Crist's endorsement...
...is still no sure thing. "I haven't decided if I will endorse or who I will endorse," he told Buzz today. "It's sort of a gut thing."
Crist had not heard of McCain's reported comments in south Florida today opposing a national catastrophic fund, a top Crist priority.

It's no "GUT" thing, it is typical Charlie, waiting to see who the front runner in FLA is before endorsing. What a mess this gov. is.

Regardless of Part affiliation, I will vote for the first one to refuse an endorsement by “The People’s Mistake”

Ah, go soak your head, hysterical monkey.

If Crist won't endorse, then we should see who the candidates themselves have endorsed...
Giuliani endorsed Cuomo over Pataki, because Pataki's plan to cut taxes would be "ABSOLUTE DISASTER"
Posted by: | January 21, 2008 at 02:50 PM
Whoever it is, you can be sure that Charlie will be with the winner.

2:45... just take the red pill, and everything will be just fine...

2:51 - take your own red pill. I am sure you can find one in suppository form.

3:18, I would be completely in favor of a "real campaign on the issues instead of lies and fear." Such a campaign would completely eliminate all of this "global warming" BS!

Crist will never endorse anyone who doesn't primise HIM the Vicepresidency.
Why do you all think he ran for Governor? Why do you think he got the Legislature to repeal the resign to run rule.
Posted by: | January 21, 2008 at 03:57 PM
Charlie,
Please endorse John McCain. And, while you're at it, see if Martinez will join you in your support.
It will be the kiss of death to McCain. My fingers are crossed.
Posted by: | January 21, 2008 at 04:08 PM
It's no secret that Jeb has been quitely steering people Mitt's way. If only he'd make an endorsement.

Governor Crist waiting to see which way the wind is blowing before endorsing?
Posted by: | January 21, 2008 at 07:38 PM
bOSTON Transplant,
Even though that poll showed Romney ahead, nearly 3/4 of those polled was before McCain won South Carolina.
Plus Ramussen still has McCain as favorite to win FL. Go figure.
Posted by: | January 21, 2008 at 07:40 PM
I know I am going to get lambasted by Romney fans, but if Romney does not win florida, by a very big margin (8-10% point), I do not see him winning the GOP republican nomination. At best, he would enter the convention in a split convention.
Super tuesday is stacked up against Romney. South Carolina has shown me that the south will not vote for him (florida may be an anamoly since there are alot of retirees there). NY, NJ, Conn and Deleware will go to either McCain or Giuliani. A majority of california delegates will go to either McCain or Giuliani. Arizona is McCain's country. That leaves Romney with less than 460 delegates to really compete for on super tuesday and most of those states will split their delegate totals based on vote tallies.
That means coming out of super tuesday, he will be 2nd (maybe even 3rd) in total delegates.
The worse thing that could happen to Romney is Giuliani getting wiped out in Florida. That would mean McCain would win NY, NJ, Conn, Az, Del and a large part of california. (and before all you romney fans argue, Romney will not win any of these states whether he wins florida or not). That would give McCain 360 delegate advantage before he heads into the day.

asher...
One state at a time. I'm watching Florida right now. I'm sure Romney's got a game plan for everywhere else, but if he's not divulging it, why should I bother trying to guess what it is?
Posted by: Ogrepete | January 22, 2008 at 01:01 AM
Pretty much every state has John McCain ahead.
I think he wins New York, New Jersey, Texas, Arizona & delegate rich California.
McCain could at worst have the most delegates at the convention. If Thompson & Huckabee goes all the way, one or both may give him the needed delegates possibly as his V.P.
Posted by: | January 22, 2008 at 02:47 AM
Same could hold true for Democrats.
Let say obama & clinton splits, edward's delegate could mean a V.P. run
Posted by: | January 22, 2008 at 02:49 AM
If Crist endorses anyone, it would be McCain. McCain was the only candidate to endorse Crist before the primary. Guiliani endorsed Crist in the General election. And Crist will align with McCain because they both work are hand and hand with democrats. They love working with them!
Posted by: | January 22, 2008 at 08:19 AM
the establishment is wounding or killing off McCain. They wanted Romney but he is proving unelectable so they are starting to shift to guiliani. Watch rush and sean start to speak nice about guiliani. With arround 40% vote in and exit polls showing guiliani has taken arround 42% of that vote some of the experts now believe all he has to do is stay ahead slightly of mccain and he wins Florida by 8pts and romney third. On the 30th Huckabee will be done and officially auditing for vp. Mccain will be out of cash and dropping quickly to 3rd in national polls and romney will begin a torched earth negative campaign to stay relevant. Guiliani wins.
Posted by: kevin | January 22, 2008 at 02:50 PM
Kevin, please source the 42% voting for Rudy in early/absentee voting. I have not read that, sure would make it interesting.
Posted by: | January 22, 2008 at 02:54 PM
Those of you that say McCain is WAY ahead nationally are BEING MISLEAD. The only NATIONAL POLL done daily is RASMUSSEN. It shows that McCain and ROMNEY are virtually tied for 1st place. The other polls; i.e., Real Clear Politics, etc are still using the averages. Next time you look at a poll, look at the RANGE OF DATES that the POLL DATA INCLUDES. Many of them go back to 1/9. A poll is only as accurate as the DATA INCLUDED. If you want CURRENT TRENDS, then ONLY LOOK AT POLLS TAKEN AFTER SC PRIMARIES; i.e. Rassmussen 1/20, USA Survey 1/20. These polls show ROMNEY and McCain tied in FLORIDA at 22.5% and Giuliani at 19%. They also show that Guiliani is loosing ground, McCain has leveled off, and ROMNEY is GAINING!
Posted by: Boston Transplant | January 23, 2008 at 02:59 PM
PS,
As for the INDIVIDUAL STATE POLLS, again, you have to look at the DATES. Most of the state polls are 2-3 MONTHS OLD. Some even older!!!

Mitt is tied with McCain in California now! Mitt is on the rise. If he wins Florida, he will continue to rise nationally. Once people get to know him, they like him and hop on board. That has been his strategy from the beginning since he didn't start with the name recognition that McCain and Guiliani did.
Florida voters - pick the true conservative in the race. Don't ever forget the many many times McCain has stabbed his own party in the back. The Bush tax cuts would have been even greater had he not had opposition from McCain. McCain was one of only 2 republicans to vote against them. Now he says he wants to make them permanent? Don't be fooled. His amnesty bill, opposition to the marriage ammendment, etc, etc all show that he's too liberal on all the important issues. A liberal on the republican ticket can't beat a liberal on the democratic ticket! Most importantly, we need a leader with economic know-how and vast executive experience, not a career politician! Choose Mitt!!

You are 100% right.
Rommney is third in Florida,he will loose Florida leaving only McCain and Guiliani and you also forgot he might win Louisiana with his castrophic relief plan, after all they elected Bobby Jindal a Republican. He and Mayor Ray Nagin will endores Guiliani's national catastrophe plan ,as well as Arnold Swatterger in California after the California fires and possible earthquakes
