Kise leaves Crist office, moves to energy post

Kise Gov. Charlie Crist today announced Christopher Kise is leaving the office but will serve as "Special Advisor on Energy and Climate Change." Kise most recently served as counselor to the Governor.

"Chris has been a driving force in our administration, and I am pleased he will continue to serve in this new capacity,” said Crist said in a statement. “Chris’ stewardship on some of the most important issues to the people of our state – auto and property insurance, energy and global climate change – will have great impact on our state for years to come."

Kise served more than three years under then Attorney General Crist as Florida’s solicitor general, the state’s top litigator. Kise is a graduate of the University of Miami and Florida State University College of Law. During the election, Kise helped Crist with debate preparation by playing opponent Jim Davis.

This guy was a steward of the auto and property insurance issues and he's being promoted?

I like Kise a lot, but it's clear this Governor does not understand the market implications of environmental policy. Kise wrote an editorial in January about insurance trying to show that the legislation was a strong, market approach to the crisis - Kise is a top notch lawyer and advisor, but who is advising this administration on economics?!

And watch them head for the exits. First to leave is Kise, but following closely will be Lemieux, leaving Arlene to run the place.

The Times better invest in new servers and added bandwidth to handle all the blog action once Arlene is in charge.

I guess it's pretty beneficial to be a butt-plug in Chuck's crony administration!

I don't think Arlene will be left in charge after this latest fiasco... don't be surprised if she is taken out

Please stop talking about Arlene and everyone else. Grow up a little, do your job, attempt to be mature, try to show even the slightest amount of character and quite possibly you can be successful in your chosen career.

I agree 12:16. I am tired of these ridiculous posts about Arlene and the gang. We get it! They're terrible. Now let's move on.

Arlene is one of the worst people in the World. There is no question about it.

Please, would somebody tell us how much Meredith is paid by the RPOF for " Fund Raising" Does she get bonuses for gossiping and talking behind the Governor and Chairman's back.

What do you do 2:07? Are you angling for a job? It's a private sector position and every Governor has someone to fundraise for them, so get over it you aren't getting the job. Quit pimping for Greer, he can piss and moan all he wants, has he figured out yet that he does not rank behind the Lt. Governor?

2:07 is most definitely either Arlene or Eddie.

2:07 is most definitely either Arlene or Eddie.

Chris is a bright and talented guy, he will do well when back in the private sector.

Thanks Chris great post.

the whispers about arlene are becoming groans. she's crossed the line this time, not the eddie thing, but the slip about the guv. she's going to be a cooked goose for thanksgiving.

You're going to be a fat pig for Thanksgiving...but you are ugly as sin so it won't matter.

3:31 - Arlene, I think you meant cerdo gordo.

what slip? spill...

Chris Kise has been a tremendous asset to the Governor's office...he has an incredibly bright future.

Kise is a great asset - he worked hard and was a great broker among a lot of big groups on tough issues - he deserves our deepest appreciation.

plus, he's down-deep a very good person - best of luck LL ...

arlene arlene, what has thou wrought now? didn't they tell you about how things in tally boomerang? INCOMING!!!!!!!!!

Arlene isn't here. GO AWAY!!!

4:43 go smoke your pole

So Kise is part to blame for property tax mess & homeowner's insurance.

Shouldn't he be fired?

All of you who work in the EOG should be fired for fueling this fire.

It is truely a disgrace.

If I were George, I would fire the lot of you.

You are damn lucky.

Kise will be missed. He is a great asset to the administration. Good Luck Chris!

I don't work in the eog, but I still think arlene is terrible.

I don't work in the eog either, but i think arlene and company are doing a great job.

i agree with 10:52!

the unemployed gallagher staffers have learned the alphabet and learned to type.

tommy g rules!!!!!!!

Arlene rocks!

chris kise did a good job!

george and arlene will continue to fight for the people's priorities!

yepp, Arlene always defends the Governor!

the critics are washing gallagher's dented gold mercedes for free.

GO CHARLIE!!

BRETT NEEDS TO GET A LIFE

“Chris’ stewardship on some of the most important issues to the people of our state – auto and property insurance, energy and global climate change – will have great impact on our state for years to come."

...

"State Farm Florida agents, customers and even state regulators are surprised to hear the insurer is canceling more home policies than previously announced. Florida's largest private property insurer has said it will drop 74,000 policies in the coming year as it pulls away from the state's coast - 50 percent more than what regulators said they would allow."

Meanwhile...four new companies have come to Florida and taken over 170,000 policies from Citizens...reducing Citizens to pre-2007 numbers...the reforms are starting to work...competition from the bottom up while the large, greedy big boys continue to bail on the state with their pockets stuffed.

I think I have only seen Chris in a bow tie. Where did you get that picture?

851 am- wonderful observation, truly. Chris went from a regular neck tie to a bow tie as a regular tradition, you're right. tighter neck. affects the blood flow. are you with me? ;) ...

never met a guy so up on himself to the point he didn't have time to listen to anyone else.

A couple of comments about Chris.

1-Only really smart people, or really pompous people wear bowties. He calls himself "Counsellor". Enough said.

2-Not that it really matters in today's environment of Republican politics, but Kise looks, talks, acts, walks Log Cabin Republican.

3-Not since Doug Cook (Chiles Administration) has one human being had so much of a negative impact on actual public policy, and snowed the Governor. Whether its insurance, energy, or whatever, Kise's footprints are going to take at least 6 months to undo.

4-Has there been anyone in the history of Florida government so presumptuous and arrogant to actually call the FAA and demand that the Tallahassee Airport flight pattern be moved because it went over his home and the jets bothered him?

5-Kise has about one quarter the intellect, savvy and instincts of George L.
