Go Posey!
Posted by: | January 30, 2008 at 11:41 PM
Mike's the guy - Congressman Haridopolos representing the Space Coast! Go Mike Go!
Posted by: | January 30, 2008 at 11:42 PM
Posey or Haridopolis. Weldon will be missed but would support Haridopolis if he gives up the senate presidency
Posted by: | January 30, 2008 at 11:49 PM
Posey is an old has-been. Let's see young Haridopolis run-he is a real conservative who won't be beholden to the insurance companies Posey is so fond of.
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 12:01 AM
Haridopolos. A leader and innovator.
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 12:02 AM
Don't leave Dave - I am from his area and will go with his endorsement
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 12:04 AM
Over 1/2 of the district is Brevard Co., and they love Mike... as do Osceola and Indian River counties. Advantage Haridopolos.
Posted by: GA BlueDog | January 31, 2008 at 12:14 AM
definately mike haridopolis
Posted by: mary | January 31, 2008 at 12:29 AM
We shall see on Friday

The winner of this seat will some big shoes to fill with Appropriations, NASA, Air Force. If Mike chooses to step up to the national level in '08 instead of reigning as President of the FL Senate, Posey will be fine. Mike is the #1 choice however and favorite of locals, from Republican clubs to families and numerous retirees in the area.
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 01:24 AM
How about mayfield
Posted by: fsugal | January 31, 2008 at 01:54 AM
fsugal-- Unfortunately Stan cannot win it because he is not well known enough. Posey or Haridopolos are good conservatives and would make fine members of the U.S. House; my vote would be with Mike for the victory..
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 02:32 AM
I thought Posey was going to run for some local office?
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 04:16 AM
I guess this means Mayfield is healthy, and that's a good thing.
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 07:08 AM
This seat is Haridopolos' for the taking and he should take it. If he is Senate Prez, his career is done after 2012 but the sky's the limit as a Congressman.
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 07:11 AM
Posey or Haridopolos!
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 08:12 AM
Smallest hands in congress.
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 08:25 AM
Is Mayfield really well? I thought it was terminal?
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 08:46 AM
Mike needs to take the seat - who even knows if the Repubs will be in charge by 2012 - and he can go from making 30k a year as a state senator to over 150k as a congressman. Brevard county loves Mike!
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 09:02 AM
I see the Bennett folks are busy blogging.
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 09:06 AM
Mayfield is doing great - best looking terminal man i've seen in a long time.
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 09:07 AM
Who is Bennett? He running for Congress too?
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 09:07 AM
Just shows Mike H never had the senate presidency thing wraped up.
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 09:19 AM
#1- Haridopolos
#2- Posey
Posted by: Ethan | January 31, 2008 at 09:20 AM
825
I'm still laughing at that one
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 09:23 AM
Bennett and gang will be crying in their soup if Mike chooses to keep the leadership slot
Does Paula eat soup? Or just crow
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 09:24 AM
so what role does good ol "I'm your best buddy" don gaetz play in this one?
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 09:36 AM
president in waiting
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 09:41 AM
What is the fed contribution limit? Wher do I send a check to Haridopolus for congress!
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 09:53 AM
Brian Chase should run. He worked for Weldon and has deep ties with the Space community.
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 10:03 AM
Go Mike. Good news. He'd easily win.
Posted by: RJM | January 31, 2008 at 10:16 AM
With his stature and vision, Haridopolos could be Florida's conservative Kucinich!
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 11:12 AM
Bennett is not good for Florida. Remember the gambling junket to Canada.
How many hottubs has Bennett been in in Tallahassee?
Bennett is no statesman. He needs to get tossed.
Posey is Spaced out enough. Mr. Knowitall might tell us he was there when the Us Constitution was ratified and he knows why the First Amendment passed. (Who Cares?)
Mike on the other hand has the intellect and demeanor to represent the people of Florida in Washington.
He would be a credit.
Bennett and Posey are not capable of managing themselves appropriately in larger groups. Neither is an opinion leader...get these hacks out and go with Mikey.
Posted by: Ben Watchin | January 31, 2008 at 11:13 AM
Mike H wins if in the race. If not I will probably end up supporting Bill Posey who is too a known quantity. Run Mike run!
Posted by: gene | January 31, 2008 at 11:34 AM
Haridopolos can have both. He will be Senate President from 2010-12 and then draw himself a nice congresional seat during redistricting for 2012, a la Feeney. The Space Coast and Treasure Coast get two quality conservatives, who can cake walk into Congress. This is too simple.
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 12:53 PM
You can't have both. There are too many others who will want a seat. And Florida may only get one? Where would you put it and who would you push out? Tampa needs a new one to get rid of Kathy Castor, yuck!
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 12:59 PM
What about Altman. I heard he's in. He's got more of the district than Posey. Posey V. Mayfield V. Altman. Hari doesn't run.
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 01:00 PM
Hardly think Haridopolis has that kind of intention. More likely that he's thinking of his family and work invested at the state level over the last 7 years. Who would want to give that up; great opportunity to shape the state.
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 01:01 PM
The senate president can't shape all that much, lets be honest. But, its more than some no name freshamn congressman.
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 01:02 PM
If Haridop doesn't run, Posey.
If Posey doesn't run, Altman.
Mayfield may withdraw after a slight attempt to gauge support.
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 01:02 PM
Is Posey really in? He was set to be Supervisor of Elections for Brevard- not a bad gig
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 01:04 PM
how about Posey keeping the seat warm for 4 years allowing Haridopolos to be Senate President and run for it after he terms out?
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 01:27 PM
The D's will win the seat with out the kid. MH is very popular in seat. R's need to push him or they will loose the seat.
Posted by: outsider | January 31, 2008 at 02:13 PM
Sorry 2:13 it is not a Dem. District! Posey is the front runner even if Mikey jumps in the race, however if Mikey is smart he becomes Senate President and draws a Congressional District for himself during Re-Districting!!!!!
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 03:07 PM
Definitely a seat for the R's...!
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 03:45 PM
No way Mayfield wins. I remember the sexual harrassment thing back in 2003. If he runs, all that will come out and there is no way he wants his wife to find out about that, she'll win his House seat and divorce him. Don't risk it Stan, just go quietly into that good night.
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 05:05 PM
Posey is an idiot who talks Republican, but when it comes to keeping government out of peoples lives, he is too busy imposing new rules that control everyone. He is too tight with insurance and Floridians have suffered because of it.
This is a guy who actually wrote new law that convolutes the petition gathering process because his own mother was too gullible to say No to a petitioner and signed her name on the line. Now we all have to deal with paying the tax bill for Supervisors of Election all over the state to revisit signatures repeatedly. Thanks mommy!
Posey - NO. In fact, Posey should never hold an elected office anywhere, at any level in this state.
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 05:27 PM
Florida picks up at least 2 congressional seats, maybe 3, since we have already grown over 2 million residents since the 2000 Census. Thats leaves plenty of room for both to have a safe seat AND pack and crack the remaining Democrats. Haridopolos should wait.

Haridopolis is the best candidate! Posey is a solid choice for the district if Haridopolis decides not to jump in. Winners all around, no way the Democrat will win.
