Ken Jenne to resign
Reports the Herald: "Broward Sheriff Ken Jenne -- at one time the county's most powerful politician -- has agreed to plead guilty and resign to federal corruption charges involving tens of thousands of dollars he allegedly received from sheriff's office contractors and employees, sources said Tuesday.
"After months of personal anguish, Jenne decided Monday to cut the plea deal on tax evasion and other charges to limit his prison time because he also was staring at an imminent grand jury indictment on more serious fraud and money-laundering offenses, sources said."

Well... D or R?

Didn't Shaq say he wanted to run for Broward or Orange County Sheriff? Now's his opportunity.

What Larry Craig did was a crime of passion. But unlike Barney Frank, Craig didn't admit to performing the act. What Jenne did was a crime of greed and corruption. When will the culture of corruption ever be excised from the Democrat party? Nancy Pelosi should hire an exorcist.

I guess that would guide your response, huh? If it's a party different than your own, you could launch into a tirade about how Jenne and all (Rs or Ds) are corrupt. And if he's in the same party, you could then point out others who've done the same thing, claim he's done the right thing by resigning and on and on. Take a stand, then we'll tell you which party he belongs to.

Must be a D, since the Times didn't jump to identify the party as is their habit when anything involves an R.
Truth0Meter?----right!!!

Excellent point about him being a Dem is not mentioned by the SPT, You have to read the linked article to find out. If he was a republican that would have been included in the blog headline. Screw SPT and truthfulness.

Can't wait to see which Dem our liberal Governor will choose to appoint.
My guess is Jack Seiler

You heard it here first. George LeMieux will be named the new Sheriff of Broward County.
Posted by: The Insider | September 04, 2007 at 10:48 AM
Scott Israel will be named.
You heard it here first and it won't be the last.

You're all wrong. It will be Suzanne Summers. She's the Sheriff!

We need a true leader...
Tom Wheeler is our GUY!!
He worked for ATF, Attorney General and now with FDLE.
He is well respected in the community and true leader who get the job done.
We need a leader who is a not a career politician and in trenched in BSO politics!
Broward does not need anymore disgrace!!
Thus, Tom should be our NEW SHERIFF!!

Jenne is a LIBERAL DEMOCRAT!!
He was so LIBERAL that his own Party stopped him from becoming FL Senate President!
He was appointed by the late Gov. Chiles because he was a career politican!
If you live in Broward, then you would know that!!
Goodbye...Ken! We still can look up to your son, State Rep. Evan, for advice on mail fraud...

Can Bosquet type the word democrat and coruption without breaking down?
SPT is a pinch better than those rats at the PB Post, who wrote a glowing "poor little Ken" story a few weeks back.
Yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus for corrupt Democratic Pols, It's the liberal media outlets who go easy on them.

Does anyone care to give a forecast on how (or whether) this will effect Evan Jenne's political career? Will this follow him and will the people in his district care?

Once made millions, now borrowing money from his secretaries as a sheriff.
Sounds like a drug or gambling problem that leads to those kinds of desperate money problems. Or maybe just good old fashioned greed.

It's a shame. I told Ken to run for Governor in 1998, he would of beaten MacKay for the nomination and Bush, that or he should of went for Attorney General in 2002. He had a very bright future ahead of him, truly a shame.

It's a shame that Clay Shaw did not listen to advice to run for Governor and have Jeb as his Lt. Gov!
Look at him now...at Harvard talking about his years as a FORMER Congressman!!
Miriam was a rising star and fell faster than a meteor!
This is Broward...we pick a lot of potential rising stars that continue to disappoint us!
Thanks Ken for keeping in that tradition!

Jenne was one of the meanest people I ever met. Glad to see him bite the big one.
