DNC to Florida (again): Drop dead

National Democrats today released their hotel assignments for the Democratic National Convention in Denver. And which rooms did Democrats from all-important Florida get? The Ritz? The Four Seasons? Not quite.

Florida Democrats have been assigned no rooms. Zip. Nada. Nil. As in, try a youth hostel, Florida. With all of Florida's convention delegates stripped away for violating the primary schedule, the DNCC saw no need to find space for Sunshine staters. (full story here.)

"I am confident that our most important guests at the 2008 Demiocratic convention - our delegates - will be pleased with their accommodations and enjoy their stay in the Mile High City,''  said a statement from Leah Daughtry, CEO of the Democratic National Convention Committee.

Florida Democratic spokesman Mark Bubriski: "As Convention Chair Nancy Pelosi and DNC Chairman Howard Dean have said, the Presidential nominee ultimately determines who attends the Convention. We are confident that the nominee will reinstate our delegation and that there will be more than adequate housing for Florida delegates and guests among the 17,000 Convention hotel rooms in Denver... and maybe even one for Adam Smith at the Super 8 in Cheyenne."

For now, the continued wrangling is the source of much amusement for Republicans. They also face sanctions for the early primary but don’t seem to care much .

Unlike top Democrats, who have signed a pledge not to campaign in Florida, Republicans are tripping all over themselves to grab a piece of the state’s huge media markets.

“The DNC continues to punish Florida at its own peril,” said state. Rep. David Rivera, R-Miami, who helped lead the effort to move up the primary and play a bigger role in
the election process. “I welcome their continued missteps,” Rivera added. “It can only help the Republican presidential candidate come next November. ”

Sucks to be a Florida Dem delegate.

Dean should at least send some KY to the Dems in Florida for bending them over.

Dean couldn’t buy any KY, UF Student… because there wasn’t any left. Seems you butt-pirates in Gainesville bought it all up for after this weekends game!

POW… OH… THANK YOU AND GOOD NIGHT EVERYBODY! I’LL BE HERE ALL WEEK, TRY THE VEAL AND DON’T FORGET TO TIP YOU WAITRESS!

… cause we know the boys in Gainesville go for the waiters! OH, POP… AND CALL IT A SNAP!

… I’m out.

3:08

That's the kind of crap you'd expect to hear from an all girls school. When was last time you had less than 5 losses in a season?

And it'll be our pleasure beating you with all freshmen on the basketball court too!

Go Gators!

I heard you freaks dug "Fresh-Men"... Check with your boy "UF Student", I'm sure he could spare a tube of grease for you!

Democrats: The Party of Disenfranchisement.

Nice comeback, 3:40. Let me guess, you're over 50 aren't you?

No, I’m under 50… and you, my pickle-sniffing little freak… were under UF Student last night.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! and the beat goes on.

IT'S GREAT TO BE A REPUBLICAN IN FLORIDA! We are getting our second debate, all the candidates are coming and going(and not ONLY for the $.
Can't wait for Jan. 29th.

GOP REC MEMBER

Hey Gene Smith, Susan S and the rest of the Florida Kossacks: you're doing a GREAT job of blogging Florida blue. Better starting making up lame excuses now why the state goes red in 2008.

This is so funny. The democrat party disenfranchising its own in Florida. Come on now, say it with me now, (you know you want to)
Count Every Vote, Count Every Vote, Count Evry Vote!

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

Go hold up a sign in front of the Capitol that always works real well too.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

I just can't stop laughing

HA HA HA HA HA HA, EEEYAHHHH!

Democrats & Hillary can kiss Florida & the White House goodbye.

I got something Howard Dean can kiss. I hope he realizes that he will never be welcomed in Florida again. I hope he gets snow up to his ying yang and wants to get some of sun. Sorry Howard all the rooms are full.

Dhimmicrats, start practicing your whine now: "Rethugs stole another election."

The Democrats have gone from "Let every vote count." to "Let NO vote count."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

And Republicans have gone from count no vote to count no vote? I see. Let's pretend the Republicans have no sanctions so it's just the Dems trying to keep a state in line in the twisted primary schedule. Florida Dems will be seated. They won't be at the Super 8. But isn't this like the kid who's told he'll be punished if he commits some offense becoming totally indignant that his parent follows through and actually punishes him for the offense. The election is still going to happen and as the nation pays attention to the early states and the delegate rich Feb. 5 primaries, all Florida show for itself is the opening of "Bob Allen, The Musical!"

This new incident of rudeness destroys the Florida Democratic leaders pretense that our primary votes still matter even though they don't count.

How dumb do they think we are?

How can any Florida incumbent be worthy of any Florida voter's vote if he or she doesn't stand up and say that votes are the most important thing in elections--the only important thing?

Now, these simpering cowards--party leaders, local elected leaders, state legislators and even some Congressmen and one senator are left to ducking and hoping their voters will forget that they went along with the statewide disenfranchisement--whole in one party and half in the other.

Purge them all. Purge the national committee members who voted to take our votes away. Purge the state and local party leaders who are knuckling under to the national committees. Purge the local elected officials who haven't gone strongly on record against the DNC. Purge the state legislators who sat on their hands rather than passing laws to require the counting of our votes. Purge the Congressmembers and the one senator who didn't work to pass national laws as soon as millions of votes were voided by party bosses.

This applies to Republicans as much as Democrats. Nothing should matter more than counting votes. To hell with them all!

Let them live in Iowa where they are heroes.

Of course, if it doesn't matter to us, we deserve the elected representatives we've got and the precedent that has been set.

How about a National Primary, and skipping the costly, and mostly irrelevant coronations. It's been over 30 years since anything newsworthy, or unexpected ALMOST happened at these overpriced parties for the true believers. More like 60 years since any such thing actually happened!
