For Crist, a most un-conventional speech

Gov. Charlie Crist gave a speech at the end of Sunday's prayer breakfast at the Presidency IV convention that was anything but the bash-the-Democrats fodder that Republican activists like to hear.

Crist was not listed as a speaker on the breakfast program, and he was the last one to speak. Unlike his predecessor, Jeb Bush, Crist is not comfortable talking about faith in public -- it's one of the few topics he generally avoids.nd how

"You know, I don't talk about religion that much. It's sort of personal," Crist said. "But it's very meaningful to me."  He mentioned Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp's serious heart illness a few years ago that could have been fatal and "we almost lost him" but "God had a mission in mind for him."

Then Crist elicited audible groans from the crowd of more than 2,000 Republican activists when he spoke in glowing terms about his friend, Democratic U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler of Palm Beach County, who accompanied Crist to Israel last May. (The groans came right after Crist said it was important to be "respectful, tolerant and courteous" of others).

"He's a good man," Crist said of Wexler. "Not perfect, but a good man. He's a little vocal sometimes, I know." Crist told the story of putting a note in the Western Wall asking God to protect Florida from hurricanes, and said: "So far, so good," rapping his right fist on the wooden lectern.

"I pray every day, and lately I feel like the prayers have been answered. If we can just get one more on property taxes this week, L.G.," he said, referring to Kottkamp, "it will turn out fine, I'm sure."

Charlie and faith?
Charlie's like the little kid who prays God will give him some more candy.
Charlie and faith....?
Buhahahahaha......ahahahahahah......oh my......hahahahahahah.....that's a good one Charlie.....hahahahahahahaha.....I fell out of my seat after I read this......
Charlie, you're too funny.

Charile, ignore the tin foil hat loonytunes. The rest of us will in 2008

terminator
Is in fact this blogs biggest idiot.
sorta like all the spinning talking heads on TV and radio, they are almost never right about anything, yet the are always yapping on about something.

Leave termie alone- he is just trying to deal with his gayness- not that there is anything wrong with that :)

Charlie has a strong faith. He prays every night that people will forget what a failure he has been in cutting taxes and lowering insurance rates.

how stupid can charlie be to talk about wexler at the state gop convention?? he is making it far too easy for the gop to abandon him and his cheerleaders.

Just when I think that CC can't stoop to lower levels - he praises Wexler at the GOP convention? Has he finally lost what was left of his mind?

Can someone please remove that man from the people's house?

Robert Wexler? The guy that made a name for himself by calling Republicans racists? The guy who accused Jeb Bush of being a cheat and a thief? The same Robert Wexler that still tells people the 2000 election was stolen? What an insult to Florida Republicans for Charlie Crist to praise some one as despicably partisan as Robert Wexler.

Why didn't Jeb address the property tax crisis? Oh that's right, it 's a huge problem that will require bipartisanship to address.

Charlie is leading the Rs and Ds to work together- we have to, folks. That's where the voters are, and we are expecting some results. Crist showed what mean jackasses the religious right really is- they heckle anyone even at a prayer breakfast.

When are you hot heads going to get it?
Charlie is as usual, way ahead of his time. By 2012 Florida will have 2 non republicans for every republican. The Republicans are already a minority in Florida and losing ground with every day. Any leader that wants to lead will have to work for and with non republicans to get anything done.
If our districts are ever drawn by the Majority the Republicans would represent 33 percent of Florida

charlie is a disgrace at this point, using the tax crisis to get more PR for DEMS AT THE GOP CONVENTION!!

2:25 correct yourself, charlie is not LEADING and everyone is beginning to see the real behind the ads.

Charlie Crist is leading the D's and the R's and Florida allright. He is leading us all off a cliff.

how did we get so close to the cliff in the first place?

03:29 PM

Jeb and his honey Toni Jennings
driving us off the cliff just like those girls in Thelma & Louise.
Where are they now?
in some other state.

3:45 is a moron. Jeb was a great governor.

crist must really be out of touch, asking conservative republicans to be tolerant. what a joke, all they know is, if i dont like it we will ban it so no one can do it. to me they are no different than the taliban except our laws wont allow them to behead people for having sex or not going to church or any number of things they don't approve of

"knock on wood" yuk, yuk. what a hilarious joke about a problem that has the potential to destroy floridians' lives and wipe out our economy. maybe next he can get a rabbit's foot to ward of property tax spikes.

Crist's soundbites are annoying enough when he is talking about policies he doesn't know anything about. But if possible, he sounds even more ridiculous when talking about faith. "My LG was sick once, so I understand faith. Oh yeah, also, I put a piece of paper in that funny-looking wall once."

"The Tax Rally planned for 3:30 pm has been cancelled"

We're either going to get a worthless plan that doubles the homestead or we're going to get gridlock and no plan at all.

Either way, Charlie Crist has lost big on the property tax issue.

03:51 PM
Great at making Florida 50 in Education
What do you think? Our high property tax and high insurance began in Jan 07?
It all lays at Jeb's Foot, but he has moved to South Caraolina to tell them how to screw their state.

Terminator:

I offered this during the primary, and with every banal post you confirm it:

"what you are speaks so loudly I cannot hear what you say."

Zenatress:
then why do you post and speak of me?
apparently, I've hit a nerve with you.
I know Charlie Crist and Charlie is no christian conservative.

terminator
How do you know anything about anybody?
You don't, that is way you have NEVER been right about ANYTHING

Yup. Nobody would have EVER had to ask Jeb to appoint a Republican.

Charlie, deliver tax and insurance relief. Jumpstart the economy. And I will forgive you for your liberal tendacies. Otherwise, this will be your only term.

So is Charlie going to bend over for Wexler like he does for Geller?

I mean figuratively, of course...

9:24 he already did with the election bill-heck even Supervisor Arthur Anderson knows it!

Terminator:

I "speak of you" because you post on every thread, typically spewing vitriol. Your grasp of issues is thin, humor sophomoric and self-righteous judgment of anyone's religious commitment the clearest indication of your character.

Your guy, who was no paragon of virtue, lost. Badly.

well I guess you told me being the paragon of virtue that you are.
Must everything always go back to TG? Maybe he stood you up one night?
I think you're covering for Charlie's lack of...substance, maybe?
If I'm thin on the issues, he must be anorexic!

Termie you clearly DO NOT know Crist and your understanding of the Christian faith is in question as well. The fact that Crist doesn't flaunt his faith (neither did Reagan by the way) is incredibly refreshing.

4:09
that's probably because there's nothing to flaunt.
And I do know Charlie Crist and know he's a first rate phony-baloney who fooled a lot of folks.
But like the old Who song goes, "we won't get fooled again".
Now get back to putting Chuck's tanning oil on you minion!

Terminator:

Alas, the zenatress has no personal experience in such matters. I was merely pointing out that I find your rants to be banal to the point of imbecility.

We love you Governor. Keep doing and saying the right thing. If a person is a good person, despite their party affilition, we cannot be so partisan as not to admit that. That would make us idiots. There was a sheriffs race in a Florida County where a Democrat and a Republican were running. Sorry to say that the R candidate was a horrible candidate and had no ability to protect the community as sheriff, nonetheless protect my family. Being as nice as I can the R candidate was not a smart fellow at all. The D was smart, had experience and I felt I could trust him to take care of the community he would serve. There is no way in hell I would, or could vote for the R guy and would not say other wise even when pushed by the local RRC and the R clubs. It was insane to support the bad R guy over the good D guy.

Meant REC, not RRC
