Elections Chief: Optical Machines Are Safe
The Division of Elections said Friday that Diebold has made the fix on its optical-scan machines that will keep them from being hacked without a trace. Read the letter.pdf.
A Florida State University study had found that someone could use a pre-programmed computer card to swap votes. But now the Division of Elections says that's been fixed.
“I am glad that we were able to work with Diebold and that they agreed to respond to the SAIT report expeditiously to correct this security issue,” said Secretary of State Kurt Browning. “While I do not believe that conditions exist in an election day environment for the machines to be compromised, it is my responsibility to take every possible precaution to ensure that Florida voting equipment is safe and secure. I am confident that this is the case.”

Aren't these the same people who claimed that the electronic voting machines were safe????

I don't think we should trust a computer voting system. I'll help count the hanging chads if needed. What is Diebold going to say, "Our machines are prone to problems"
Watch America Freedom to Facism and you can see testimony about voting machines being hacked- it mentions Tom Fenney.

Sure hope they save the paper optical scan ballots somewhere.

No offense, Kurt, but has anyone else done an independent test of the machines?

The CEO of Diebold was a major supporter of Bush/Cheney in 2000 and 2004. Their machines are worthless and corrupt.

What democrats were on the review team of these machines?
Posted by: | August 11, 2007 at 07:02 AM
I am a democrat and I trust Kurt Browning. But it would sure be nice to have Ion Sancho in charge of any testing being done.

We should surely hope that Diebold isn't lying to us again.

8:15 - 7:02 here
Not saying I don't trust Browning, probably the most qualified we have had in the position since he has elections experience.
However, I want to know what democrats were on the review committee, if any. It sure would be nice to point fingers back at them when the next election cycle brings out more Christine Jennings...

"...I want to know what democrats were on the review committee, if any."
Partisan hack. Why don't we just kill all Democrats. Then we can move on to the darkies, fags, and Jews.
Freaking minion moron...

Here are the report researchers. It looks like a diverse group and atleast one "looks" like a Democrat. Can you tell political affilliation by looks and geographic location?
There are links to some of the researchrers under their names.

9:25 seems to have a problem. Who chooses how they are born?
Anyway, the only way to check the Diebold fix is to let Ion Sancho and Harry Hursti test the machines, no strings attached.
Then, when the machines fail again, we should sue the manufacturers for our money back, and use the cash to hire temps to HAND COUNT the ballots.

Also, about balance on the review committee, why wasn't Ion there? Or Harry Hursti? Besides, I know Democrats who are absolutely positive that the votes were not stolen the last time. This is strange, considering that there is no empirical method of determining whether the elections were rigged or not. How do we know that blind faith didn't also motivate the "'looks' like a Democrat" mentioned by Marv?

Yes, and then neo-facist Republicans can exterminate everyone who opposes them or whom they don't like - for whatever reasons, e.g. wearing sandals.
