Straw poll politics

As goes Vinoy Park so goes the nation? More than 1,200 people have plunked down $20 to attend the "Have your say in Tampa Bay" straw poll and debate watch rally Wednesday in St. Petersburg. Organized by area GOP officials, the event will feature barbecue, a giant screen to watch the debate, and a chance for Tampa Bay Republicans to cast a vote that, while officially meaningless, could help signal the leanings of Republicans in Florida’s biggest battleground region.

"No presidential campaign has gone and bought a block of tickets yet, but a couple of them are talking about it,’’ said Neil Brickfield, an organizer who said each of the presidential hopefuls also has been invited to address the crowd and buy a $150 booth.

They will be comp'd, and won't have to pay. I know the system. Again, I care what Brickfield and his idiocy and his sycophants say because...?

I have been a recent member of both major parties recently. Both parties
have their "kool aid" drinkers. Who cares about the parties?

11:42 Actually, it is the Democrats who consider you a nobody if you actually pay your way at a function.

I'm glad that we have the freedoms we have and see the U.S. citizen exercising those freedoms. That's one of the neat things about this country!

SCG - Because you remind Ali G. of his younger days when he was an optimist, you're officially allowed to post to the Buzz. In Buzz-land, you will encounter a veneer of cynicism masking a need to heal our PTSD resulting from dealings with elected officials for many years.
