Crist hits the road with McCain
One of the reasons Gov. Charlie Crist moved up the release of his budget recommendations was so that he can travel with U.S. Sen. John McCain in a series of out-of-state presidential events on Monday and Tuesday.
Buzz hears that Crist will appear with McCain at a New York City fundraiser on Monday night. And Crist is also tentatively scheduled to appear with McCain in three states on Super Tuesday: Connecticut, Missouri and Arizona. He'll end Super Tuesday with McCain in Phoenix, at what the Arizona senator hopes will be the clenching of the Republican nomination.

Lets see if we can help
Tallahassee is at...
Lat - 30.38 Long - 84.37
Charlie - your office is within a 10 mile radius of that...
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 12:18 PM
Well, this certainly smacks of a VP nod to Crist.
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 12:20 PM
I was under the impression that Charlie was supposed to be the Governor of Florida, not campaigning for VP?
doesn't he have more pressing problems like cutting property taxes (he said A1 was only the beginning....right)?, cutting property insurance, balancing a $2.5 billion budget deficit, improving our schools, etc. etc.
can I get as many days off on the state dole as Charlie?

More from Bob Novak:
Sen. Mel Martinez (who solidified the important Cuban vote) and the popular Gov. Charlie Crist. Martinez was infuriated by what he called Romney's demagoguery on the immigration issue. Crist's final decision was influenced by former Gov. Jeb Bush's unofficial backing for Romney.
I hope CC gets the VP nod. We'll never see in him in FL again once he gets a taste of DC.

Hey Chuck… “The People” called and left a message. It said:
GET TO WORK YOU LYING, PANDERING, OVER-TANNED, MAP-QUEST CHALLENGED, INSURANCE COMPANY OWNED, JET-SETTING, PHOTO-OPING, NEVER PAID PROPERTY TAX, WORTHLESS SOB!
Sorry, I only had enough money for Taco Bell last night. MAYBE $240 WILL HELP!

Angry, bitter sour grapes. The madder you people get, the more I laugh. Laughter is really good for the soul, so could you please step it up a notch? I think it releases endorphins too because I feel great! In fact, I have felt great for more than a year now!
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 12:35 PM
hey, cut it out!
CC is so much closer to VP then fattie ever was, isnt he?
and he doesnt even have an international crime family backing him, does he?

Now that we are getting closer to a nominee we have to start looking at what type of Congress that the next President will have. There is no question that the current Congress has not been living up to the standards of the American people. We need a return of statesmen and not politicians. There is no better person that we can send to Congress than Allen West.
Allen is a 22 year Army veteran from South Florida running for Congress. We need leaders in Congress that will return honor and integrity to Congress. Go to Allen's website and see for yourself, www.allenwestforcongress.com
Allen needs all of our help. Donate $5, $10 or $25 dollars now and lets send a great man to Washington.

Crist just helped pass the largest tax cut in the state's history.
When will the sour grapes and the whining from the Gallagher clan (aka Mitt's losing team) and the Libs on this blog end?
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 12:43 PM
12:35, enjoy the laughter while you can. Cause in six months, you’ll be crying at your drive thru post at McD’s. All of you monkey-sticks are toast when the reality of this con hits… oh…. and it will hit hard.
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 12:45 PM
Like how the governor's office labels the proposed 2008-09 budget:
"The Crist/Kottkamp Administration Budget"
Looks like Charlie Crist is already getting ready to dump everything in Kottkamp's lap.

Crist just helped pass the largest tax con in the state's history.
When will the punk staffers and the toe-tappers from the Legislature clan (aka the boy page team) and the truth on this blog end?

12:47,
deny reality if you wish. you PROBABLY started that a long time ago.
CRIST'S tax cut plan passed!

its gonna a be democratic sweep, dave22, so save your $$$$.
each and every time that foto of walnuts hugging the snot out of chimpy hits the papers, screen and net, people are simply gonna shake their heads and think,
"FOUR MORE YEARS OF THAT JACKASS??!!"

