Fred Thompson hearts Pasco
As if Bill McCollum's speech and the drawing for the handguns weren't reason enough to hit the Pasco GOP's Reagan Day dinner. Now the Buzz is that Fred Thompson will be there too next Friday - becoming the first presidential candidate this cycle to hit the fast-growing Tampa Bay bedroom community.

Thompson will find a cold welcome in Florida. Since naming a VP running mate, Crist has no use for him.

Fred sure generates a lot of interest - NOT!

Go Fred!!!

Get ready for Wes Clark 2.0
Posted by: | September 08, 2007 at 07:29 PM
"Drawing for handguns"? At a Reagan Day Dinner? President Reagan who was nearly assassinated with a handgun is to be honored by raffling handguns?
GOP is weirder than I thought.

Fred Thompson is a babbling idiot.
Posted by: | September 08, 2007 at 08:20 PM
Fred Thompson is no Mike Huckabee... Put the two on the same stage and voters will realize that in no time!
Posted by: | September 08, 2007 at 08:26 PM
Fred Thompson is the only true conservative in this race. Go FRED!
Posted by: gofred | September 08, 2007 at 08:36 PM
Fred Thompson is all swagger and no substance.... the Paris Hilton of politics. His plan is to "pull up our britches" PLEASE!!! Look at his record... not much experience or leadership.
Ron Paul is the only true conservative in this race. Even if you are a warmonger you should support Ron Paul because if not... get ready for Hilary. The GOP needs to get their head out of their rear and realize that like it or not people are tired of the way things are going- if people vote they will vote for a Dem simply because they are pissed at the mess that has been made by the Republicans.

Fred had 8 years in the senate and his biggest accomplishment was mccain-feingold...
Posted by: | September 08, 2007 at 08:55 PM
So just what ARE Fred's conservative credentials?
Posted by: | September 08, 2007 at 09:27 PM
He's got you all worried!!
Go Fred!!!
Posted by: | September 08, 2007 at 09:42 PM
Ron Paul is a joke. He is not a serious candidate. I'll consider taking him somewhat seriously when he raises 20 million in a quarter. Until that time, he's just a pretender.
Ron Paul is clueless about the threat we face from radical jihadists, and proposes eliminating the FBI and CIA. I wonder if he wants to eliminate the Department of Defense as well?

Hey 7:54
Drawing for a gun is a great prize. Reagan was a staunch supporter of the 2nd amendment before and after the atack on him.

Fred is real ICK...why is his wife jealous? Mrs. Bush didn't mind George going to Australia with Dr. Rice.

And with a glamorous new wife, 35-year-old Jeri Kehn, at his side; at least when she can get to his side. "All these women," she recently complained to the New York Post, "they just won't leave him alone.
I can't get up at a cocktail party without coming back and finding some girl sitting in my chair."

One word for Fred:
LIBYA.
Posted by: Joe from Philly | September 08, 2007 at 11:30 PM
11:14 PM...Fred's wife is more like 40 and don't think you got her middle name right. When Fred becomes Prez perhaps you'll then know how to spell it.

Does Fred have a position on SOMETHING?
Posted by: | September 09, 2007 at 06:53 AM
He has many positions with jeri
Posted by: | September 09, 2007 at 07:10 AM
Are you envious? Probably you are a frustrated Dem who has NO postions.
Posted by: | September 09, 2007 at 08:11 AM
Ron Paul is the only actual TRUE conservative in this race. If we were electing people like our founding fathers intended before the gross over expansion of government he would be the front runner.
How many R's have raised $20 mil in a quarter at this point? If that's the threshhold the field would be much smaller.
Eliminating a government organization that has caused much of our problems around the world and in our own country such as assasinating soverign leaders, introducing LSD to our campuses, and many other admitted sins probably isn't such a bad idea. I personally don't feel that is the function of our government.

republicans supporting "freddie of hollywood" are hillarious. what is his stance on the national deficit? the 47 million americans uninsured? the housing burst?
or is it just his "movie star" status that you like? cus it sure aint his looks - ICK.
Posted by: | September 09, 2007 at 09:15 AM
Fred Thompson has the gravitas needed to run this country. Go Fred!
Posted by: | September 09, 2007 at 09:21 AM
Ron Paul is there for humor only. He is not a serious candidate. He becomes crazier with each debate. He can't even raise money... 500K-1 million per quarter isn't going to cut it.
8:37-
I agree that the field should be much smaller. The debates should be between the serious candidates: Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani, Fred Thompson, John McCain and perhaps Mike Huckabee. Ron Paul,Tom Tancredo and Sam Brownback should drop out. They don't have a chance and are merely taking time away from those that are serious about winning the Republican nomination.
Posted by: | September 09, 2007 at 09:36 AM
9:36 Agree. But let's wait and see if Fred is really a serious candidate. Right now, we know nothing about where he stands and ... how much money has he raised?
Posted by: | September 09, 2007 at 09:39 AM
9:36 Huckabee doesn't have nearly the money that Paul does. According to the last reports Paul has nearly $2.5 mil and Huckabee has half a mil. McCain is right in the same neighborhood as Paul as far as cash on hand goes.
Posted by: | September 09, 2007 at 10:09 AM
How about Fred Thompson?
Posted by: | September 09, 2007 at 10:21 AM
When is the dinner and where can you get tickets?
Posted by: | September 09, 2007 at 10:31 AM
Fred is a closet liberal just like Crist. That is good and what Republicans want.
OUTLAW
HANDGUNS
Posted by: | September 09, 2007 at 11:05 AM
Well if that is the case, Fred sure isn't going to get any help from Charlie, since he has made it plain he already HAS a running mate, and Charlie is just waiting to sell his support to whoever will put him on the ticket.
Posted by: | September 09, 2007 at 11:21 AM
10:09-
I said perhaps Mike Huckabee could be included in the debates along with the other serious candidates. In my opinion, Huckabee would make a solid VP pick.
Ron Paul, Tom Tancredo and Sam Brownback just take time away from those who have a chance of winning. Duncan Hunter is also a good man, but he can't raise money to be a major player. He'd make an excellent Secretary of Defense.
Posted by: | September 09, 2007 at 11:22 AM
Ron Paul is the only candidate with conservative credentials. Those that confuse theology with law (Brownback, Thompson) are NOT conservative. Tancredo and Hunter are reactionaries, NOT conservatives. The other three are moderate/liberal.

Poor Fred, can't make his mind up on what he wants to be. Actor, or a bigger actor. Go back to Hollywood please.

Was Fasano there trying to get his skinny self in the picture?

pasco will never be as awsome as our dinner was in pinellas county. bill bunting sucks..tony dimatteo rules!
Posted by: | September 10, 2007 at 11:49 AM
Barry (11:49) get off the blog and stop kissing Tony's butt. Don't worry he'll protect his little henchman, until your of no use. The Republican Party of Pasco throws a great dinner and Bill and Tony are friends. They wouldn't appreciate your ignorant remarks.
