Romney on Health Care

Check out Gov. Mitt Romney's plan to provide more affordable health care, which includes pro-business  ideas like deregulating the industry, expanding tax-free health savings accounts encouraging competition.

"Health care leaders in Florida and across the nation understand the critical need to make health insurance more available and more affordable for all Americans," Romney said.  "The answer is not more government, but more innovation.  We must harness the power of free market reforms to provide private insurance options to our citizens without a tax increase and without a big government takeover."

Great - he got his county chairs to identify doctors, nurses or dentists in their county and then compiled this list.

Who are these people? Does anyone care?

The clown from Pinellas needs to chill out a bit on his "degrees" and "Certification"

From Romney's release: "He also supports the full deductibility of qualified medical expenses, which will allow Americans to deduct the cost of their health insurance and out-of-pocket medical expenses, where accompanied by at least catastrophic insurance."

Would someone explain what this inartful writing means?

What does "where accompanied by catastrophic insurance" mean? What the hell is qualified expenses?

This is just a bunch of gobble-dy-gook.

Mitt's plan sounds alot like the things Jebbie was doing here in Floriduh.

"deregulation" in my experience means MORE EXPENSIVE AND MORE LIMITATIONS.

how about your experience?

**********************************

"tax-free, health savings accounts", exactly what the already cash strapped citizen needs.............NOT!!

how do you save when you are workinglike hell just to make the already-stressed pay check stretch even more?

***************************

"competition"
among whom?

i can just imagine a family with a sick kid or other health crisis asking physicians for "bids" on saving little polly's life or dad's leg, cant you?

ahhhhhhhhhhh...............

the fantasis of the arrogantly rich who never had to work a day in their lives!!!!

Someone needs to ask Romney who HIS health care insurance company is. With a net worth north of $250Million, he really does not need health insurance.

Is he paying COBRA after leaving Massachusetts?

Someone needs to ask.

I thought you so-called conservatives hated government having anything to do with health care. Get your own or die! Or something like that. Even with 45 million of our citizens without health insurance, we're still the best damned country on this planet. We're just underachievers.

2:48-

Greater access to health savings accounts is an excellent idea.

Governor Romney worked hard as a venture capitalist to get where he is today. He didn't inherit his wealth as you imply. The greatest part about America is that everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed.

No one cares about Romney's venture capitalist background or wealth or how hard he worked.

He is not presidential timber.

He is a nice guy following his ego and father's legacy and doing this (partially because he can afford to do it).

He would be eaten alive in foreign policy. There are sharks out there and Romney is a gullible and inexperienced guppie.

"Who are these people?"

Most of the past, present, and future leaders of medicine in Florida.

What is a future leader of medicine?

Research?

Teaching?

Patient death record?

No liability claims?

You make no sense.

Doctors are not leaders, they are professionals who do a job.

Future leaders? Just like Howard Dean, MD

HA HA HA HA

HA HA HA HA

YEAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

HO HO HO

You crack me up>

These people are the last people in the world that Romney should appoint to a health care group.

He should have folks who pay healthcare, not benefit from it.

He needs smart people who are not beneficiaries of the system.

This is like putting the fox in the hen house.

It is like appointing trial lawyers to figure out how to reduce liablity awards.

What an absolutely stupid and incoherent move by Romney.

I saw Mitt with his wife doing an interview on TV. He looked like a child getting ready to go to the movies for the first time. It was pathetic. I concluded we shouldn't have to put up with another half-wit in the White House. This BS proposal proves my point.
Meanwhile, this is Mitt's false flag proposal on health care. Everything stays as it is, basically, with insurance companies limiting access to care as usual. All that changes is that over time, the cost increases will be marginally greater. Kucinich is right, we should expand medicare to all.

You mean Romney, that same half-wit who graduated number one in his class from Harvard Business School while simultaneously getting a law degree from that institution, only to go out and become one of the most successful businessmen in America? That half-wit?

3:20,
Physicians have a major say in health policy in the state of Florida, as it should be. The list above includes some of the most influential and knowledgeable doctors in the state. If you doubt the clout that physicians in Florida have, then you are pretty much clueless.

3:49,
How will any national or statewide health plan ever work without the enthusiastic support of physicians? Please, explain that one to me.

Physicians are part of the problem, they are not part of the solution. If they were part of the solution, we would not have an issue.

Appointing these folks is fun and I am sure they are honored.

But I don't want any physician determining health care finance or tax issues. They are simply not qualified.

3:59 Harvard Business School does not rank its class. The only significant thing you can achieve is to be a Baker Scholar.

Also, the dual degree program (HBS and Harvard Law) is a pretty common joint degree. There are many folks who pursue it.

So NEXT TIME, CLOWN, GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT and STOP SHOOTING FROM THE HIP. YOU DO NOT HELP ROMNEY WHEN YOU DO THAT!!!!!

Lighten up, Francis.

