Was Cardenas only Cuban who voted for Mitt?
Kidding, of course, but the exit polling results are pretty stark on the Hispanic vote. Only 9 percent of Cuban-Americans voted for Romney, while 54 percent backed McCain and 32 percent Giuliani. Given that Romney and McCain tied among non-Hispanic Republicans, 33 percent to 33 percent, it looks like the Hispanic vote sunk him.
Did Romney's sometimes harsh rhetoric cost him Florida? Maybe part of it. But clearly Mel Martinez helped him win over a lot of the south Florida Hispanic voters that Giuliani was bleeding in the final days.

What about Rubio or is he not Cuban enough

I don't think Al Cardenas' endorsement of Mitt did anything at all. I think Cubans are compassionate people who empathized with an American hero who unquestionably shared their historic pain of wrongful imprisonment and torture at the hands of ruthless people.

Rubio is a big baby and Cardenas is a big lobbyist. Both lacked credibility in "their" community.
Rubio backed his candidate without conviction.
Cardenas backed HIS candidate for convenience.
Bad all-around.

2:24, What, the idiot that graduted at the bottom of his class and crashed his plane 4 times? The only candidate who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth with his daddy and granddaddy being admirals? has he made a business or career from literally scratch. give me a break!

A business career from scratch - lay off the kool aid - for your own good.
Romney's Daddy was a Governor. It takes plenty of moolah to go to Harvard and spend a couple of years on a "mission" in France - converting people to Mormonism. France has always been expensive, you know...

What illegal wouldn't vote for McAmnesty
Posted by: | January 30, 2008 at 03:12 PM
if i were a cuban, or any other hispanic besides mexican that had to work hard to get to this country, there is no way in heck i would support McAmnesty, who wants to give all illegal mexicans a free pass into the country, without paying any back taxes, or following the law to get here.
Posted by: | January 30, 2008 at 03:16 PM
McAmnesty or McLiberal while both are fitting, i think McAmnesty has a better ring to it. Go take down our borders McAmnesty and let everyone and their mother from mexico take over this country!

Amnesty means without penalty. McCain's bill provided for penalties. Therefore you fools who keep talking about amnesty are jshowing us all ... ignorance.
And take your cue from the post at 2:47

The Cuban community know a fraud when they see one, which is why they rejected Willard Mitt Romney. Romney has been on both sides of every issue over the last 16 years. He also used a pro-Castro quote while visiting Miami last year.
