Clerk responds to Brown-Waite

Lorraine Miller, the House clerk who runs the congressional page program, has issued her second statement since the resignation of Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite. The first one didn't address Brown-Waite's complaints. But this one does - kinda.

Here's an excerpt:

"On one occasion this year, Rep. Brown-Waite was not informed immediately of a page's dismissal -- the incident occurred over a weekend and she was informed on the next business day.  After that incident, Board members asked that they all be informed immediately of any such disciplinary action, and the Clerk provided that notice in the most recent case.

"In addition to immediate notification in the event of rules infractions, Page board members receive regular, comprehensive updates at scheduled board meetings, as well as frequent e-mails and update memos. Our unprecedented seven page board meetings have been extremely constructive and informative and we have received substantive input from attending members."

"That input has helped to further shape the program and has contributed to our expanded oversight and greater accountability. I regret that Rep. Brown-Waite does not feel that these forums offered the opportunity to present her concerns and the insight that she has received from her discussions with parents and pages.

"Finally, we look forward to working closely with the Page Board as we engage in an 'immediate and thorough review of the adequacy of the supervision and security at the Page dorm,' as outlined by Speaker Nancy Pelosi."

"... supervision and security at the Page dorm..."

Holy Cow; where can I apply for that job?

methinks GWB was only hoping to score herself something youngish and was rebuked.

consequently, she takes out her embarassment on the program!!

so like an R...blame someone else for your faliures.

maybe she was out drinking with the chimp and couldnt focus her eyes enuff to read the memos?

Typical Brown Waite

GBW said she wouldn't even want her 16 year old grandson to participate in the page program.

Maybe in a few months when he turns 17 she can take him down to the local Army recruiter and get her grandson a trip to Iraq instead of going to DC as a page.

It seems with GBW, when the going gets tough, instead of sticking around to "Git-R-Done" like her hero Larry the Cable Guy and solve the problem, Ginny just quits and points her finger at everyone else blaming them.

I really think GBW quit the page board last week so she could get home early to watch the Larry the Cable Guy Christmas Special on TV December 5th.
