Wine Festival last month.

Or would that be gauche?

After all, I am a state employee, working at the Florida Abuse Hotline and not making the mega-bucks that some state employees are making - particularly those in the SES positions.

Any sound and reasonable advice, folks?

Yep, stop bidding at auctions.

Why should I stop bidding at auctions?

That is one of the best buys I've ever won.

Good job, then! :)
