Dan Webster digs Huckabee
There aren't many Florida endorsements left that matter a whole lot, but it seems to us this one carries real weight: State Sen. Dan Webster announced his allegiance to Huckabee, accompanying the former Arkansas governor to campaign stops in Tampa.
"I love Mike Huckabee...I haven't made anything public yet but it's pretty obvious why I'm here,'' said Webster. "...He's a breath of fresh air, and I think he's got the ability to build a coalition similar to what Ronald Reagan built."
Story is here.

No surprise there...

Kurt Kelly was the first!

gee, maybe Huckabee can help us cut our property taxes since Senator Webster sure didn't care to!

Webster is the leading social conservative in the Legislature.
You can bet he wasn't going to endorse the Mormon.

So instead the "lead conservative" endorses someone with no prayer to win, a fiscal liberal& that is prudent?
Not!

Senator Dan Webster is well respected and his endorsement is important.

Huckabee is the best Republican candidate for president. He's truly consistent conservative across the board -- not a converted conservative like others in the race. He's got an inspirational story to tell. And he has shown in his personal life that he can keep his eye on a goal and remain resolute. Unlike some who use tragedy to boost their own profile, Huckabee is a God-fearing man who I trust to battle the Islamic facists who would attack us here at home.

And yet Webster was a supporter of former U.S. Senator Paula Hawkins, a Mormon. Maybe a little research before charging religious bigotry?

Maybe Webster should do like all the band wagon politicos whose endorsements are based only on who they think will win instead of who they think would be the best in office.

Webster endorsed Gallagher, and that worked out peachy.

It was nice to see Mayor Rick Baker at the Huckabee fundraiser yesterday. It looks like he may make it official soon.

Dan Webster is SO OVER! Please, go home and get a Real Job! You've been living on the public dole for so many years you should be brought before the ethics commission for such a violation of the spirit of term limits!!!

Huckabee is a conniving snake-oil saleman who is willing to tax the middle-class in order to promote his own sanctimonious agenda. True conservative? Give me a break. There's a reason that Arkansas conservatives who suffered through his reign are dead-set against his presidential bid.
When will America wake up and realize that pandering intellectual lightweights with an analytical approach grounded in the Dark Ages are the last people we need leading the nation at this time? We need smart leaders, not smarmy televangelists who have mastered the sound-bite and little else.

Dan the Dinosaur, needs to die and reinvent himself as a lobbyist!
Posted by: | November 21, 2007 at 08:58 PM
Dinosaurs never existed because the Earth is only 6,000 years old. Dinosaurs were killed by the Great Flood which was visited upon us because God was displeased.

Dan's "well respected" status has changed in the last few years. Dishonesty was not his lifestyle until he took control of the Senate and since it is his last term, anything goes Dan has been doing things that have certainly changed the Holyier than thou status. If you do not know that, you really do not know what is happenning in the real legislature.

8:26 "Kurt Kelly" A peeon. Who cares who he endorsed? Stop blogging Kurt.
Just another Right wing etremeist! He even voted against his own district on water issues. He could be toast next election. He should be.

Like most politicians who stay too long in office, Webster lost his moral compass. He became a do-nothing on issues important to conservatives, unwilling to band with other senate conservatives to get something done. He and Posey are in the death thros of their legislative runs and the perfect examples of why term limits are so necessary.
