McCollum and the global warming 'swindle'
Attorney General Bill McCollum isn't buying Gov. Charlie Crist's belief that global warming is a threat to Florida and the world. Shortly before Christmas, McCollum sent a memo to Crist and the other Cabinet members, advising them that "the science is not all in" on the subject and urging them to view the enclosed DVD, a British television documentary called The Great Global Warming Swindle. (It costs $19.99, and this is not exactly "It's a Wonderful Life.") Check out the web site here.
The makers of the program include Martin Durkin, who's no stranger to controversy across the pond. The Guardian newspaper in London reported in 1997 that Durkin considered himself a Marxist. At the time, he helped produce an anti-environmental broadcast on Britain's Channel 4 called Against Nature. Crist, by the way, says he'll keep seeking alternative energy sources to combat global warming in 2008, with or without McCollum's support. McCollum was campaigning Thursday with former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

Amen! Finally a conservative with some ba**s!! God bless you General!

Congratulations to the bravery of Bill McCollum. In case you hadn't heard:
There are now thousands of leading scientists who disagree that any global warming taking place is caused by man and his activities. The US Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works released a report listing hundreds of scientists (some Nobel winning scientists) who reject the Chicken Littles of global warming.
Posted by: | December 27, 2007 at 03:35 PM
3:35 it's not a matter of whethr global warming is taking place as a result of man's activities...it's a question of whether it is taking place at all. 90% of all reputable scientist believe IT IS....and by the way..what does this have to do with the AG's office?
Posted by: | December 27, 2007 at 03:50 PM
absolutely!!
right on!!
lets disregard the following:
spring is coming earlier
fall is coming later
glaciers are melting at an unrecedented rate
plans and animal are adjusting their habitats to compensate for the warming that isnt happening
arctic ice pack is shrinking
just to name a few irrelvancies
absolutely!!
lets remember buckie mccollum also believed rmnixon was a fine guy and rwraygun was a genius
folks, science isnt a popularity poll, it is FACTS
regardless of the dissenters wishes otherwise.
remember, galilleo wasnt popular either, but he was right!
people thought the wright broters were fools.
experts beleived "man" wasnt designed to travel faster than aobut 30 miles an hour!
surveys said.................
and now, a doof with teeth more bucked tha alvin says it aint so
sure thing!!!!

There is a difference between arguing that there is global warming and that it is man-made. It would be preposterous for us to think if we were in a period of global cooling that we mere humans could warm it. Throughout world history, the earth has gone through periods of both super-cooling and heating...Long before fossil fuels were being used.
Global warming is a product of the left to take from the rich (the U.S.) and give to the "poor" (everyone else).

Attention Bill McCollum
There is a reunion filming of the old TV series "My Three Sons" and they want you to reprise your role of "Chip".
Posted by: | December 27, 2007 at 05:21 PM
a difference?
tell that to the folks who are swamped by rising sea levels, whose crops fail because its too hot, because warming has changed precipitation patterns, etc., etc.
I DONT THINK IT WILL MATTER TO THEM!
are you foolish enuff to think it will?
a failed crop is a failed crop.
floods are floods.
droughts are droughts
besides, the issue ISNT 'man-made' as you seem to "think".
it is the fact that there appears to be strong evidence of warming.
can we do anything to alleviate its effects?
that is the issue!!
btw, the chimp seems to "think" there is warming, too.
didja know that?

If Florida adopts every recommendation that was called for at Governor Crist's summit in July, or in the Environmental Defense report that got rolled out a couple of weeks ago, or by CFO Sink, will it stop (or even slow) climate change? So far, no scientist has said that it would make a difference in the environment, just that Florida has to lead.
But if we do all of those things, how much will it cost the utility customers of this state who are already screaming about property insurance and property taxes, and will we still have a reliable power supply in 10 years (when everyone currently in office and making policy will be termed out and not having to deal with the consequences of rolling brownouts)?
Less greenhouse gasses from Florida is a noble goal, but let's be thoughtful about who pays and what that cost will actually accomplish.

There used to be a "consensus among the scienfitic community" that the world was flat too.
Glad we didnt believe the nutty scientists then either! How silly.
Posted by: | December 27, 2007 at 05:59 PM
The same people who scream about global warming today are the ones who screamed about global cooling in the 1970s and lobbied to apply black paint to the antarctic to absorb the suns rays.
The true goal of the global warming movement is to raise taxes and expand government control over every aspect of peoples' lives.

sorry, 5.59, but nothing resembling the "scientific method" was around in the 15th century (the period i suppose you are referring to).
although others than europeans had a good idea the earth was a sphere.
just legends, superstitons and gross ignorance, even tho some greek mathematician, sometime before christ, demonstrated that it was round, that didnt jibe with the contemporary worldview.
nice try, though!!

Why are you all paying attention to what Bill says about science. He is a career politician. All he knows about is the amount of his pension and the day he starts receving it. Please don't ever give a bit of thought to any politician on any issue except the amount of his/her pension.

