Crist seeks big bucks for property tax vote

Money_bag Gov. Charlie Crist is wrapping his high approval ratings around the shoulders of business interests and asking for a favor: $500,000 or more to promote the property tax cut plan on the Jan. 29 ballot.

From the cozy confines of the Governor's Club, Crist made his pitch to the Florida Chamber of Commerce, the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association, Florida Retail Federation and others.

At least one group had a lukewarm reaction to last week's proposal. "It's always a challenge to raise a lot of money," said Carol Dover of the restaurant association, who like others contacted Wednesday was reluctant to spill details. "But we certainly recognize you have to raise money to make sure the message gets out. We're going to raise what we're able to raise." (Full story here.)

Probably get a better response if Marco asked for donations to the 1.35% cap initiative... at least the benefits businesses...

asked the same group that is...

What do all you Marco bashing Crist lovers have to say now that your beloved is doing the same thing?

Marco is supporting the better plan.

Crist has screwed the business community since the day he took office...the fact they are even giving him tepid support shows that their support of his policies hang by a thread...He has ignored economic development and growth opportunities since taking office. The national perspective of many CEOs is that "Florida is closed for business"

I'd tell Cristyqueer to take a flying leap!!

What happened to all the well heeled donors who poured $30 million into Charlie's campaign?
Surely, raising $500K would be like snapping your fingers.
It would seem that maybe a lot of folks who donated money to CC's campaign aren't all that enamored with him presently?
Who are all these folks who rate him so highly in the polls?
Must be Billy Bob in his double wide over in Riverview or Grandma at the Sunset Manor nursing home on St. Pete Beach.
Do business people really support Charlie Crist?
I think not.

Every day the true motivation behind the GOP tax plan becomes more obvious. First, it was "we want to help the poor overtaxed citizens of Florida" but when your own Sentate sponsors a bill which will do just that, you're exposed and forced to tell the real truth. Every tax plan you've concocted has been primarily for the benefit of the wealthy. So quit lying to folks and jest admit that the GOp is wholly owned and operated by corporate donors.

10:19 - come back - please come back from the dark ages - this is 2007 going on 08 - in this era, the money flows to whose in power - when dems took over nationally all the corporate money went their way - come out of your cocoon our your mother's basement - it's better out here in the daylight.
