Crist's political juice
These Florida Chamber poll numbers are a bit dated (9/6-10, 1000 likely voters by Insider Advantage/Majority Opinion Research), but still relevant and stunning. "Governor Charlie Crist enjoys strong popularity throughout the state and across party lines. Support from Governor crist will be critical to the passage of any amendment on property taxes.
Sixty-nine percent of voters have a favorable view of Charlie Crist and 24 percent unfavorable.
"Even more astoundingly, Governor Crist’s job approval numbers are even higher, proving that Florida voters not only strongly approve of Crist himself, but of his ability to affect policy and make decisions. "When asked “Do you approve or disapprove of the job performance of Governor Charlie Crist,” voters responded: Approve – 79.3%, Disapprove – 20.7%"
I am laughing my booty off!! All those jackasses on the blog about his VP chances saying how his poll numbers are tanking. Blah, blah, blah. 79%. Read it and weep little girls.

Yes, yes, yes... let's keep up the positive polls... maybe CC will be picked as a Veep...
Posted by: | October 08, 2007 at 10:08 PM
Of course you will now say that the poll is flawed....right?! Face it, the handful of malcontents on this blog who feel the need to trash Crist are in the extreme minority in Florida.

Insider Advantage is one of the worst polls as far as reliability.
I've seen some whoppers from these guys over the past year.
They're just trying to sell more internet subscriptions to their political blog.
I'll guarantee you Charlie isn't close to 69%. Low 60's maybe but not high sixties anymore.
He could gain some traction if something gets done on property tax reductions although his doubling the homestead is kind of simplistic and weak and wouldn't generate a lot of tax savings for anyone.
However, due to the inability of the legislature to agree on much, it might be the best this group can muster.

We love you Governor. Just keep doing the right thing. The nay sayers on this blog are the same ones who were supporting Gallagher. They are mean spirited and have sour grapes. The Baxley types who continue to try to hurt your popularity. The people approve of your fair positions and of your ability to see what the majority of the people want from their government.

The Florida Taliban only repesent 10 percent of Florida, sorry guys.
Posted by: | October 08, 2007 at 10:46 PM
Those numbers are old. Gov Crist's new popularity ratings are dropping like a rock. If we do not get substantial property tax relief, his ratings will crash.

Sorry, termie. I take Insider Advantage a LOT more seriously than some of the lousy Rasmussen or Quinnipiac junk that gets play in FL. Towery is sharp as hell.
Posted by: | October 09, 2007 at 12:14 AM
Stunning? As in, we thought it would be much lower based on our opinion, stunning? Times, your biass is showing.

Bush had similar numbers in the opening days of the Iraq war. CC is an empty suit. He stands for nothing, and will eventually alienate everyone. I would ask those who are so happy with him, what has he accomplished? He just talks. He goes to one group and says what they want to hear, then on to the next group to say what they want to hear... He hasn't done jack. His tax relief is a joke. His insurance relief is a joke. The only thing he's done is help out a bunch of criminals. Really, what has he done? His numbers are a result of his ineffectual leadership. It's almost scary how dumb people are. The guy has been governor for a year, and he's still campaigning. The hollow slogans and meaningless declarations may inflate his numbers in the short-term, but in the long run he'll be recognized as the snake oil salesman that he is.

I am not a big fan of Insider Advantage, or its polling methodology. It is doubtful that Crist's popularity rating approximates 80% after nearly a year in office. Although, I am confident that it stands well above 70%.
Posted by: zenator | October 09, 2007 at 06:57 AM
who did they poll? because if it was just stan, sheryl crow, and bill clinton, that doesn't count.
Posted by: | October 09, 2007 at 07:07 AM
Who did they poll? Jim Greer and the Crist Family?
Posted by: | October 09, 2007 at 07:25 AM
The Chamber is just trying to suck op to Charlie after their silly "poll" last year that showed Gallagher catching up to Charlie.
Posted by: | October 09, 2007 at 07:28 AM
well at least Zenator and I agree on something!
If the legislature pulls off tax reform, even the mild doubling the homestead Charlie is proposing while holding education harmless, his numbers will probably remain about the same.
Still I feel a mild undercurrent of discontent amongst voters in general due to Florida's deteriorating fiscal situation.
Whether they will blame that on CC remains to be seen.
I will give him credit for putting PIP back in play which probably gave him a small bump.

With Towery's numbers so close to Mason Dixon - you can see that they are rt on the spot. Quinnipiac's are like throwing darts.
Posted by: | October 09, 2007 at 08:46 AM
Hillary should be thrilled with these numbers. Crist is a shoo-in for the Democratic VEEP nomination.
Posted by: | October 09, 2007 at 09:00 AM
Of course these numbers are completely legitimate… ‘cause 4 out of 5 Dentists really do recommend Crest… and Choosy Mother do Choose Jiff.
… follow me over the cliff my little lemmings… follow meeeeeeeeee……
Posted by: | October 09, 2007 at 09:13 AM
This must really get the anticrist rubio/rivera butt boys in a tizzy. They hate anything good about CC. Well, only a little over 200 days and your boy is GONE long GONE.
Posted by: | October 09, 2007 at 09:31 AM
9:31 lets see what his #s are after Oct Then come back here and defend him again
Posted by: | October 09, 2007 at 10:27 AM
Towery's numbers are some of the worse in the business and flucate widely from month to month. After his temper tantrum last month claiming Thompson was leading Giuliani by a point he produces a poll this month showing Giuliani ahead by ten. He blew the GOP gubernatorial primary in 2006 and stated his reputation that Ralph Reed would in in Georgia as lietuenant governor. Lt. Governor Casey Cagle still laughes at that one.

Only thing Charlie might be 69% to the positive is in matching Comrade Billery Klinton in smoke & mirrors of actually doing something . I don't see where a shell game with insurance .... whether it be property or PIP ( which should have been let die ) to joining in with the consumer expensive idea of matching california extremism alledged "pollution" fixes . Then there's the pesky little thing on sucking up to the criminal population , that will soon be selling off thier absentee ballots to the highest bidder, and I would bet that will be financed by the george soros types that want to advance the liberal adgenda of controling not just the minority population but go on to the rest of the general population.

What’s that… Chuck admits he digs the “Man Juice”… and 79.3% of Republicons who hang out in men’s rooms approve of his poll?
Posted by: | October 09, 2007 at 01:55 PM
you 28 percent nut jobs are delusional
always were, Charlie gets support from the mainstream, not the far out wing or taliban wing of Florida
Posted by: | October 09, 2007 at 02:00 PM
The only "stream" Chuck gets support from is a golden shower from the Rube.
Posted by: | October 09, 2007 at 02:34 PM
I had political juice once...I drank it on-the-rocks and it was bitter and pretentious.
Posted by: politicalspectator | October 09, 2007 at 03:52 PM
These numbers are not old...
These numbers are not surprising...
We have a terrific Governor, who is doing a terrific job...
Posted by: | October 09, 2007 at 04:45 PM
political juice - more like political kool-aid
Posted by: | October 09, 2007 at 04:52 PM
We love this Governor. He gets what the majority of people have been wanting. The extremeist and those who may have financial gain if their candidate were in place, are so very angry that he is so popular. Keep doing the right thing.
Posted by: | October 09, 2007 at 06:56 PM
PIP went back in play without being fixed so Bogandoff could fend off a challenger. These people are so scared of getting beat by actually having to explain their actions. There must really be a pot of gold at the end of a 8 year term in that place.