"Please don't ever give a bit of thought to any politician on any issue except the amount of his/her pension."
Does that include Al Gore too?
Posted by: Zhombre | December 27, 2007 at 07:04 PM
Bill McCollum Rocks!
The AG is correct and is very polite about it too.
Posted by: | December 27, 2007 at 09:06 PM
McCollum is buying the same snake oil Galagher bought, and from the same salesmen. Look for him to continually try to be the 'conservative voice' on the cabinet to set himself up for whatever delusional goal he's got for his next office. Read a little recent history Bill, or go find Gallagher and let him tell you how it turns out.

It doesn't change the fact that humans causing global warming is a hoax. I can't wait to use these global warming strategies during the next ice age!
Posted by: | December 27, 2007 at 09:42 PM
Over 400 scientists, many of whom were on the original UN panel on global warming, and had their views on the topic ignored by the UN committee have come out and said that of man’s contribution to global warming is still an open question.

Finally, someone in a position of leadership has the cojones to talk about the emperor's new clothes. This Church of Global Warmism and its high priest, The Goracle, should move to Jonestown, Guyana and drink their coolade in private. This whole thing is a hoax and a cover for global socialism.
Not one word has been said about reducing pollution, only about the US paying taxes to the UN so they can "distribute" the dollars to developing countries to "mitigate" the effects of some imagined future catastrophy.
Remember the UN's Oil For Food program and the many millionaires that were created from that scam. Same people, same agenda, same result.

Way to go, Bill McCollum!!
And thank you for being the only Cabinet member with enough guts to oppose Turncoat Charlie's scheme to restore voting rights of felons.
That question should have been a constitutional amendment put to the voters rather than a 3-to-1 vote by Turncoat Charlie & Alex Sink and Turncoat Bronson.
Posted by: | December 27, 2007 at 11:14 PM
Why is nobody mentioning that McCullum is advocating the theories and products of a Communist?
But I guess since he is selling the DVD McCullom must be rubbing off on Durkin as much as Durkin is rubbing off on McCullom.

Bill McCollum is proof of intelligent design. Fifth-day product.
And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.

I'm happy to see the "facts don't matter" crowd is alive and well on this blog. The reason I'm happy is the voters have figured out that you are all a bunch of fools and they are more than happy to leave you behind in your own version of never-never land.
Keep up the good work!

Where were all of these anti-capitalist goons in the middle ages when earth's temperature was about 3 degree warmer than it is now?
Does anyone give thought that we've simply emerged from the mini-ice age that devastated Europe's population in the middle ages?
Posted by: | December 28, 2007 at 07:48 AM
Gene thinks the Middle Ages are the period between age 45 and 65.

7:48 - you are calling the environmentalists the "anti-capitalist goons"?
Um...it is our AG Billy McCollom who is teaming up with a Communist!

If man is so powerful that we can create global warming, what can't we stop other natural events like hurricanes, tornados, blizzards, drought, floods, etc.
According the Science Channel, 700 million years ago the entire planet was encased by ice at least a mile thick. Then the planet started to warm and melted the ice away. Man was not here then, but I suppose it was still out fault.
Warming and cooling is a natural process of our planet. There was even a mini ice age as recently as the 1600's. The cycle will change and the next generation will be worried about global cooling.
Hold on to your wallets, it is all about the money and how our government can get more from us.

Crist's global warming policy is the brainchild of Lemieux. Just watch now as George and Kise cash in as they go to the private sector.
Posted by: | December 28, 2007 at 10:40 AM
They both can't lobby the Governor for two years but they can certainly offer counsel to any clients. Plus, both are attorneys and can provide "legal" advice without lobbying. Heard that a lot of the big lobyists in tallahassee are getting shot at by both these guys.
Posted by: | December 28, 2007 at 10:42 AM
Who are they shooting at?
Posted by: | December 28, 2007 at 10:44 AM
10:42 - It's pretty desperate to prospect for business on the blogs, Kise. Should have taken the offer from your lobbyist friend when it was offered!

Global warming..... with us since the day the ice age ended!!!!
Come on Bill , lead the way , not pander to the RINO!Better yet ,challenge this feel good gov in the next term , as he seems to embrace the liberal theories more than common sense.
Then again how many felons can't wait to sell thier absenttee ballot's in the next election , since charlie opened the door for that fraud?
Posted by: Rydermike | December 28, 2007 at 12:14 PM
The whole Global Warming Scam is an effort to collect carbon taxes. Chain-gang Charlie likes taxes.
Posted by: Jim Johnson | December 28, 2007 at 03:31 PM
The criminals are really in trouble with McCollum on their trail. Can he even find the door to his office? Once again, Florida is a national laughingstock.

Don't be fooled by bureaucrat loving MCConundrum. He loves technocrats and the likes--just go look at his appointments--they love to regulate and tell corporations what to do---gonna bring Microsoft to its kness with Trish O'Connor (who apoints a technocrat anti-truster like that to a deputy positions) Reagan said to his group of managers and aides to never trust government and consider them the us and government the they. Not with McConundrum. He is,wrongly, trying to be a hard right politician for the next election--but his appointments betry him.

McCollum stood up to the liberal fascists in that recent Florida university issue regarding free speech. Now he's standing up again as the left tries to push nonsense down our throats and put their hands in our pocketbooks. Good for you, Bill!

Martin Durkin a scientist?
If so, what type of scientist?
Any real understanding of environmental impacts?
Does he desire for rivers to turn to fire as they did in the United States in the 1950s and 1960s?
