Rudy ticks off activists
Sam Newby, vice chairman of Florida Federation of Black Republicans and president of the Jacksonville-area Joseph E. Lee Republican club, is known as a tireless campaign worker and until Saturday had been an ardent Rudy Giuliani supporter. No longer. Like a number of African-American Republicans we spoke to, he's jumped to Team Romney after Rudy opted not to pop into the Black Republicans reception Saturday.
"As African-Americans, we're not going to be taken for granted any more,'' said Newby, pictured here. "That sent a message to me that we're not good enough to come talk to, and that means he's not good enough for me to support."
Fred Thompson dropped by to see the 300 people there, and Romney not only spent 35 minutes but also hosted an ice cream reception for party activists. "This was a huge issue with the Federation,'' Newby said.

lets face it, the contemporary repiglican stalwart is more of the opinon that anyone other than the wealthywhitewmale is less-than-human.
will trudi pandering to people of color gain him any significant votes?
noooooooooooooooo!!
would that possibly upset the racists calling the shots in the gop?
of course!!!!

"As African-Americans, we're not going to be taken for granted any more,''
Tell that to the Democrats, not Republicans.

I guess Newby is a newbie. What a complete fool. He's jumped off a sailing ship to a sinking ship.
Did Rudy even know about the event?
Was he invited?
Was the event last minute?
Did Newby try to intervene with Rudy's staff?
Did he approach the Governor himself?
What a complete and utter fool to base one's support on attending a reception.

Just a typical young republican cut from the same cloth as the clown leadership of the Florida Young Republicans.
I bet the Romney YR sychophant leadership is out in full force in Orlando... getting those pictures taken with the candidate (BORING!). But in small town Florida, those pics have currency I guess.

WOW
he does not go to a hip hop party and they jump ship?
Maybe ole Mitt just had more dollars to pass out
Posted by: | October 21, 2007 at 04:51 PM
The clown princes of the YR leadership probably steered Newby to Romney. This was all orchestrated in advance, just like the Young Republican Straw poll earlier this year. Its just a method to get in the news. Expect more of these idiotic episodes from the stooges that run the YRs (and the Romney campaign).

Na the Old South just has to play the Gay Card, and then they will get your vote. And then stick it too you big time.

This has Jon Woodard of the Florida Young Republicans written all over it.
What black would possibly jump ship to join the single digit imploding campaign of Willard Romney? And remember, Romney has participated in the Mormon baptism of non-Mormon dead people according to Newsweek.
But like most Florida Young Republican initiatives, it is doomed to fail. Just another stupid stunt like their straw poll earlier this year.

What are black republicans going to do for anyone black or white?
Posted by: | October 21, 2007 at 06:17 PM
5:13, the only thing 'single digit' is your IQ. Romney has doubled his numbers in the last month and is now at 17 in Florida and in a statistical dead heat with Fred Thompson.
Your post shows that you are a multi-faceted bigot: you hate people based on race and religion.

Not attending a party (reason: unkown). Yup. There's a REAL issue to pick a candidate over .

6:41 all I can say about your post at this stage is:
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Posted by: | October 21, 2007 at 07:17 PM
And it took Mitt how many millions to get to that astounding 17%????
As I said: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Posted by: | October 21, 2007 at 07:17 PM
If it doesn't matter then why are all you Rudy staffers blogging on it?
Posted by: | October 21, 2007 at 07:26 PM
And for all you Romney haters (and FYI I'm not voting for him), if you don't think Romney is poised to win this nomination if he wins iowa and new hampshire you're an idiot. The republican support is very fluid (much more so then the Dems) and the 14 straight days of pub if he wins those first two states will probably launch him into first in South Carolina (where he's only down five). If he wins SC put a fork in this race.

Blacks are going to vote for Hillary...She promises them cradle to grave support....That's what they want...They do not care about the issues that plague the average working American..
And as someone said earlier in this post...What a stupid reason to vote/not vote for someone.."because they did not come to my party"....Forget terrorism, forget illegal alines bankrupting our country, forget the housing meltdown...and all the other ills facing our country....
"He didn't show up for my party" Boo-Hoo ...what is this high school ???!!!
Stupid people are always on the wrong side of the issues anyway!!!

Emeric:
You're a disgusting racist, and not a very bright one at that. Presumably, at one point your ancestors were also "alines" on our shore. Too bad they decided to breed.

Sam you Rock, and I can't wait to help you bring Our Man Mitt on to D.C.!
"Life is a Highway"!
That's right Rudy, Sam got out of the left lane and back in the right.
Welcome aboard.

7:31 that of course is what Romney is counting on...using the classic strategy to win the nomination...but things could change quickly if Giuliani wins the primary in Florida, New York, and California. The race is certainly still wide open. The real question is whether the top 5 candidates (Giuliani, Romney, McCain, Thompson and Huckabee) stay in for the duration....if so it will be a wild finish...if not...who will survive? Romney has $, Thompson and Giuliani have the name ID....
Posted by: | October 22, 2007 at 04:05 PM
How damn stupid. Because he could not show up you switch to an extremist candidate who will leave you in the dust if he is elected. Romney speaks out of both sides of his mouth. How can you believe him. He flip flops all the time.
Posted by: | October 22, 2007 at 07:20 PM
So tell me how much credibility Newby will have now that he jumps from one campaign to another because of this one incident? He has been seen talking against where Gov. Romney stands on certain issues.
For an intelligent man, what a DUMB move. Nice job.
Posted by: | October 22, 2007 at 09:49 PM
So this man doesn't have the right to switch candidates? If anyone's DUMB, it appears to be the posters here. Doesn't the Klan have a blog for some of you folks?
Posted by: | October 22, 2007 at 10:04 PM
Seen that it wasn't a race-oriented moment, my mind wasn't even thinking about that.
It seems like someones ego was bruised and this was all set up to be a Photo Opportunity for Newbys agenda that failed.
