Gravel's excellent adventure
Mike Gravel seemed more concerned about the wasted food. He had just finished a campaign stop and was at Sam Seltzer's Steakhouse for a fundraiser. There were platters of crackers, cheese, fruit and shrimp, but no one there to eat them. "I'm sorry," Bertrand Burnbaum, an organizer, told Gravel. "If we just had more time, we could have got some people here."
It was just another day on the campaign trail for Gravel, who made several stops in the Tampa Bay area Wednesday. The former Alaska senator vying for the Democratic presidential nomination has been called the longest of long shots, Candidate Asterisk, the one who provides "comic relief" in a campaign full of overly scripted encounters. But for all the derisive descriptions, Gravel is the one and only Democratic candidate willing to campaign in the Sunshine State. More .

It could have been worse. It could have been his birthday party with no one there.

Take Brownback's cue: drop out of the race.

It’s really sad, but indicative of the Democratic Party’s organizations in the Tampa Bay area. They’re freaking clueless. When are you Party morons going to get it?
Democrats are too busy to pay attention, because they’re working 2 & 3 jobs just to pay their insanely-high insurance, taxes, and healthcare costs created by the “oh, so conservative” Republicons.
Of course, having an idiot for a National Party leader, and a plant for a State Party leader doesn’t help either.

There was a "standing room only" crowd of 200 people aged 19 - 91 cheering Senator Gravel's frank talk at St. Petersburg College twenty minutes before this picture was taken. Why didn't the photographer come to that event?
