God likes Democratic boycott of Florida
Well, He didn't tell us that directly. But Bill Richardson says there's divine support for Iowa's status in the nominating process:
"Iowa, for good reason, for constitutional reasons, for reasons related to the Lord, should be the first caucus and primary," Richardson, New Mexico's governor, said at the Northwest Iowa Labor Council Picnic. "And I want you to know who was the first candidate to sign a pledge not to campaign anywhere if they got ahead of Iowa. It was Bill Richardson."

And the Lord sayeth: "Let Iowa be thy first Presidential nominating stop. Lest any State move their primary election, and they shall be smote down by my very own hand."
And it was so...and Iowans everywhere rejoiced.

While I certainly don't want to get cross-ways with the LORD, I do think that Florida Democrats and Republicans alike should give their national party leaders and candidates a small math lesson and repeat daily as long as the goofy talk of taking away delegates or not campaigning in Florida continues.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau's State & County Quickfacts website, the total 2006 estimated population for Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina combined is 11,113,758. Florida's tally comes to 18,089,888. These numbers, plus the lack of dollars coming from any big contributors with actual backbones, should add up to a sum will be hard for even the most logically-challenged politico to ignore.

I love how God intervenes in only specific cases.

I guess he was on a coffee break with that one.

Iowa will not reward Richardson for such blatant pandering. Florida will certainly punish him.
Nice going, Bill. Fast track to zero delegates.

Nope, they Yankee fans and the Lord roots for the Red Sox.

It's amazing how a major political party cows down to a bunch of corn farmers and won't recognize our state. Something is seriously messed up with our political way of getting things done.
Posted by: Scott | September 04, 2007 at 11:44 AM
Of course he likes the boycott, because he hates Democrats.
Posted by: | September 04, 2007 at 11:51 AM
11:51 -- He IS a Democrat, which doesn't mean he's not filled with self-loathing, but that's not the point we should focus on here. We should be Floridians on this, not D's and R's. There are 7 million more Floridians than the total population of Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina combined. Any party or candidate that ignores that should be rewarded with a wall of indifference from Florida.

"And I want you to know who was the first candidate to slit his own throat when it comes to winning in Florida(or any state, for that matter)by signing a pledge not to campaign anywhere if they got ahead of Iowa. It was Bill Richardson."

politics and religion have no business being together. There should be a rule amongst all political candidates to keep religious views away from political views. This is coming from someone who is and will always believe in Christ.

You left out the other part that the Lord said,"No one running for office shall come to Florida just for the money and then ignore the votes of the state."

Is it just me, or do Republicans sound more and more like retarded third-graders?
What a joke these people are.
Posted by: Dave | September 04, 2007 at 01:30 PM
I'm fairly certain God has better things to do.
Posted by: | September 04, 2007 at 01:31 PM
Dave - being the good little democrat that you are, you should know that "retarded" is not politically correct. Now, go ahead and apologize to all of the mentally handicapped children throughout the State.
Now, if you weren't so mentally challenged yourself, you would realize that Bill Richardson is a Democrat, as are the subjects of this thread. But, never mind the facts, just go ahead and throw your lame insults out there for all to read.

Check your fast folks,Richardson is Democrat. I agree with J.S. this is a Floridian thing not a Repub or Demo thing. That's why my voter ID says "NO Party."

The Republican party is nothing more than a group of Jehoviah's witnesses trying to knock on your door on Superbowl Sunday during the middle of the game. Piss on them

More proof that God hates Florida. I tend to agree with him.

Most awesome picture ever. Can God be a consultant on the PolitiFact site? I think it would enlighten us all.

As an Indenpendent, Richardson was the one Democrat who interested me as a candidate. Of course, that was before he opened his mouth.

Great the democrat I actually like is going all Jesus freaky.
Posted by: Crackpotpress | September 04, 2007 at 05:37 PM
I've decided to call Bill Richardson home. And maybe that short ugly guy from Ohio too.

You can't have Kucinich! His soul is mine! How do you think he got that hot wife?

Richardson was indeed the first major Democratic Party candidate to agree to the “four-state pledge,” requested by Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina, not to campaign in any state, including Florida, that busts the national party’s intended schedule by holding its primary too early.
But there was no religious motive, said campaign spokesman Tom Reynolds.
“The governor, who’s known for his humor on the campaign trail, was joking,” Reynolds said. “This was an attempt to poke a little fun at the frenzy of activity intended to keep the four early states the earliest ones. Hyperbole, if you will.”

Oh, I forgot. Bill Richardson used to be a stand up comic. He was the opening act for Robin Williams a long time ago.
Posted by: Zhombre | September 04, 2007 at 10:01 PM
This is clearly a joke. Everyone knows that Democrats don't believe in God!

It is not often that you get as clear a look into the character, values and judgment of candidates as when their party voids millions of votes and they opt to side with the party operatives.
There is not a one of them worth walking into the polls to vote for: Not Hillary, not Obama, not Edwards, no Richardson, not any white haired senior senator. When they put party rules above having votes counted they are not fit for hight office.

Richardson just lost this supporter.

This is the first time since Richardson entered the race that I have wanted to deny he's my governor. I used to think he'd be great as President, but this pandering to the religious population, on both sides, has got to stop. No one panders to those of us who think religion has NO PLACE in politics.

I am sure the "Good Lord" could care less about anything to do with politics or Iowa for that matter.
