Ring: I wasn't duped by Republicans
Buzz noted one conspicuous absence when Karen Thurman surrounded herself with Broward County Democrats Sunday to tout its Jan. 29 primary: state
Sen. Jeremy Ring. No one invited the Broward state Senator who sponsored the original bill moving Florida's primary from March to January and undercut the Democrats' argument that the early primary was all the Republicans' fault.
"If you turn on the left wing liberal radio down in Broward, I am public enemy number one,'' said Ring, who acually campaigned in 2006 on the need for an early primary and makes no apologies for his leading the effort. "I hear that a lot, that I was duped by the Republicans. No one duped me."
Ring acknowledges he was surprised by the presidential boycott but says the move still ensures the presidential candidates will talk about critical Florida issues like a national catastrophic fund, Everglades funding and prescription drug access. History, he predicted, will show that Florida's move blew up "this awful presidential primary process."

a millionaire computer nerd does not necessarily ensure a successful political career.
Ring is a perfect example of why celebrities (rich people, actors, entertainters and sports stars) shouldn't run for political office.
The guy's political career is toast.
Rivera must have had nude pictures of Ring or something!

Why was he taking legislative leads from the Republican's instead of his own caucus...I am sure they had bills they would have liked to see sponsored.

I think it's called "selling out".
How do you think the guy got a committee chairmanship as a frosh D????

Jeremy is a good guy and filed the bill for the right reason. He thinks Florida should be relevant in the presidential primaries. He votes the way he feels not how people tell him he should vote. Go Jeremy!!

Do you want to see your presidential candidates? The following states don’t want you too, Nevada, Iowa, South Carolina, and New Hampshire. They are more concerned with their own states and not the country as a whole. By these four states forcing the hand of our great candidates the four states are costing us the White House in ’08. Please call each party and ask why they want to lose the White House in ’08.
The DNC has nothing to do with the sanctioning of candidates. The FOUR STATE PLEDGE is organized by the four states listed below. Call and have your voice made heard as a Democrat and as an American.

South Carolina Democratic Party: 800-841-1817

New Hampshire Democratic Party: 603-225-6899
Nevada Democratic Party: 702-737-8683

Jeremy's a "good guy" who's going to have a very short political career.
His not being invited to the press conference on Sunday was a suttle tip off the Dems have him on their *hit list.
Bye bye Senator Ring. It was fun while it lasted!
Posted by: terminator | September 26, 2007 at 01:06 PM
He is a loser. Skip Campbell should run for that seat again. Ring is a useless Senator, who should be soley blamed for this primary BS. YOU ARE A LOSER RING, RESIGN. PLEASE?
Posted by: kicker | September 26, 2007 at 01:37 PM
He will be targeted for sure.
Calling all campaign consultants...
Posted by: | September 26, 2007 at 01:42 PM
God forbid the Democrats find someone with some business sense (for those of you who didn't know, Ring was one of the co-founders of a little company called Yahoo)...lest they flush him down the drain.
You know, D's are the first to chastize conservative Republicans...but tolerate little moderation in their own party.
It goes both ways, folks...Americans are in general a middle-of the-road people...we don't like extremists on either side.
Posted by: | September 26, 2007 at 01:44 PM
lol 1:37...I didn't see any Democrats rushing to vote against his bill.
you a**holes eat your own, and you keep losing...ever wonder why?
Posted by: | September 26, 2007 at 01:45 PM
So let me get this straight, if a democrat disagrees with their party they are considered a traitor and called everything in the book even if he believes in what he is doing. But, if a republican flips he is "enlightened" because he sided with a democrat?
Posted by: Mike | September 26, 2007 at 01:48 PM
what's funny is the Dems thought the DNC would fold like a cheap tent.
Now that they look like complete fools, Ring becomes the fall guy.
I suspect the R's will face the same sanctions (only one-half of the delegates).
For such a bright businessman, Ring certainly doesn't have alot of political acumen.
This is what happens when you break the rules and think you're above the law.
Posted by: terminator | September 26, 2007 at 01:51 PM
Ring is a bright businessman?
Posted by: | September 26, 2007 at 02:00 PM
And now it looks like Nelson is going to file suit against the DNC. Can this get any more pathetic?

Ring's Camapign Manager?
No, thats right Jeremy take advice, from no one.

If only that were true.
Maybe now, would be time for you to kick your theo-facist taliban to the curb

People get what people vote for.....
Every candidate who self finances will claim they didn't win because of money but because of their incredible ability to inspire people and their unique talents.
Aside from the fact that he was running against a very unpopular opponent - "Mayor of Broward County" - is not a popularly elected position you can't deny that he is the stereotypical case for "how to buy your seat."
Did money factor in Stacy Ritter decision to drop out? Yes.
Did it factor into him garnering early recognition and legitimacy in the first place? Yes. (Has anyone who would answer No ever met Jeremy Ring or listened to him give a speech?)
Did not having to raise any money provide him with the opportunity to knock on all of those doors? Yes.
Did having all of that money - which he could use to contribute to other candidates - allow him to garner favor with them and the party? Yes.
And Did it allow him to hire talented staff? Yes. (Would anyone with experience have have offerend their talents to a candidate with no name recognition, no money, and with Jeremy's initial level of political abilities - I doubt it.)
Unfortunately - it's also why nobody will challenge him the next race.

Didn't the Democrats vote for this bill because it was the only way to dump the DREs and get paper ballots? Although it only went half way, since those ballots needed to be counted by hand, it was an improvement.
Watch, when the first four states are done, the candidates will be all over Florida.
