Democratic Primary war

Florida Democrats have known for months that the DNC would likely penalize the state for setting a Jan. 29 primary. But Sen. Bill Nelson on a conference call with reporters today sounded shocked that a compromise had not been found and the the DNC is about to turn the Jan. 29 election into officially meaningless beauty contest election. He threatened, vaguely, legal action.

Nelson: "We are quite concerned that Florida Democrats are going to lose their right to vote. Of all states, we have this sensitivity on this because of what we have gone through,'' Nelson said, alluding to the 2000 election and 2006 Congressional District 13 election.

Alcee Hastings: "I don't see it as offering us a beauty contest, I see it as offering us an ugly contest."

Debbie Wasserman Schultz: "We're trying to inject some sanity into this ... The bottom line is we should not be disenfrachising voters based on arcane political party rules."

I am shocked! Just shocked!

of course, we can always count on the party of piggies to continue living in the '60's, at best.

since the embargo was instituted, we have lost about THIRTY-FIVE years of influence with cuba.

aint that just grand?

no influence!

no presence!

no nothing!

when both fidel and raul pass on, exactly who in the surviving cuban government will have any interest in what we say or have to offer that country?

NO ONE!!

we traded with poland.
we traded with hungary.
we traded with the dreaded red china.

we traded with lots of countries whose governments were hostile to ours, and ours to theirs.

but not CUBA!!

its time to wake up, smell the coffee and begin acting as tho a nation less that 100 miles from our shores might just have something to offer us in return for us treating its leaders responsibly.

whadduthink??!!

IDIOTS!!!!

1:48 hysteria is tretable. Take your meds, step back and as yourself: WHO CARES!

More importantly, 1:48 and 1:51 WRONG THREAD - this is about the primary. Get with the program!

Let me guess_ Debbie Wasserperson is backing Hillary and Alcee Hastings is NOT.

The DNC is about to set the Democratic Party in Florida back 20 years. Dean needs to get over his dislike for the Clintons and move on. When he makes this a meaningless primary, the Dem turnout for Jan. 29th will tumble. But many local governments have moved their local elections from March to Jan. 29th. I predict that if the Dem. primary is not binding, we will see a surge in local Republicans elected because of extremely low turnout of Dems (I don't care if many are "non-partisan" races). Thanks DNC. How about this--all your candidates, political committees, etc. give back all their money to Florida donors. If you don't want our vote, don't take our money.

The party that cried over "disenfranchisement" in Florida in the 2000 elections and Ohio in 2004 is now going to disenfranchise its own voters! Good job Dean! You've just exposed your won party's hypocrisy.