2:48- Get a clue about competition. No, little Polly's parents aren't going to shop around for the best price if Polly is bleeding from her eyes. Just like the guy whose gas guage says empty isn't going to drive around town searching for the best price on gas. But, the fact that gas stations have to publish their prices leads to marketplace competition, which prevents the BP on one corner from charging twice the rate that the Shell on the other corner is charging.

GOP GIrl - What are you talking about? We are talking about basic health care, not trauma or basic desperation.

Also, gas is a commodity. You want health care to be a commodity? You analogy breaks down completely.

Oh good, the same people who brought us Iraq, Katrina relief, VA health care, etc., have ideas to "reform" health care.

VA Healthcare is socialized medicine. You liberals always forget that when you point to the horrors of the VA medical system.

These are some of the strongest leaders in the MD community bar none. Mendelsohn and Zachariah are the only ones left!

actually, i believe the VA is pretty damn efficient, its just that the walter reed scandal was an anomoly

of course, now the VA is trying to screw every vet it can because chimpys war has produced such a drain on $$$$ and resources

You think the VA is efficient? Are you serious??? Find out how long it takes to get an elective hip replacement at a VA, then get back to me.

Keep the damn doctors, dentists and nurses out of healthcare decisionmaking. They can practice their profession, let others figure out the finances.

You never explained how a healthcare financing system that is not supported by physicians would ever work.......

Ask the veterans who actually get health care at the VA what they think of the system. Like any large organization it has its horror stories, but by and large the actual recipients of VA health care rave about the service and the caring nature of the people providing it.

The real problem with the VA health care system is the Bush Administration and the Republican controlled copngress consistently refusing to fully fund the system. This led to at least a $1 billion funding shortfall this year. Republicans have consistently fought attempts to make fully funding the VA health care system mandatory.

And for all you boys and girls out there who don't know the difference, Walter Reed is a US Army hospital, not a VA hosptial.

For those of you in Tampa, I invite you to come to the weekly Operation Helping Hand, 6 PM Thursdays at the James A. Haley VA Hospital.

Operation Helping Hand serves the combat wounded service men and women receiving treatment at Haley during their stay. Visitors are encouraged to bring items such as calling acrds and other simple necessities to support their stay during treatment. It is also a wonderful opportunity to show your support for our wounded.

As predicted, Romney is sliding back to single digits... see the latest Rasmussen.

Isn't ANNE VOSS Romney's person in Tampa?

MEMO FROM NRWN PRESIDENT JUDITH ALBERTELLI AND FRWN PRESIDENT ANNE VOSS

Important

A Memo From: Judith Albertelli, President
                          National Republican Women’s Network (NRWN)
                          Anne Voss, President
                          Florida Republican Women’s Network (FRWN)

May 23, 2007
A Dark day for the Florida Republican Party~

On Friday, May 18, 2007, FRWN President Anne Voss and First Vice President Dolores Clark were directed to meet with Republican Party of Florida Chairman Jim Greer.  I participated in the meeting by telephone from Jacksonville.

Chairman Greer decreed that pursuant to the language in the new elections bill recently passed by the Florida Legislature, all clubs and organizations wanting to use the party name would have to get written permission from him to operate as a Republican club/organization.  He went on to say that all Network clubs will have to apply to the Republican Executive Committee (REC) of the county in which they meet and obtain the written approval of two of the following three people in the REC: county chairman, state committeeman or state committeewoman.  His ultimatum indicated that refusal would require us to drop the word Republican from our name.

Furthermore, clubs receiving approval and having filed the appropriate documents with the party would receive only a “provisional” charter to operate on probation for one year. Following the probation period, they will then be judged by the “benchmarks” set by, and at the whim of, the State Party Chairman.  The new Florida statute gives power to the State Chairman to remove anyone from their position for any reason he deems valid.  His power to ῲemove extenῤs to county chairman and duly elected state committeemen and state committeewomen, as well as all REC and club ῭embers.

We were also told by Chairman Greer that the Florida New Federation and their unit clubs will not be held to the same standards. They will not have to apply for charters from the local REC members or the State Party Chairman.

The Executive Committee of the Florida Republican Women’s Network, having discussed the far reaching ramifications of the Chairman’s interpretation of the Florida Election Law and selective prosecution of the law, have voted to stand on principle, continue to use the name Republican and maintain our independence from the Party structure and control.  We will not relinquish the right t` drive our mission, charter our own clubs and set our own benchmarks with ῴrue faith and allegiance to our bylaws.

We are prepared to defend our rights to call ourselves Republican and to join with other Republican women to have our voice heard and our impact felt in the public arena.  Anyone threatening to silence us should understand that we will not acquiesce to intimidation or unfair treatment.

Our Republican credentials are considerable and we stand by our record.  This is not 1907- we will not settle for second class status in our Republican Party, the party of Lincoln and Reagan.