In another blog, some were pontificating on who Kottkamp would pick as his LG. The names tossed out were Greer, Carey Baker, Jennifer Carroll, Marco Rubio and Dean Cannon.
I don't think he will pick any of them for the following reasons: Greer- he has no desire for public office. He likes being where he is (although Kottkamp does have a good relationship with him) Carroll and Cannon no way. He has no relationship with them at all. Baker - while I think they do consider each other friends, I don't see it. There are too many other people who make more sense. And finally, Rubio - absolutely, positively NEVER. He knows he could never trust Rubio and Rivera being around Rubio would ensure he would never pick him.
My thoughts are: Allan Bense (although his comments about Crist may ruin that one, but he did apologize), Gaston Cantens, Dan Webster or Mike Haridopolis.

Remember, CC can run for veep and still be gov. McCain (who is looking more and more like a Dole rerun) has to win before CC would leave office.
What does CC bring to a McCain ticket that Huck doesn't?

i love it, actually i hate it, but - all you fools who bought the "A1 is the first-step" argument have been shown to be absolute fools - charlie just wanted to check-the-box off and jump on the plane with mcamnesty and geller says no more work on taxes - hah
they were two of the major crafters of A1 - and they've bailed on any further tax work (can't call it reform or a cut because A1 is neither) - so be very careful trying to take the hook out of your lip!
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 01:58 PM
Kottkamp would likely pick someone from the I-4 area or someone from Miami (Cantens, Llorente) to fend off a primary challenge from Rubio.
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 02:02 PM
Not so sure CC is picked as VP, he can deliver Florida w/out being a shadow of McCain.
If it did happen, Galvano for LG.

Seems like all you people who don't like Charlie so much should be happy he is gone.
But no, you didn't back a winner, so you have to whine about something, anything, to relieve your bitterness.
The numbers show it over and over: the people like Charlie. Get on board, or shut up. Try to get your guy elected. Just do something besides whine and complain.
But of course---silly me--- that's a lot easier than really accomplishing something.
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 02:23 PM
If there is anyone who doesn't think Charlie isn't going to be on the ticket with McCain as his VEEP, you are in la la land. This is going to be a very convenient leap to Washington, where Charlie's heart is, and forget all about the problems with taxes and insurance in Florida. I think Charlie has his eye on the the white house in 2017 or sooner if something happens to McCain. He's found a shortcut to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

this kottkamp guy... is he even governor material? anyone know?
Posted by: david w. | January 31, 2008 at 02:25 PM
Why should it matter if he is? Charlie isn't. In one way it would be great for him to just get on out of here. In another way, may the good Lord watch over us if that idiot ever darkens the doorway of the White House.

12:25 I will never work at McDonalds. I have plenty of money and have no need to work at all.

David W; Kottkamp is a fine man and one of the nicest people I have ever met. He is incredibly smart and held several key leadership positions in the House. I watched him as Chairman of the Judiciary committee and he ran that committee better than anyone I have seen in a long time. He has also passed some serious and complicated legislation. He gets along well with R's and D's and is well respected. He also had a successful law practice.
So, to answer your question, yes. He is qualified to be Governor and would do an excellent job.
I like Gov Crist, but Kottkamp would make the Republican base very happy.

A McAmnesty/Crust ticket would be the Democrats dream!
A “done nothing” Senator paired with a ‘do nothing” Governor… it doesn’t get much better than that.
Crust may be able to smoke-n-mirror the gray-hairs in Floriduuuuh, but on a national stage, this punk gets slapped but good.
McAmnesty has the edge over Crust though… at least his hair color is natural and he digs split-tails.
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 04:07 PM
If McCain swooped down and picked Cristi it would be good for all of us. Hopefully, Kottkamp would appoint Rubio as his Lt. Gov., making both Cristi and Rubio irrelelvant in one fell swoop.
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 04:19 PM
Man I can't believe the Gallagher people are still hating on Crist.
Posted by: | January 31, 2008 at 07:39 PM
This is an historic time: we are witnessing the demise of the right-wing-nutso wing of the Republican Party.
Good ridance!

10:06 - the left-wing commies need not worry about the right-wing of the spectrum - we'll be just fine - it's gonna be some hard trudging the next few years, but even Reagan came back in 80 after a primary defeat in 76 to Ford - we'll be just fine - go back to the blogs on Moveon

What in the world is Crist "for amnesty" doing out on the McAmnesty campaign trail? Florida still has a property insurance crisis and the real estate market has not turned around yet.
He is so fortunate that the average person has an attention span of 30 seconds and is to busy seeking entertainment to hold elected officials to actually doing their job.
