A matter of PRIDE

PRIDE Enterprises, the St. Pete-based nonprofit that provides jobs and employment skills to Florida prison inmates, is being targeted for elimination by corrections chief Jim McDonough, who says PRIDE is obsolete and that the state can do a better job.

But McDonough has his work cut out for him. In the Legislature, Republicans and Democrats alike say PRIDE, despite brushes with scandal a few years ago, is doing a good job and should be left alone. More here.

Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Charlie Crist; Arlene DiBenigno's long time assistant Eddie was fired yesterday for breaking Arlene's trust by going to some Halloween party that didn't even involve work. Talk about power going to someone head or maybe she was upset that she wasn’t invited. With power like this people might start to talk about all of her little dirty secrets.

I hope Eddie is moving because you are going to make him radioactive for a long time by having temper tantrums on blogs.

Eddie is still there, dude, you need to chill.

The move to eliminate PRIDE is simply a mechanism to preserve headcount in the corrections department.

He had to be rehired today so they could clean up Arlen's mess.
Was what you wanted to say DUDE.
Eddie could have sued her, how would that have looked DUDE, a Deputy Chief Of Staff being sued over firing someone without out cause.

11;39 Florida is an "at will" state. Plus, political positions serve at the pleasure. Folks can be fired without cauase, anytime.

The state probably wants the program run by a private "for profit" company.

11:39 - cause is not needed for getting rid of many staffers. Unless this Eddie was classified as Career Service, he can be let go without reason.

Now, not being an attorney - so I can't say for sure, if a reason is given that is completely and utterly invalid or something else like saying he is being fired for beiing gay, maybe there would be recourse...

If the assistant to the Deputy Chief of staff is career, then someone better reorganize the office.

Susan, I am dissappointed you didn't blame President Bush - better keep the the taking points, otherwise you could lose favor with those in charge.

I agree the position shouldn't be Career Service, but I have seen strange things in state employee classifications...

Whatevs, he laughed when I asked him, so make of that what you will. Your conspiracy theory is more interesting, though.

I think every damn one of you "waste of my taxes" staffers blogging on our dime should be kicked to the curb on you as*es!

And where are you typing from, 12:22?

What does any of this gossip have to do with the posting?

12.32 The rules say 6 degrees of separation on blogs. THerefore anyone can write anything

12:27,

Not from a taxpayer-owned computer, sitting in a taxpayer-owned office… nor am I being paid by taxpayers to work for another taxpayer-funded waste of human flesh I call a criminal and you call “Boss”…

The biggest waste of our tax dollars – aside from the criminals you punks work for – are you bloated-ego, over-paid, bathroom toe-tapping perverted minions with a title.

Where is our Romney Newsweek poster? He's been missing for a couple of days.

wanna see example of unhinged? i direct you to 12:41.

and now for the next creature in the "progressive" cicurs...

wanna see example of government waste? i direct you to 12:50.

And now, for the next creature in the public bathroom, toe-tapping circus…

This constant blogging and gossiping by employees of the Governor is a F&%KING embarrassment!!

Mostly an embarrassment to him but also to every individual that works for him.

1:33,

I concur… BUT… in actuality, they are “our” employees, paid with “our” tax dollars… just like Chuck!

And I say it’s time to give them all the pink slip. Of course you’d have to take it off Chuck first…;-)

The whole office is a joke, people all over town talk about it. George is a nice guy, but not a good Manager of Staff. Plus Erin, Arlene and others are not helping because they dont know what there doing. Jeb's office never ran like this.

Please, would somebody tell us how much Meredith is paid by the RPOF for " Fund Raising" Does she get bonuses for gossiping and talking behind the Governor and Chairman's back.

The Chairman is a nobody who gives a crap what he thinks!

Screw printing… put them in the fields to pick fruit, and deport the illegals. Now that… it paying back your debt to society – and – homeland security!

I worked there (PRIDE) for many years... After Eckerd left, the whole group stopped being about the mission and became a paycheck. It's time to start over or give it back to DC. They at least will obey the law (regarding comp & perks provided by vendors).
