Al Gore on the Florida ballot

Algore2Just thinking out loud here. Democratic Senate and House leaders Steve Geller and Dan Gelber and state Democratic Chairwoman Karen Thurman have full discretion to put any name they want on the Jan. 29 primary ballot. They have until Halloween, but will likely make that final call Sunday. So why not throw Al Gore onto Florida's presidential primary ballot?

Heck, most of the other Florida-snubbing Democratic candidates say Florida's primary is so meaningless they won't even send their spouses to mix with party regulars in Orlando this weekend. Why not have some fun with it then, and add a Nobel Peace Prize winner to the Florida ballot? Call it a favor to those Palm Beachers who accidentally voted for Pat Buchanan in 2000 and want another chance to vote for Gore. Hillary and company probably wouldn't love the idea, but she and the rest of the field  haven't exactly been dolling out favors lately to Florida Democrats.

It's not that we here at Buzz are just trying to salvage a chance at actual news at this weekend's state convention. No sireee. Not at all. Perish the thought. Al Gore back on the Florida ballot, after the national Democrats opted not to count Florida's Democratic votes. It's almost Shakespearean. Whattya think?

Gore/Geller 2008

Write in Bob Graham for President.

11:27 - Gore/Loudmouth? be serious.

Why not put Jeb Bush on the Republican ballot then? Then we can all watch Giuliani lose his lunch.

How 'bout GORE/MOORE ?

The guy who won an Oscar and a Nobel and the guy lefties love who won an Oscar and whatever they hand out at Cannes, the Gold Bidet or whatever.

Put a Florida favorite son like Rubin Askew or Bob Graham on the ballot. If the delegate count gets close, the candidates will fall all over themselves to get Florida's delegates seated and our "candidate" will be able to extract some great promises from the one we put over the top. Maybe he or she will actually "campaign" in Florida.

JOE LIEBERMAN! Watch the Kossacks foam at the mouth and their beady little eyes turn blood red! Watch Gatordem Gene Smith turn into the Incredible Hulk! Watch Susan Smith unleash the flying monkeys!

Two words: Charlie Crist.

I am missing something here.

Geller and Gelber have what power, exactly? Thurman, possibly, with Executive Comm oversight, I assume. But two legislators?

Bucher/Vana for President.

Bucher/Vana for President.

I dig big Al! Clinton/Gore Rides Again!

"This time, it's for real!"

Adam,
I had a reply ready, and then decided that this does not even merit a reply. Please, ask your editor to give you a real story to report.

DEMOCRATS = PARTY OF DISENFRANCHISEMENT

They've even disenfranchised their own members in Florida.

I was “disenfranchised” once… McDonalds didn’t like my version of “special sauce” so they closed my franchise down.

... "Gore / Moore"

Very funny post.

YES!! Thank you! We need Al Gore! Gore buttons went like wildfire at the convention... Even folks with other candidate buttons on were putting the Gore buttons on and people were clamoring to sign the Draft Gore petition. So...
