A Crist-McCain deal?
The Buzz is that Charlie Crist has promised John McCain he won't make a presidential endorsement until after New Hampshire's Jan. 8 primary, though Crist wouldn't confirm such a deal with McCain: "It was a private conversation,'' he told Steve Bousquet.
But a strong showing in New Hampshire would resurrect McCain's candidacy heading into Michigan and South Carolina, and Crist's endorsement could be a giant boost for the Arizona senator in Florida Jan. 29.
Here's how McCain campaign manager Rick Davis assessed Florida in an e-mail to supporters: "A state Rudy Giuliani has bet his whole campaign on, Florida will be so driven by momentum from previous victories that no amount of early money or organization will make a difference. John McCain is right on the issues in Florida and has the unique ability to bridge political divides in this historically divided state."

I like Rudy but I could vote for John. I like him.

Lets get off the MSM's love fest with McCain and Huckabee. There is a reason they are pushing them folks and attempting to stall Rudy and Mitt.

Mccain is going to win.
Posted by: | December 27, 2007 at 03:46 PM
My money is on McCain and Hillary.

Even though Hick is going to win Iowa, his momentum will end there. He can't win NH. McCain will win NH and then SC and then Florida.

Tp paraphrase South Park, Crist was "smart, smart, smart" to remain on the sidelines. The value of his endorsement increases each day as Florida grows ever the more crucial as a "must win" primary state.
Rumor has it that Rudy and Mitt have both made "name your price" offers to Crist to secure his endorsement. But, Cristput both of them off.
Don't forgot it was McCain, not either of them, that campaigned for Crist in 2006. I don't know about any deals between Crist and McCain. But, it makes sense for a host of reasons for Crist to wait until after the N.H. primary to endorse any candidate.

Actually Zenator...this is the first time I can recall that you are only slightly off...Rudy campaigned with Crist for two day and Romeny dropped off a check for $1 million...and yes McCain campaigned with him for two days as well...they all want him as a running mate...and as you correctly point out the longer Crist waits the better his bargaining position...
Posted by: | December 27, 2007 at 06:10 PM
Man you Reps are divided...sounds like your party won't clean up its act for 2008 either.
By the way, Zenator, quoting "South Park"...are you 12?
Posted by: | December 27, 2007 at 06:27 PM
McCain has not abndoned his McCain-Feingold folly. He claims now to love tax cuts. But that is hard to believe. He is an old fashioned balance-the-budget Republican, even if that means tax increases.
Posted by: | December 27, 2007 at 06:29 PM
While McCain is not a perfect candidate...neither is Rudy...or Huckabee...or Romney....or Thompson..however, they all have one thing in common..they would all be superior as President to any of the Democrats running for the position. That is why R's must remain focused on the prize in November and not fall in to the trap of trashing each other and leaving the nominee damaged for the General Election....

Sorry. You are, of course correct. I should have stated that only McCain endorsed Crist during the primary.
Posted by: zenator | December 27, 2007 at 06:59 PM
6:55 you're a regular Tony Robbins...except your message is flawed BS. The Dems will win it in 08, count on it.

No, I am not 12, but I am a big fan of South Park.
The "smart, smart, smart" quote is derived from the South Park episode that relates the origins of Mormon Church. I thought I was being clever with that Mitt reference until 6:10 pointed out that I had failed to get the facts straight in the remainder of my post.

Nancy Watkins set up a secret 527 that has been sending money to the McCain campaign. As most of you should know, she had been the treasurer to alot of Crist's campaigns since she is a ranger. And it was about the time that Jeb had Crist submit his voucher program for Liberty City bill...
Nancy Watkins is in Tampa was an accountant husband. It is not hard to think Crist is McCain. I sent the email with evidence to Bousquet over a month ago...

If Charlie is the VP for GOP, I may just vote Democrat. At least with them, you know what you are getting. Having CC one heartbeat away from the Presidency (with a very senior McCain) scares the living daylights out of me!
Posted by: Eeek! | December 27, 2007 at 07:56 PM
Peggy, you dumbass. 527s are not secret. Crist and Watkins split years ago. And the ranger comment makes no sense. What is the connection between being a ranger and being former Crist accountant?
Watkins openly supports Romney and doesn't pasrticularly like McCain.
Put your tinfoil hat back on. The aliens are reading your brainwaves.

I was a Huckabee voter until the Bhutto assassination. Now I am with McCain he is the only one I trust with foreign affairs.
Posted by: | December 27, 2007 at 07:58 PM
You're a retard if you changed your vote because of the Bhutto assassination!!!!!!!
But you probably chose your candidate based upon your pure stupidity anyway.
Peggy you need to go back to the mother ship.
All the rest of you Bozo's smoke pole if you think John McCain would ever pick Charlie Crist to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency.
I don't know how you stupid SOB's make it through the day.

Governor Crist has shown yet again why he is the most couragous and principled leader in the history of the great state of Florida! He's going to wait and see if McCain wins in new hampshire before he decides on endorsing anyone. Because he believes so much that McCain is the best man for the job. Therefore Charlie will endorse him if it looks like McCain will win the nomination. What a great and couragous leader. Governor Crist is leader of men. He is a heroic giant in a time of dwarfs.

Zenator...you do not need to be defensive or explain yourself...you are hands down the most consistent, thoughtful and intelligent person posting on this blog...you are also the anti-terminator which earns you extra points in my book!

Thanks Erin.

I like John. Charlie Bad. Charlie is not even a good Democrat as he tries to be.
Posted by: me here | December 27, 2007 at 09:33 PM
I'm supporting either Hucklebee or McCain.
Hopefully we'll get a Hucklebee/McCain ticket for 2008

6:10 PM
I doubt that any will choose Charlie as a running mate.
Posted by: | December 27, 2007 at 11:10 PM
if I was McCain, I would not want Charlie's endorsement. Whatever Charlie wants, I sure don't. The man is just a pretty politician without any depth
Posted by: jackie | December 27, 2007 at 11:40 PM
Didn't Charlie work for McCain at one point, and they are suppossed to be so close? And McCain did campaign with Charlie. In view of that, Charlie should be ashamed of himself waiting until the last possible minute to see which way to jump. He should have endorsed McCain long ago.
Posted by: | December 28, 2007 at 01:58 AM
Yeah, that's real big of Charlie: waiting until the last minute to see which way the wind is blowing before he "endorses" someone.
Posted by: | December 28, 2007 at 06:59 AM
Yes, waiting until the last second to choose who to support doesn't make Charlie a leader, it makes him a follower.
That is all he has been since day one.
Posted by: | December 28, 2007 at 12:15 PM
Who wants his endorsement?
Charlie may be a liability in FL:
Lower Property Taxes: Failed
Drop Property Taxes like a rock: Failed
No to Expanded Gaming: Failed

John, back it up with facts. Just saying it's so don't make it so. By law, millage rates are being rolled back. My taxes are lower and will drop further still. They will be even lower if Amendment 1 passes. I don't remember Indian Casinos being a major campaign issue. Perhaps it was to you, Kimosobe.
