'Why we stood up to Florida'
Donna Brazile, manager of Al Gore's 2000 campaign and a member of the DNC's rules and bylaws committee, writes in the Washington Post today that Florida's early primary "represented a unilateral move that would completely disrupt the system on which everyone had agreed."
But she also says the current system is not "rational" and needs to be reformed. More here.

As a Democrat, why is it that my party insists on continuing to promote people who consistently lose elections, etc. We complain that W. promotes incompetence inside his administration, but seemingly the only difference is that the Democratic party does it before the election instead after it.

It's time for the DNC to come into the 21st century and reform the Primary process completely. They of all groups should be promoting a process whereby the voices and voting rights of all Democrats are respected and encouraged, not denounced and sanctioned.

11:48 is right, and Florida is now paying for the support it gave Dean to put him where he is today.

Stupid, make the Florida Dem's mad and they will vote Republican to get back OR they will stay at home and the R's get Florida. We deserve to loose!

Thanks for the softball...
You are not giving the Dems their full due. They also demonstrate a high level of incompetence AFTER the election. Witness the 2006 election where the Dems won both Houses of Congress on the promise of reform and then settled down to business as usual. Today, the Congressional approval rating has fallen to an historic low.
Also, gotta love the decision by the DNC to make Donna Brazile its election spokeperson. It is like appointing the Captain of the Titanic as the spokesperson for boating safety.

We should hold a nationwide primary in the spring and forget all the stupid jockeying for early primaries.
Latest numbers show Dems are widening their lead nationally over the Repubs.
Party Affiliation: Dem 37.4% GOP 32.5%
Republicans have lost 5% points since 2004. Not affiliated have gained nearly 6% in the same time frame. Another good reason to eliminate the electoral college.

So "rational" meant disenfranchising millions of Democratic Voters? What premises were these #$%$ using to develop that conclusion?
Certainly not any dedication to the idea that every vote should count; certainly not that Florida Democrats deserve their party to respect their votes; certainly not that the people should decide and the parties should facilitate the will of the people.
No the premise must have been that the parties are for the party officials and the candidates, not for the poor dumb, fools who just vote.
I feel like I'm black and the DNC's real name is Jim Crow!
I'm fed up with this looser party. It is no better than the #$%@ that is the Republican Party.
I'm out.

CC and Greer are working this behind the scenes and all the talk. I think that at the end of the day Fl Republicans will get all 116 delegates. People say Greer is a master negotiateing things like this stuff. To bad Thurman does not have the same skills or none of this would have happened to the Dems. If Greer pulls it off, The Governor and Lemeiux need to send him down to Broward to negotiate with the Seminoles.

Heh, 3:09 or Jim Greer, what do you have nothing else to do on a Saturday afternoon than once again toot your own horn.

It should have never gotten this far. Thurman and that so called executive director Leonard Joseph dropped the ball a long time ago. Just blaming it on the republicans is not going to cut it.
Last weekend we had are butts handed to us. That story of the primary being pushed by only the republicans was blown out of the water by the RBC. Thurman was late and couldn't answer any of questions asked of her. What is so sad is she can lobby for the republicans and seal the deal. And, who is Leonard Joseph? It seems he is way out of league to handle these kind of negotiations.
We are so busy responding to the DNC actions but have no plan. Dean and DNC have taken advantage of our lack of skilled individuals to handle this.

This is all much ado about nothing. The Democrats walked lockstep with the Republicans in shifting Florida's primary. They figured the DNC would cave. Well good for the DNC for having the ...backbone...to do what must be done. Even if one agrees the primary system that gives too much power to the existing early states is wrong, Florida's foolish, arrogant disregard for the rules had known consequences.
No, the reality check is this: Democrats stop worrying about how many people get to go to the convention and wander about in foolish hats. Get to work on the precinct infrastructure to defeat the GOP from the top of the ticket down to Mosquito Control Board. Less whining and more winning. Republicans have to win Florida-we can stop them. Oh and elected Dems and Florida Dem Party leaders...stop being quoted on this issue-you all sound like petulant children. This is boring insider baseball. Leave it to the wonks and take the money we might have given the Dem candidates and put it into the Florida Democratic Party and our local candidates to build the machine to win.

... because secretly, deep down, you know the Republican Party RULES!!!

OK, 10:20pm or Jim Greer or Delmar. You can like him all you want, but everyone knows Greer has never done a thing that he hasn't bragged about. The words "I did this" or "I've done that" are big in his world. But I won't kiss off because just like you I have a right to my opinion.

The DNC will ultimately cause more apathy toward government than Katerine Harris did when she disenfrachised a mere 50,000 Floridian (Democrates) in 2000.

4:11pm, You must not know the Chairman like the people at the RPOF do . The only thing he ever brags about is the great team at the RPOF and its the 1st time anyone can remember our Chairman talking about the Staff . Oh by the way, I'm not Delmar or the Chairman, just someone who knows the truth. so for all of us as I said , K ss Off.
