A Bahamian weekend for Crist, GOP bigwigs
Gov. Charlie Crist, RPOF Chairman Jim Greer and a "few friends" are headed to the Bahamas on Saturday for some fun.
"I've invited a few of my friends and the governor has invited some friends," Greer told the Buzz after landing in South Carolina to attend tonight's Republican presidential debate on Fox News.
But Greer wouldn't say who those friends are, only describing them as people who have been generous to Republican Party and the Vote Yes on 1 campaign. "It's not a fundraiser," he insisted, adding that he might still "ask a few for help in the coming year."
"We're going down to have a day of fishing, some boating and maybe some golf," Greer said.

Will they fly over on The People's Jet?

Rum, Sodomy and the Lash!

Does state law apply in international water or on foreign soil.
Crist will pay to get there, but then what can the lobbyist pay for everything else??
Key West is in the state?
This looks a little fishy, loop hole in the law. Or does state law not apply in the Bahamas?

We miss you, Governor Bush.
Posted by: | January 11, 2008 at 04:30 AM
Nope. State laws don't apply out of state, that's why so many of the members like dining in Georgia.

Is Cristi still in the GOP?
Posted by: | January 11, 2008 at 08:41 AM
Do state sunshine and gift ban laws apply out of state? That is an interesting question. If a state officer were to receive a bribe while in Africa, seems like that would still be a crime in Florida. Anybody have a real answer?

With all the laws they will be breaking down there i'm sure the courts can find something to stick!

Wow, that’s really nice, Chuck. Listen, you’ve had a hard day and you deserve a little R & R. So you go on to the Bahamas and enjoy some “fishing, some boating and maybe some golf”
In the mean time, we’ll hold down the fort and see if we can’t figure a way to help GOOD, HARD-WORKING, TAXPAYING, VOTERS FROM LOSING THEIR HOMES BECAUSE LYING, OVER-TANNED, JET-SETTING, PHOTO-OPPING, CORPORATE PUPPETS LIKE YOU FAILED TO HONOR YOUR PROMISE TO LOWER INSURANCE RATES AND TAXES!
Sorry… bring me back some flounder, will ya!

Nice Pogues reference. I wonder if anyone else got it.

Is that Greer and Charlie in the picture?
Posted by: | January 11, 2008 at 10:08 AM
Lets hope Jeb NEVER COMES BACK. He's screwed this State as much as his idiot brother has screwed the country.

Unbelievable. Bosquet and the rest of the press corp are ONCE AGAIN going to give this guy a pass.
Posted by: | January 11, 2008 at 10:57 AM
I'd like to know if Greer is allowed to do this with my GOP donations. I certainly think it would have been appropriate for the Chairman to ask the Executive Committee if he could use Party resources for a little sun and fun getaway.
Posted by: | January 11, 2008 at 10:59 AM
Greer is a crook!
Posted by: | January 11, 2008 at 11:01 AM
10:08... I thinks it's both of them. Chuck is on the left.
Posted by: | January 11, 2008 at 11:02 AM
One has become too cocky if bragging about a Bahamas trip with the Governor and lobbyists. Quiet down now.
Posted by: | January 11, 2008 at 12:06 PM
Crist is a great Governor and Greer is a good Chairman. Have a nice time !

Well, for starters, I bet Crist is going to stay at Miami Manny Diaz's Cat Cay pad. See, if you had been reading, when the Keating Five were getting investigated, Keating sold to Manny Diaz,( as a friend of Jeb Bush's who got him highway contracts with no experience in the 1980's) Keating's land holdings.
So our Manny Diaz, last time I looked, as not declared it, in his campaign finances when he runs for Mayor.
Go to the Nassau Guardian, and type in Jeb Bush. He was over there with Castille in 2005-6, without the press corp knowledge, screaming for LNG tanker terminals for Texas Companies and Florida ones, asn SUEZ, tractebel and Distrigas parent companies...
Seems Manny Diaz was not upset of an LNG tanker terminal off Miami, but sure as heck upset with his Bahamas Cat Cay paradise with the Bahamas Lng Tanker terminal.
The FERC filing is still open, with Crist nice enough, on the Siting board as Atty General to approve the LNG tanker terminal for El paso Gas and Distrigas upside Ft Lauderdale's head now!!!!

Jeasus another Vacation for this guy. He works maybe 3 days a week at the most. He turned his south america trip into an extra week long vacation, which was only a couple months ago. I'm fine with people taking vacations and love going on them myself, but this guy is a joke with it. Maybe if he put in a full work week i'd understand, but maybe just maybe hold off on the vacation till after the election and the leg. secession. Listen Chuck, you have some big problems on the horizon, I'd suggest you start working before the PEOPLE throw you back in Bayfront tower.

Which lobbyists are going? C'mon SPT...that's the story.

Who cares? Why does anyone care about this. Charlie--you should be in FL helping the Floridians with their property taxes and the upcoming possible recession. Oh wait--you need to schmooze with the donors to get re-elected??? FL needs help! Does anyone in an elected office care? Egos, egos and more egos!

"Nice Pogues reference. I wonder if anyone else got it."
The title is taken from a quote often attributed to Winston Churchill ("Don't talk to me about naval tradition. It's nothing but rum, sodomy and the lash.")
