The Jim Davis-John Edwards connection

Tb_edwards_450x300_2 Edwards has stumped in Iowa more than any other candidate, deploying a political team with loads of experience in the state he's avoided - Florida. Several who worked on Jim Davis' unsuccessful campaign last year for Florida governor are now in Iowa, including pollster Harrison Hickman and regional field director Pam Danielson. His Iowa field director is Jennifer O'Malley, who was Davis' campaign manager.

O'Malley helped run Edwards' operation here in 2004 when he came out of nowhere to place second in the caucus, making him an unexpected contender for the nomination. "She's relentless and she knows Iowa," Davis said. "She's terrific at organizing volunteers and building grass roots. In a state like Iowa, that's important. Florida is more of a TV state where field operations don't matter as much."

Hopefully for Edwards, she knows Iowa a lot better than she knew Florida.

Rule One for future statewide candidates: Florida is not Iowa, Arkansas, New Jersey, Delaware or any of the other states where candidates go to find managers.

I think part of the problem for Davis was Jennifer and her complete inability to manage a campaign! I can't believe Edwards actually brought her onto his campaign to begin with but to find out that he's put her in a critical area like Iowa...that's disapointing to hear!

That's an amazing comment from Jim Davis -- "she's amazing at organizing volunteers and building grass roots."
The Davis campaign was completely unable to organize volunteers and instead of going around the state and "building" relationships people throughout the State were dictated orders from Tampa. Forget about what works in Iowa or Florida -- does that work in ANY State?

Man, if Edwards is counting on Jen O'Malley's ability to build relationships I think it's time to realize he has no chance of winning. From what I heard - nevermind key political leaders and major fundraisers - even people who were paid staff on the campaign never even got to speak with her never mind meet her.

When Jim Davis was contacted about Terri Schiavo. Mr. Davis contacted me back and thanked me for bringing it too his attention of the wild horses being killed. Attorney Nancy Rutland who is a joke is behind Davis. There is a saying show me your company and I will tell you what you are. Terri Pac is in trouble and so is Davis. If you wan't to get rid of a family member call Jim Davis. You can read all about at www.northcountrygazette.org
