Gov. YouTube
Gov. Charlie Crist has his own YouTube debate question for the presidential candidates. He begins by explaining Florida's hurricane catastrophe fund, then asks:
"Would you support a national fund that would provide similar protection for homeowners throughout our country? Protection from wild fires, floods, tornadoes and other catastrophes."
Don't expect to see the question on TV, though. It was not submitted in time. Rather, the Republican Party of Florida said it is intended to promote the debate.

Why would someone in Alaska want to pay for your failed policies in insurance? Why don't you be a man, if possible, and switch parties?
You, sir, are not a Republican. I have never been more disappointed in a political figure that I have supported.

Guess is was a slow photo-op day, so CC needed to get his picture out there somehow... wonder how much staff time (i.e. tax dollars) it took to create the video?

WHAT! Chuck is jumping in on a photo op?… why, I never heard of such a thing.
Hey Chuck… here’s a question you should ask… “As a candidate for President, would you lie you’re a*s off to get elected… like I did?”
Chuck Crist, “The People’s Mistake”

I would love to see the candidate call Chuck on the carpet saying his decisions in relation to Florida's insurance woes are his own doing...
However, if the question is one of those selected, the responses will be wishy-washy at best.

national cat fund! what a great idea! socialism can now stretch beyond our state borders!

Should the insurance lobbyisis - I mean shills - be out raising funds to buy legislators instead of blogging?
Posted by: | November 27, 2007 at 10:56 AM
The man is a disgrace.
Posted by: | November 27, 2007 at 11:01 AM
Does this dude ever do any real work? Cristi, shape up!
Posted by: | November 27, 2007 at 11:03 AM
Governor Crist is leading our state based on a core of common sense conservative beliefs. Thank goodness we finally have a governor who is willing to roll up his sleeves and do what is right for the people of Florida and not just push some fantasy land ideological war.
Thank you for your leadership, Governor.

11:15: Don't Governor's Office staff have anything better to do than fool around on blogs?
Posted by: | November 27, 2007 at 11:20 AM
11:15 - just stop it - just quit quoting press releases - try to have an original thought at least once. "roll up his sleeves" - who talks like that
Posted by: | November 27, 2007 at 11:23 AM
"core of common sense conservative beliefs"
you post this on a blog where he is ultimately advocating for a nationalized, government backed, industry paid for by public dollars.
If that's what passes for a "core of common sense conservative beliefs" these days, I'd hate to see what the liberals are up to.

Charlie Crist = one term.

I have news for you guys...it was JEB who initiated the move for a National Catastrophe fund to lessen the impact on FL property owners. Charlie is not the architect of this program.

I am so fed up with this man in his $1000 suits who denied state employees even a 1% raise this year. How can we feed our families on such pitiful financial governing. I'm sure he got a huge raise.

Why is this liberal, so-called governor being allowed to ask anything at a Republican debate?
Go back to Sundance, Charlie (D)!
Posted by: | November 27, 2007 at 12:38 PM
Sounds like some of you are having a bad day. Charlie may not be toeing your ideological line, but he's onbviously doing something right because most people stil love him. The rest of you are just way behind the times.

I'd love to see the IP addresses of some of these posts so we would tell how many of these posts are from the same person.

We'd all like to have our insurance risks redistributed to make our prices less - me too. That will work too. The problem is that the people in the other states whose costs would go up are not exactly thrilled with that idea. Charlie can keep asking, and should - but given the underlying facts this approach is probably not going to get anything done. Plan B Charlie?

Please spare me. The You Tube debate format is designed for the Hoi Polloi to converse with the candidates. Is Charlie now saying that he can’t get any of his calls returned from these Presidential candidates to get this question answered? I think not. As usual, this is a cold and calculated political stunt designed to get on National Television.

it's obvious that 11:15, 11;58 and 12:41 are all someone in the gov's office...quit wasting the taxpayers' dollars while you read the Times Blog all day

Dear UF Student:
Good Point. Please call JoAnne Carrin (Governor's office director of Open Government) at the Governor's office: (850) 921-6099; or email her at: joann.carrin@myflorida.com . Then, make a public records request for all posts made on Government Computers to The St. Petersburg Times "Buzz" website. What will you find: all the postitve posts on this site/blog come directly from the Governor's office. Good luck.

I don’t care what you staffers do during the day… but one of you at least take some time to buy Chuck a new tie! For God’s sake, he looks like a clown… oh, never mind, I get it… when in Rome…

the citizens of Florida want it so the insurance lobbyist fight it. Insurance, the most low life industry in the country. Pigs!
Posted by: | November 27, 2007 at 09:48 PM
So CNN axed Crist's video. Good for them. They recognized it for what it was--a big PR event.

Amen and here here, 10:18!

The insurance industry HATES Charlie; the citizens of Florida LOVE Charlie! Keep fighting the "worst industry IN THE WORLD"!!!!

Charlie wants insurance risk spread...the rest of the nation wants the oil and natural gas underneath the Gulf of Mexico...any room for compromise Chuck?
