Of course, it was a sweet-heart deal. Like all of his other board appointments have been.
His privatization contracts have cost and are costing over a billion dollars. His shutting down state owned buildings to relocate agencies in run down buildings owned by his friends continues to cost the state tons of money (i.e. - Northwoods Center). Now the state pays gads of money for substandard offices (mold growing on walls, constant sewer leaks) and the state pays for all the substandard renovations of these privately owned buildings and while state buildings stand empty and are being given away.

You don't mean to tell me that the fourth generation son of an old Eastern Establishment family--one great grandfather was J.P. Morgan's Partner and another partner to Rockefeller, grandpa was Avril Harriman's partner and daddy went to the Texas oil patch to colonize it for New York bankers, and Jeb's presidential brother made his fortune by convincing Texas taxpayers to build a stadium for a consortium of the super rich....you don't mean with all this family history that Holy Man Jeb would lower himself to leverage political pull for income?
Why, you might as well say that the primary purpose of government is to shift wealth from the many to the few.
Why, you might as well say that, in a time when financial services are 20% of our economy and industry only 11%, the ruling class (now over a 100 years old) regards the national treasury as just another exploitable natural resource to be mined like any other.
How cynical must you be? Open your eyes. Can't you see he's a man of God.

Betty, you need to get your facts straight. State buildings and leased space are occupied by at a rate above 97%. This is unheard of in the private sector. Why is this the case? Because Jeb had the foresight to hire a company that has experience in this area. On top of that, the initiative supported by Jeb also had the state occupying better space than they previously had rented, by requiring any leased space to meet high industry standards. As for the state paying for renovations to leased space, you cannot be farther from the truth. During Jeb's administration and with the help of the hired representative, leases entered into by the state called for the landlord to provide money for renovations - out of the landlords pockets, but directed by the state.
So before you go spewing the typical lard brick rhetoric, get your facts straight.
And for concerns over the tax incentives... creating upward of 26 million in salaries seems to be a good investment of state funds - its called economic development and happened elsewhere in the state - can you say Scripps, etc. etc.?

I don't care about the appointment.
What I care about is the fact that he ran the state into the ground - windstorm premiums and local taxes.
They were all on his extended watch.
For those clowns who say, "Duh, well it started before he was governor", I say hogwash.
He was in for two terms and he had ample time to correct these problems.
I don't care if he makes a ton of money. I do care if he runs for public office again.

I don't recall an uprising of citizens complaining about property insurance and windstorm while Jeb was in office. It was a 2006 campaign strategy... and everyone fell for it.
Yes, we were all impacted by it, we all felt it, but we moved on... it wasn't until Crist made it a priority that we saw the outcry for help.
And what has been accomplished to date? Yes, Charlie (or at least the legislature gave Charlie) his half-hearted promise of double the homestead and portability... but there were other proposals that would have given the average citizen more... and those were shot down.
No, I am not from the insurance industry, but I am smart enough to have not bought a house on the beach, and to have one I can afford. In the time it will take to pay for my home, at current rates and valuation, I will pay about 10% of the cost of my home in insurance premiums... which is a heck of a lot less comparable to say my car insurance or boat insurance or motorcycle insurance, all of which are depreciating in value, carried out for the same term...

832 Wow, you live in your own little world. Better vote for Ron Paul.
Posted by: | December 05, 2007 at 08:43 AM
Who says crime doesn’t pay? Nice pay back Jeb!
Posted by: | December 05, 2007 at 08:59 AM
Okay 8:43 - examples of the public outcry while Jeb was in office???
Posted by: | December 05, 2007 at 09:33 AM
Both political parties engage in this type of behaviour - Republicans have just made a way of life out of it, that's all. Vote DEM - while you still can.
Posted by: | December 05, 2007 at 09:53 AM
Jeb, do they need any water pumps?
Posted by: | December 05, 2007 at 10:23 AM
Lets not forget the CSX deal.

How much did the state and Palm Beach County give to Scripps in subsidies (close to 900 million).
Wonder if all those "high tech" jobs promised will ever materialize. How much per job is that?
8:32
Crist is a blooming idiot who's one good hurricane away from oblivion.
The state's on the hook for up to $28 billion in the event of a catastrophic storm thanks to Charlie's "solutions".
The guy can't even spell insurance let alone formulate policy.

8:16 am - how about the Warren Building, the Johns Building, the Bloxham building? Empty, empty, empty, while hundreds of state employees were moved to substandard, mold infested, rat infested, sewer leaking buildings owned by Jeb's friends.
Posted by: | December 05, 2007 at 11:24 AM
11:24 -
Johns building transferred to the City, Bloxham has FWC and storage right now but talking about giving/selling back to the school district (since it previously was a school and the Warren Building - not sure about that one... maybe on the chopping block as well.
So do a little research before you spew...
Posted by: | December 05, 2007 at 01:36 PM
and please provide the facility names of the substandard workplaces you reference... otherwise shut up...
Posted by: | December 05, 2007 at 01:37 PM
Hey, he's following in the foot steps of his great grandaddy Prescott Bush. He was VP of Union banking Corp. of NYC, and funded Adolf Hitler and his rise to power. Good job, Jeb!
Posted by: harry | December 05, 2007 at 04:37 PM
Just the beginning. I get ill when some speak of Jeb's great legacy. I wish all the other sweetheart deals that took tax dollars from hard working people get flushed out.
Posted by: | December 05, 2007 at 09:37 PM
I get ill when people make up stuff about Jeb to justify their disdain for the Bush family.
And for the Scripps issue, you can blame the democrats in control of Palm Beach County and the tree huggers that are just delaying the inevitable.

11:24 - Check the facts yourself! These State buildings - good enough to GIVE away while the STATE pays EXHOBANENT rent to house employees in rat infested, mold infested, substandard buildings owned by Friends of Jeb.
Posted by: | December 06, 2007 at 06:37 AM
Actually the John's building was sold at appraised value... and the state does not pay EXORBITANT rent... it actually pay less than the average based on geographic area...
Posted by: | December 06, 2007 at 08:33 AM
And still waiting for the list of rat infested, mold infested, substandard buildings... and the names of their owners, and the link to Jeb.
Until then, you still continue to show your ignorance.

11:53 Get your head out of your a--. The giveaways are real and Jeb was responsible. Go and check out the articles in the Tampa Trib and other papers. Total giveaways of our tax dollars. Thanks Jeb. CSX, Staubach, CNL. Just great.
Posted by: | December 06, 2007 at 08:53 PM
8:53 - address my question instead of empty words... what are the facilities in sub-par condition... how are the owners of those, or any other facilities related or connected to Jeb.
Otherwise, stop spewing your cr@p and shut up!
