You never forget your first: Gus takes two.
Freshman Rep. Gus Bilirakis, R-Palm Harbor, scored his first legislative victory Friday, seeing two of his ideas make it into the homeland security bill that won final approval from Congress late Friday.
The first provision requires those coordinating the development of rail security plans to be American citizens. The second requires the physical testing of rail tank cars used to carry hazardous materials.
Both are designed to thwart terrorism. The bill also includes $4-billion over four years for railroad and public transportation security. President Bush is expected to sign it.
Bilirakis serves on the homeland security committee.

Yabba dabba DOOOOOO....
who cares?
Any train tracks in Gus Flintstone's district?
Hey Flintstone, who the hell is going to pay for this?????
Oh.. by the way.. the physical testing should be of tankers not designed to contain hazardous materials.... if it says hazardous materials, why test it Gussy pooh? IT ALREADY HAS HAZARDOUS MATERIALS IN IT!!!!!

Way to go Congressman. The best part of your sucess is watching how every time you achieve something it drives people up a wall.

Gus is a decent guy. He cares about doing good things for American and his constituents. Those of you who trash him are just jealous.

Gus is a one-termer. He still gets mistaken for an intern when he walks around the Hill. If the best he can do is come up with unfunded mandates for choo choo trains, then back to Pasco for little Gussy.
Little Gussy, I worry more about tankers carrying hazardous materials with no placards on them.

Simple but good ideas. Smacks of common sense. Gus is a keeper.

What is Gus saying about the Gonzales affair. He remains a Bush yes-man in a time that our Constitution, which he swore an oath to protect, is threatened by laws like the Patriot Act that contain sections that mollify the Constitutional rights of Americans. Gus needs to take a stand if he wants to stay in Congress.

Seems Gus spends his time figuring out ways to spend our tax money to promote his Greek heritage
H.R.1313 : To direct the Joint Committee on the Library to obtain a statue of Constantino Brumidi for display in the Capitol Visitor Center.
H.CON.RES.71 : Commemorating the 85th Anniversary of the founding of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA), a leading association for the Nation's 1.3 million American citizens of Greek ancestry, and Philhellenes.
H.R.2526 : To designate Greece as a program country for purposes of the visa waiver program established under section 217 of the Immigration and Nationality Act.

I wish Gus would get down to the business of the country and Florida and stop wasting his time on Greek nonsense. He is becoming a huge disappointment. Much of his proposed legislation just spends more taypayers' money and drives our country further into debt.

9:30 hit the nail on the head. All Gus really cares about are the Greeks. The bills show it and if you ever spent anytime in his office you would understand that Greeks, not the vast majority of his district, consume the most amount of time.
