Gelber the cockroach?
Congrats to Dan Gelber (on the right), who made Hotline's quote of the
day, hammering the DNC over its Florida punishment policy with an erudite allusion. ("If I wake up as a roach tomorrow, I'll know we've reached there." -- FL House Min. Leader Dan Gelber (D), on the WH primary calendar's "almost Kafka levels of lunacy," Palm Beach Post, 11/8. )
Not sure how many candidates ride Kafka references into statewide office, though.

Gelber for US Senate!
Posted by: | November 08, 2007 at 02:14 PM
i agree. Please run, so i can get a job and leave tallahassee.
Posted by: | November 08, 2007 at 02:18 PM
Every time this moron opens his mouth, cockroaches crawls out. I wouldn’t want this dope to run water, let alone run for higher office. Better yet, run home, so we can’t get someone with half a freaking brain in there.

Aronberg for US Senate!
Posted by: | November 08, 2007 at 02:33 PM
2:33 - you clueless lunatic. Gelber is one of the greatest opposition leaders the D's have had since they lost control in the 90s. He is a star and represents with class, the minority opinion.
Posted by: Lifelong Republican | November 08, 2007 at 02:39 PM
Gelber is a good guy.
Posted by: | November 08, 2007 at 02:41 PM
Wasn't Gelber voted the smartest member of the FL Senate? 2:33 you are the moron.
Posted by: | November 08, 2007 at 02:49 PM
Gelber has to be smart, his staff is too busy blogging on his bahalf to read a book.
GET BACK TO WORK; MINDLESS PUNKS!
Posted by: | November 08, 2007 at 03:10 PM
Too bad Gelber isn't a mobster. "Gelber the cockroach" would be a pretty cool name.
Posted by: | November 08, 2007 at 03:40 PM
2:49 - hey dumbass he's not in the Senate
and 3:10 - gonna call you the "tattler", you're always spotting those staffers hiding behind anonymity - but heck without the staffers what blog comments would you be able to read? reading your comments is about as interesting as one commentor correcting another's use of "their" vs. "they're" or "behalf" vs. "bahalf".
Posted by: | November 08, 2007 at 04:25 PM
I’ve got something you’re (did you catch that, “you’re”) good at “Tattling”, you pickle-sniffing, butt-pirate! You’re (catch it again monkey-stick, did ya?)… as intellectually stimulating as a freaking terd!

And the question collectively heard all around RPOF today: "What is a kafka?"
Posted by: | November 08, 2007 at 05:02 PM
And the question collectively heard all around Florida today: "Who cares about dems who reference kafka?"
Posted by: | November 08, 2007 at 05:14 PM
4:42 - you must be the intellectually stimulated terd.

Somebody, quick! Get the RAID!
Posted by: | November 08, 2007 at 06:30 PM
I agree, Aronberg for US Senate! Dave is the man!
Posted by: | November 08, 2007 at 07:06 PM
Gelber has been a tremendous House Dem Leader but I like Dave Aronberg a lot and would support him if he ran for the Senate. I am hoping Dave will run in 1 race and Gelber will run in another. Aronberg for Senate, Rod Smith for Governor, Gelber for Attorney General perhaps would work.
Posted by: | November 08, 2007 at 07:21 PM
I appreciate that people like Aronberg and I personally like the guy a lot, but how in the world would he make a better statewide candidate than Dan Gelber?
Aronberg is a smart young guy who had a very short career prior to politics, and he has little to no statewide reach.
Gelber is also a smart guy with a resume a mile long prior to politics, including a decade as a federal public corruption and civil rights prosecutor and a three year stint as Sam Nunn's chief counsel, where he worked on counterterrorism issues. More than that, he led the most successful cycle in generations for legislative Democrats and raised record amounts for his party.
Help me understand this???
Posted by: | November 08, 2007 at 08:42 PM
8:42-you make excellent points. For me it is personal, I know Dave well and have a lot of respect for the guy. He is a young guy with a very impressive resume and has the ability to do very well in politics. With that being said, I totally agree with you RE: Gelber. He has been an outstanding House Dem Leader and will be a great state Senator. Also has a very impressive resume with Nunn and as a US Attorney. There both very attractive statewide candidates and it is my hope that a deal will be reached where Aronberg will run in one race and Gelber in another, they both have a great deal of talent and it would be a shame to see them square off against each other instead of working together for a better Florida.

Back to the original posting - yes, Gelber is a cockroach.
Posted by: | November 08, 2007 at 09:39 PM
Aronberg isn't ready for a successful US Senate run. He would still be perceived as a high school kid if he ran, even with the Harvard education, D.C. background, etc.
He would work for any cabinet post-- even Ag/Consumer Services commissioner, or US Congress.
US Senate, Aronberg needs a few more years.

Gelber and Geller the reason our property taxes will not come down. When is the last time they aske their voters "how do you want me to vote?"
They are too busy telling us why we should love how they vote and what they do.
We need new blood who will ask the people not tell them.
We also need elected officials who tell their wife not to blog! Mrs. G, it is so obvious when you blog, you might as well just sign your name

Is this Kafka guy a lobbyist? Why hasn't he hosted a fundraiser yet?
Posted by: GOP Brain Trust | November 09, 2007 at 08:07 AM
5:50... you must have been home-schooled and watched TV instead of reading your grammar books. Subject-verb issues.

Chucklehad, I am a federal prosecutor. You are inconsequential.

"There art two cardinal sins from which all others spring: Impatience and Laziness." F.K.
Apparently Kafka read these blog postings
Posted by: Ed | November 09, 2007 at 08:33 AM
Funny, I can remember Jeb referencing Kafka, but not on the campaign trail. And Mrs. G, it's kind of odd to be in the position of telling someone they're inconsequential. On this blog you are a blond, blue-eyed, 26-year-old Rhodes Scholar if you say your are.

Dan is smart and effective - two things that are truly rare in Tallahassee these days. Term limits have created a real mess in the capital and it is increasingly run by career bureaucrats rather than our elected representatives. More men like Dan Gelber are needed to rise above the mess and take charge.
Posted by: ALW | November 09, 2007 at 11:31 AM
I thought the stuff known to “rise above the mess “… was called odor?
Posted by: | November 09, 2007 at 12:01 PM
Aronberg can beat any Democrat in a primary should there be one.
Posted by: | November 09, 2007 at 01:44 PM
Beating Democrats isn't the same as winning elections.
Posted by: | November 09, 2007 at 02:05 PM
... just ask Bob Allen!
Posted by: | November 09, 2007 at 02:48 PM
1:44PM: So Aronberg beats Sink? I don't think so. Nor does he beat Gelber or Rod Smith, should he run.
Posted by: | November 09, 2007 at 03:49 PM
Aronberg has done nothing but sell iut to the Republicans since he has been in the Senate. We had so much hope for him but he chose to cater to the R's. Someone told me along time ago that he owed a lot to Pruitt, I guess they were right. Gelber is a very smart man and the R's are worried they cannot buy him like they did Aronberg.
