Rubio hits the airwaves -- and the highway
Getting in touch with Marco Rubio is tough these days, but the House Speaker popped up on 100.7 WFLA this morning to discuss his legal challenge to Gov. Charlie Crist's gambling compact. Listen to the interview here.
"This deal was done in secret," Rubio said, while applauding Crist for tackling the issue that has lingered for years.
At one point, Rubio, talking on his cell phone, heads through a toll both and is startled to discover it's free, thanks to Maxwell House. He jokes about it perhaps being a violation of the gift ban.

"This deal was done in secret," Rubio said, while applauding Crist for tackling the issue that has lingered for years."
Translation: “It’s terrible what Hannibal Lector did to those people… but I do like his selection of wine!”

kind of like the property tax deal that was done in secret, eh Marco?
a**hole

Yes, my thoughts exactly, fellow posters -- Rubio moaning about "secret deals."
Pleeeeeeze.

Marcio's hypocrisy knows no bounds.

Soon-to-be "Former Speaker" and present-day "Nobody"....and NO I am not a "Staffer", NO I am not "scared of Rubio"...you don't conduct Billion Dollar contract negotiations for public viewing..of course, if he actually practiced law (or did something for a living besides collect a potentially illegal gift of $300,000+ a year to do NOTHING) he might know this.

Rubio will follow Johnnie Byrd into well-deserved obscurity; in five years, it'll be "Marco WHO"?

Marco pushed this stuff one time too many. I want tax relief but this guy is changing his support with the wind! Does he just want to discredit the Governor so much that he does not realize how goofy he looks to us?
I thought he was for the amendment on the ballot in January. This thing he is going around the state promoting does not even take effect until the beginning of 2010- I'll be dead by then!

What DOES he do for a living?
Posted by: | November 21, 2007 at 05:56 PM
Rubio beats Cristyqueer any day of the week!!!

Marco A. Rubio is Of Counsel in the Miami office of Broad and Cassel. He is a member of the Firm's Real Estate and Land Use Practice Groups.
(from the Broad and Cassel website)
But before he was in the House, he was a city counsel member.

Bwwwaaaaahaaaa haaaa haaa haaaaaa haa
Has Rubio ever practiced a day of law in his life? The Speaker is a certified lunatic!!!
Marco Rubio... the king of the secret deals. Such a hypocrit!

It appears that the Speaker neglects to read the newspapers. Had he done so, he would have discovered that the news media, by means of a public record request, obtained a draft of the proposed compact and wrote a number of newspaper articles describing its terms well before the compact was formally signed.
Oh, yes, I forgot. Wasn't Rubio quoted in these same articles as opposing the compact and threatening to go to court if legislative approval was not obtained? But, wait. That would mean that the compact wasn't kept secret from the Speaker and that he is once again talking out of both sides of his mouth.
Say it ain't so Marco...

Marco is funny. He thinks that he can muster up the popularity and votes that Charlie did by driving around Florida and making outlandish comments.
Marco, say what you will about Crist but remember that he can outflank the best of them.

Zenator:
it appears the King's men are working overtime this holiday weekend.
I once worked for a great man who said "no press is bad press because when they stop talking about you you're irrelevant".
The continued fixation on Marco within the CC camp is evidence enough that he's someone to be concerned about.
That said: advantage Marco.

Termie:
You mistake my comments regarding Marco as a defense of Crist. They are not.
I have lost respect for Marco, a man I once regarded as talented, but green. Now, I regard him as an empty suit, whose talent seems limited to being consistently, inconsistent.
I am not the only one. After Marco broke his word on the tax deal, Ken Pruitt demonstrated his disdain for Marco by going out of his way to humiliate him in public.

George on his last day speaking to the staff, Well it's been fun, well let's say interesting. Arlene please treat people better, the world's not out to get you, Meredith stop using the Governors name all the time to get what you want and stop being a Drama queen, Governor sir , please stop talking about Wexler all the time, remember we might just need the Republican party someday again. Greer get some balls and tell the Governor to start acting like a Republican before the Party turns completely on him and you, oh and by the way, eveyone DON'T CALL ME , I'll CALL YOU.

Termie:
You couldn't be more wrong. Marco has consistently put himself at a tremendous disadvantage by contradicting himself and not being honest. The truth always surfaces and he is already being called on his deceitful manuvering and hypocracy.
Posted by: | November 21, 2007 at 11:11 PM
Yeah, Rubio is relevant, like Ron Paul doing anything to get his name mentioned. A few last acts of desperation before he "Hits the Highway."
Posted by: | November 22, 2007 at 09:39 AM
He we go again. Rubio tries for the 3rd time to REPEAL SAVE OUR HOMES! Good luck with that....
Posted by: | November 22, 2007 at 12:09 PM
This is amazing, if this was Charlie's idea people would be blogging GREAT WORK CC!!! WE LOVE!!! Because it is Marco, you have trash it.
Honestly who cares. He tried the legislative route and it did not work. So like any smart politician he's petitioning "the people." Nobody is putting a gun to anyone to sign the petition.
Problem with Tally folks, you think the epicenter of the earth lies in that small town.

What is wrong with Marco Rubio offering an alternative to the weak ballot proposal? The people win when they have more choices. Rubio is Right
Posted by: | November 23, 2007 at 11:50 AM
He is not offering anything...he is trying to take over someone else's idea.
Posted by: | November 23, 2007 at 12:17 PM
Got 25 more petitions signed today.
Posted by: | November 23, 2007 at 01:28 PM
12:17 but he is pushing the idea. And I agree: what is wring with pushing an idea that FURTHER relieves the tax payer of the enormous tax burden?
Good for Rubio!
Posted by: | November 23, 2007 at 01:49 PM
I sent it to 25 close friends and relatives. I asked that they do the same after signing the petition.
If we grassroots this thing like those that have blogged here, it will go a long way to reaching the goal quickly.
And I don't care who is pushing the idea and my guess is if it starts showing a quick return on signed petitions, Charlie may even jump on board.

So what? Cristyqueer does this all the time. The guy hasn't had an original thought in over five decades!!!

Rubio couldnt run for dog catcher in Miami.
Posted by: | November 23, 2007 at 09:05 PM
