Jeb and Charlie support licenses for illegals too
Be careful Republican presidential hopefuls about jumping too hard on Hillary Clinton's nebulous debate answer last night on whether illegal immigrants should be granted drivers licenses. As Politico's Jonathan Martin notes, Jeb Bush supported the same thing in 2004: "“We shouldn't allow them to come into the country to begin with, but once they're here, what do you do?" Bush told the AP at the time. "Do you basically say that they're lepers to society? That they don't exist? … A policy that ignores them is a policy of denial."
What's more, Charlie Crist last year said he supported drivers licenses for illegals too, "in limited circustances."
Statement from RPOF Chairman Jim Greer today: “Instead of providing leadership on the important issues like tax relief or immigration, Clinton spent two hours dodging and weaving on every major issue. Instead of talking about how she will protect our country or provide more openness in government, Clinton defensively attacked the President. Given this performance, Floridians should be thankful that Hillary Clinton is boycotting Florida. Voters in Florida deserve principled leadership, and solid results, which Hillary reminded us that she clearly lacks."

Is there any group that CC won't pander to? He even panders to people who can't vote for him.

He might have agreed but he didn't promise. He watches everything that he says he's dumb.

No Licenses, Rudy is wrong on the issue as well. Again, he's the same as Hillary on this issue. Do you folks really want to be choosing b/w the lesser of two evils next November? Do not vote for Rudy for the Republican nomination, crystal clear!!

wouldn't it be easier to track illegals if they are in a state computer?
it's like walking into a bear trap for them

This Neo-Con way of thinking has no rational thought process.
The respect for the rule of law should prevail. "Illegals" are here unlawfully, and should follow the example our ancestors gave.
Enter here legally and earn your status as a U.S. Citizen.
That is not too much to ask.

12:58 hit the nail on the head. The more info we have on them, the better

Show me one illegal that is going to go to the DMV and register for a license, and I will show you a complete and utter fool.
Posted by: | October 31, 2007 at 01:16 PM
Register and tag them with fingeprints when they get their licenses. They should also be given a DNA swab for the FDLE database.

How many of our families entered illegally. If your family entered prior to Ellis Island or other centers there is a good chance that you entered illegally.

Anybody care to chime on Jeb's (the greatest governor the state has ever known despite the fact that everything is crumbling around us) support of this clearly flawed plan. Or is this where you resemble hear and see no evil?
Posted by: | October 31, 2007 at 01:31 PM
Note to Jeb: SHUT UP ANG GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE FOR GOD’S SAKE!
But to recap your ignorance in case people still think you were anything but another minion political hack…
“We shouldn't allow them to come into the country to begin with…”
Try convincing YOUR BROTHER of that, will you. If you’ve got to go to Babs, then do it.
“…but once they're here, what do you do?”
Simple, bonehead… round them up and ship them back!
“Do you basically say that they're lepers to society?”
No, dipstick… you confirm that they are breaking our laws, are a drain on social services (ie: our taxes), and are a method of corporate welfare that carry foreign diseases into our country.
“That they don't exist?”
No, puppetboy… just check your local grass median, farm, and/or roofing job.
“A policy that ignores them is a policy of denial.”
I repeat, nipplenose: Try convincing YOUR BROTHER of that, will you. If you’ve got to go to Babs, then do it.

I heard that ICE will be handling the licensing process in Florida.
Posted by: | October 31, 2007 at 01:42 PM
I heard Rudy on Glen Beck today and he is ABSOLUTELY against licenses for illegal immigrants.
quit spreading lies.

copied from another string:
Arlene; it’s going to take more than a laptop to Eddie back this time. He is the one that knows everything about you and the way you back stab people. He knows all your screw-ups from the campaign to the governor’s office. I can’t wait for him to start blogging.
Shouldn’t there be a new release about Arlene’s long time assistance leaving or was he fried. If he left where’s he going or if he was fired what did he do to get fired.

1:43 you might as well ask them to quit breathing.

1:34 this is old news, read the article.
An attempt at spin on a slow news day.
Jeb was a great governor even if he got a few things wrong, he was still the best. It's doubtful anyone will surpass the accomplishments he achieved in this state.

Jeb was (is) a self-serving, corporate puppet of a political hack!
Just like his brother.

why are illegals here? Shouldn't that be the first question we should address? Not if they should get a license (again begging the legit question, should an illegal be given the same privilege of legals? Seeing they are here...illegally!)

I think the fundamental difference here between Jeb and Hillary/Crist is that Bush stated unequivocally where he stands on this issue. I don't agree with him on it, but at least he is honest about it.
I still don't know where Hillary or Crist stand on the issue...and that is the mark of someone you just can't trust.

I think both Hillary and Chuck use the same brand of hair dye! Loreal… because their NOT worth it!

Does anyone think that “illegal’s” is anyone other than Mexicans? Do you think that if someone named Mohamed was “illegal” they would give him a drivers license? My niece is a legal resident, here on a school visa. She must renew her license every year and prove that she is still in school. Should the standard for her be more than the standard for someone who comes across our border illegally? She receives no government assistance nor is she permitted to work. She uses money that she has saved and private student loans to pay for school and support herself. In the end, there is no guarantee that she will be permitted to stay in the country.
Don’t get me wrong, I believe the extra hoops that she must jump through are a good thing. But it is wrong to have different standards for those who do not follow the rules. I am all for a guest worker program for people who come here legally. Everyone illegal must return to their home country. I don’t care if their name is Juan or Mohamed.

My family came to America before Ellis Island. America was once called "the melting pot" but now illegals are getting all the benefits without having to "melt"
We are losing our country to illegals, The North American Union, LOST Treaty (look that one up if you want to realize how threatened our country is) and guess what... it is falling apart around us and everyone is numb because they are driving new cars, mortgaged up to their eyeballs and letting daycare raise their kids. People are trying to survive and too busy to pay attention.
Our elected officals care more about illegal kids than legal. DREAM amnesty that they keep trying to revive lets illegals pay in-state tuition while legal kids get to pay double if they want to go to school in another state.
Rudy may not be for licenses for illegals but he sure has a stake in the 12 lane highway that Cintra is going to build- look up Trans Texas Corridor. So no only will there be roads making it easier for illegals to enter well... foreigners will get to collect the tolls from us. Look it up.

The illegals are here to give cheap labor that can be pushed around, if not pushed into prostitution. Republican employers love it. Who cares about the homeless in Williams Park? Good God, they may want a living wage and a forty hour work week. You won't hear any of that crap from an illegal alien. Give 'em a license so we can get the ten bucks out of 'em, anyway.

Look and see, before you cry about illegal immigration, who since 2000, has been our glorious leadership. Then look to see who's been making the big money. Anyone making under $100,000 a year who votes Republican should be in therapy.

Please, Rep. and Dems. are just hybrids of each other, and to say other wise is just pure stupidity..It's about the North American Union, and no, it's not a good thing either.
