Elections chiefs are nervous
Two days after Gov. Charlie Crist signed a law requiring paper vote trails, the people who run elections in Florida voiced alarm at the speed of the changes. Some election supervisors question whether the $28-million allotted for replacement equipment is enough, especially at a time when they, as county officials, are bracing for budget cutbacks as a result of state-mandated property tax reductions expected later this summer. More here.

Boo hoo...

The reason they’re nervous is that every time there’s a change… there’s a chance of exposing the fraud.
A lot of money was spent manipulating the current “Corporate Appointment” electronic system. Now, the stealth logarithms and truncation programs have to be re-written… and that’s going to cost 5-fold the amount. Sooner or later, someone is going to forget to shred a document, and all hell breaks loose.

Imagine that - 62 blue haired old ladies (and their five male counterparts - most of them appointed by governors) sitting around being nervous.
How do I get invited to the rock star good time that that conference must have been?

maybe they are "nervous" because first, they will actually have to WORK efficiently and accurately, and, second, because their previous participation in FRAUDS be exposed!!
id be nervous, too!!

yawn. the locals complaining are the ones who screwed this thing up - those counties that approved those faulty machines are now being bailed out by the state with my tax dollars. gee, wonder why we need to rein in local spending - because they can't get it right with what they got.

My county voted on those machines, and has never had a single problem.
Now the state says the multi-million dollar machines, that never had a problem, have to be replaced.
No wonder local gov. has to spend so much, when Tally creates expenses like this.
And no, the money from the state does not begin to cover the costs.
