Gaetz, Seiler hit phones for tax cut
UPDATE: Here is the audio from Seiler. "It is not a perfect plan," he says, "but it is a step in the right direction."
---------
More pro Amendment 1 robo calls today ...
From Sen. Don Gaetz, R-Fort Walton Beach, Rep. Jack Seiler, D-Wilton Manors, and a new one from Gov. Charlie Crist.
Crist will vote in the morning in St. Petersburg and doing some live interviews on national TV -- appearances in which he'll talk about John McCain and surely weave a last-minute pitch for A1. That evening, he'll visit with Realtors at the Vinoy in St. Petersburg then heads to Miami to watch returns with McCain. What you make of that?
Opponents are sending e-mails and making phone calls. They plan to blanket polling locations in Tallahassee tomorrow.

This editorial says it all about Amendment 1. Please copy and paste and get a true picture of amendment 1....

We do not need a Constitutional Amendment to lower taxes! WAKE-UP, PEOPLE, we will regret this if it passes!

Want a tax cut? Vote YES tomorrow. Don't let government spend your money - take it back with a yes vote.

This amendment is the worst thing to ever come out of Tallahassee.
We have families paying $6000 in taxes and next door in the same style house you have someone paying $1200 in taxes. Who needs tax relief? Obviously the person paying $6000.
What did our Governor give us? He decided it would be a good idea to lock in the $4800 discount for the $1200 taxpayer and give the $6000 taxpayer a measly $240 in savings.
This bill will divide our communities, pitting neighbor against neighbor, creating animosity among our citizens.
Governor, you need to go back to Elementary School and read Dr. Seuss's book the Star Belly Sneeches.
This is the exact same thing.
Anyone who supports this ridiculous amendment has lost all sense of what is really immportant in life.

Want a tax increase in sheep's clothing? Vote YES tomorrow. Don't let government spend your money - without giving them the thumbs up!

Looks like most of the people posting on this blog are bored local government liberal-types who have been brainwashed.
Please, go back to "work" spending my tax money.

I REALLY am a local realtor, imaging that! He did get it wrong. Actually if Amendment 1 passes the current homesteaders taxes of $1200 would go down to approx. $800 and the investor paying $6000 gets nothing. It does actually make the disparity worse and very bad for beach realtors like me. However, I am voting YES YES YES to 1 and then pushing for MORE MORE MORE. I like Rubio's plan- check it out on cutpropertytaxesnow.com If we all get behind him, it would be better for ALL FLORIDIANS!

Vote yes and consider an other way to look at taxes. Maximizing our comparative advantage. The state could increase sales tax to reduce real-estate taxes. Comparative advantage, yes our advantage is real-estate; our disadvantage is consuming foreign goods that sends profits and jobs to other places. How do we change the regressive effects?
Make purchases at Good Will or Salvation Army or similar store would be tax exempt. The benefits those that donate will have more money to spend in our economy from federal tax savings. Those that buy from donation stores are not affected by regressive aspects of sales tax. And the once used items do not go into a landfill. Other benefits less purchased new store goods means demand for foreign items go down price goes down.
Other benefits lets face it if you are on vacation in Florida from another state the sales tax going up it is not going to sway your decision to come here or your decision to buy people buy differently on vacation.
Another idea is to stop spending this may require getting rid of those that say they are conservative buy spend way to much....think about........
