Romney expects a win, but 2nd place OK
Former Gov. Mitt Romney said he thinks the top two candidates in Florida will advance strongly going into the following Feb. 5th primary day, in an interview with Political Connections and Times Political Editor Adam Smith (in connection with Bay News 9), which will air on Sunday.
"I think the first two spots coming out of Florida will have a good shot at becoming the nominee, I think it would be hard if I came in third, fourth or fifth to consider it a successful campaign beyond that," Romney said. "But I'm expecting to come in no. 1. If I don't get no. 1, I expect no. 2, and therefore I'll continue."

Mitt the hypocrite.
As one of the few conservatives in Massachusetts I was thrilled when Mitt was elected governor…and then he came into office. Raised fees, instituted mandates, put liberal judges on the bench.
HE WILL DO ANYTHING THE POLLS TELL HIM TO!
Please vote McCain!

Think your gas is expensive? So did the poeple of Massachusetts. Then they elected Mitt Romney and he RAISED THEIR GAS TAX.

Belief Net Poll:
Evangelicals view John McCain almost as favorably as they do Mike Huckabee.

Maybe someone needs to remind those evangelicals that John McCain supports embryonic stem cell research and filed a brief on behalf of the Democrats in a lawsuit against Wisconsin Right To Life.
McCain will do as much for social issues nationally as Charlie Crist has done here in Florida.
Posted by: | January 26, 2008 at 11:43 AM
11:43 they know. Read the poll before you post silly things.
Thing is, evangelicals know a phony when they see one. Bad luck, Mitt!
Posted by: | January 26, 2008 at 11:46 AM
I've started Democrats for Romney. He'll be way better than Obama or Hillary. Vote Romney for a good liberal Republican. Same social liberalism as the leading Dems, but the USA will get the international respect on defense issues for having a Republican in office.
Vote for Romney.

Mitt is the best candidate to lead our country during these unsure times. Our economy is in real trouble. It makes sense to have someone in the oval office who has had the midas touch his entire life.
Besides, it'd be nice to have the confidence that our president is smarter than any other world leader out there. Can you say that now?
Mitt Romney!

oh 11:52 - gosh you are just so funny - so witty and original
idiot
oh, and by the way, watch the news and read the NYTimes, they LOOOOOOVE McCain and despise Romney - that should tell you right there who the true republican liberal is - in case you couldn't figure it out, it's McCain - oh but you knew that because your so witty and original
Posted by: | January 26, 2008 at 12:06 PM
111:46, what is so silly about McCain supporting embryonic stem cell research and siding with Democrats in suing a pro-life organization?
Posted by: | January 26, 2008 at 12:11 PM
The New York Times ENDORSED John McCain, and that is the BEST reason to vote for ANYONE BUT MCCAIN!!!!
I will not vote for anyone endorsed by The New York Times!!!!

What's so silly about Democrats for Romney? He's the best Republican candidate for them to beat...
Posted by: | January 26, 2008 at 12:57 PM
wondering when a leading piglican candidate will begin to take issue with the failures of leadership and honesty by the chimpinchief.
lets face it, the campaign will be about the drunk and his myriad mistakes, lies, stupidities, lies, incompetence, lies...and any piglican who ignores that fact and fails to demonstrate he will NOT follow in the misguided stumblings of dummy is doooooomed!
invoking the memory of ronnie raygun is meaningless. his "presidency" ended twenty years ago and nobody cares about who is "the next" pudding brain!!
remember catsup as a "vegetable", 170-plus dead marines in beirut and trading arms for hostages -- only a few of puddingbrains manymany stellar moments.

1:00pm - come on, put the keyboard down before you hurt yourself, yes, it's okay, we know life can sometimes be so overwhelming, so why don't you take a little break and go upstairs and see if your mommy can make you some nice hot cocoa for you to take back into the basement
Posted by: | January 26, 2008 at 01:09 PM
care to counter any facts there, or just demonstrate you delusional status?
2008 will be referendum on the chimp and his monumental supidity!!

Regarding McCain supporting stem cell research, at least with McCain you know exactly where he stands. With Romney, you have to wait until he sticks his finger in the changing winds to find out what he believes --- which is nothing other than his arrogant seld.
Check this out for video of Romney (his actual words) flip-flopping on abortion:

I am a pro-life evangelical and I am proud to support Mitt Romney. Romney was wrong on the abortion issue until about five years ago. He openly admited that he was wrong and has been a consisten champion of life ever since. He used his veto power to support life as Governor of Mass.
John McCain (aka Ted Kennedy's "mini-me") claims to be "pro-life" but at the same time says Roe v. Wade should be upheld. He says he is pro-life, but supports experimentation on human embryos. If there is a flip-flopper in this race, it's the Senator from Arizona whose voting record is eerily similar to that of Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton.

To the person touting the beliefnet poll, let's be clear about what beliefnet is. It is NOT a traditional evangelical outlet. It is a site with ties to Jim Wallis, the liberal "Christian" who campaigned for John Kerry in 2004 and works to oppose anything remotely Republican in nature. On the beliefnet website today you can read Jim Wallis or you can read David Lynch touting the benefits of Transcendental Meditation. I'm not getting into a debate over whether liberal Christians are good or bad Christians, I'm merely pointing out that beliefnet is the New York Times of Christian websites. Consider the source.
Posted by: | January 26, 2008 at 03:54 PM
To clarify my comment at 3:54, there is a big difference between beliefnet and say, Focus on the Family. Focus would be categorized as "far right" and beliefnet would be "far left." You can make your own decisions about who is right and who is wrong, but touting a poll from a religious left website as being an indicator of the evangelical right is deceptive and misleading.

You McCain followers must be feeling desperate.
Posted by: | January 26, 2008 at 04:11 PM
12:06 you're hurting my feelings with the 'idiot' comment. The idiot is Romney and his gold tablets. Dum da dum dum. Oh, and you for getting so worked up over my comments. :)
If the Mitt fits.

Romney is hedging himeslf after seeing polls putting him in 2nd.
Romney is trying to buy a nomination.
Sorry Mitt, not here in Florida
Posted by: | January 26, 2008 at 05:30 PM
jesus SUBSCRIBES to beliefnet.
he clearly is NOT a dumbdamentalist!!
please take note, 3.54, meditation or contemplative prayer is an ancient and acceptable form of prayer.
prayer does NOT consist of merely babbling on and on, boring GAWD or JAY-SUS with an undending list of requests, despite what the rev. billybobray may tell you, when he isnt changing tires down at the corner on weekdays.
healthy spirituality expects you to listen a well as babble
onandonadnonandon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry 5:30 money does NOT buy votes
people pulling levers vote. DUH

6:27, Thank you. That was very informative and enlightening. You have demonstrated perfectly that there is a distinct difference between the religious left and the religious right. I won't pass any judgment on your comments, except to say that you reinforced what I was trying to say: beliefnet is the New York Times of Christianity.
Posted by: | January 26, 2008 at 06:55 PM
Romney is the biggest flip flopper.
Which way is the wind blowing today?
Posted by: | January 26, 2008 at 07:00 PM
7:00, yet another unfounded, unsubstantiated and FALSE statement! I suppose that when you're a liberal, that's the best you can do, huh?
Posted by: | January 26, 2008 at 07:03 PM
beliefenet and a mature faith takes brains
dumdamentalism requires blind ignorance

SUPER TUESDAY's results are more indication that John McCain will likely take Mike Huckabee as his V.P.
Huckabee has won W. Virginia, Alabama & could take Georgia Tennessee and Arkansas.
Incredible night for Mike Huckabee!
