Wexler: FL Democratic prez votes don't matter

UPDATE: Rep. Wexler's office let us know that it considers the headline on this post unfair as he never used the phrase "don't matter." It seemed to us a fair summary of Wexler's comments, but you can judge for yourself.

Robert_wexler_ap U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler, D-Palm Beach liberals who vote for Pat Buchanan, knows a thing or two about demanding that Florida voters not be disenfranchised.  So on a Barack Obama conference call a few minutes ago, we asked what he thought of the Obama campaign memo this week declaring that Florida's Democratic primary is a meaningless exercise.

"Do I wish it were different? Sure I do,'' said Wexler, who trashed the DNC's decision to strip away all Florida delegates. "(But) the facts are the facts and both the Obama campaign and the Clinton campaign have stated at this point this is a contest for delegates...There will be no delegates chosen in Florida."

The purpose of the conference call with Wexler and the regally named U.S. Rep. Adam Smith, D-Washington, was to bash Hillary for bashing Obama for having said something vaguely kind about Ronald Reagan. Said Wexler: "This goes to the essence of why I support Barack Obama. What Sen. Obama is arguing for is that in order to unite the country behind a Democratic agenda, we need to increase the size of the tent of the Democratic party.... What Sen. Obama is creating are Obama Republicans and Obama independents."

NO Republican would EVER vote for a black Muslim...at least not any serving in the military. Take it from a soldier. Wexler, your an idiot.

nice work, St. Pete Times. Twisting words so you can make a point. REPORT THE NEWS, NOT MAKE IT UP!!!!

what is incorrect about what Wexler said? Conversely why aren't you jumping on the point of the call about Clinton intentionally "missing the point" that her husband shrank the Dem party while Reagen expanded the Rs. Remeber 1984?

jeez

545

the military was about 60-40 rs to dems in 04 and is a lot closer now. Thanks for wearing the uniform, but you don't speak for all of us who have served or all of us who are republicans.

and as i am sure you are aware but ignore for your own reasons, Obama is not a Muslim.

The meaningless exercise is trying to make anyone believe that we're not choosing delegates in Florida.

Of course we are.

Even Howard Dean knows that.

Florida is choosing the first of 210 delegates on March 1.

Increase the size of the tent? They already have every kind of freak and nutcase in the party...is there really any room left at the Inn?

Count every vote! count every vote! HAAAAAAA, HA HA HA HA HA HA HA, HAAAAAA, HA HA HA HA HA HA. 6:38 what is about "they will not count" that you don't understand? When the Democrat party says they are not counting votes believe me when I say they are not counting votes not even once. HAAAAAAAAAAA, HA HA HA HA HA HA

how can you say "increase the size of the tent" and "voters don't count" in the same call? This is a perfect example of how D's shoot themselves in the foot even when they are holding all the cards.

can you demand a recount of zero?

Where is the quote in the story where Wexler says Florida Prez votes dont matter? I just see him saying that Florida has no delegates. I thought that was true?

The Florida Democratic primary is nothing but a straw ballot, an opinion survey. Florida delegates don't even have hotel rooms for the convention. By the way, there are no black Muslims running for president this year.

Wexler, you are a LUNATIC. First you try to impeach Bush, which is worthy yet a pipe dream, and now you try and downplay the votes of your own state.

Shame on you, congressman. Hopefully a worthy Democrat takes your seat soon and we can put you back in your place.

Takes a loser politician to endorse another loser politician.

It is a good thing that Obama isn't campaigning here. Look at the false ads he is running in Nevada . . .

http://www.newsweek.com/id/94900

Those boys from Chicago know how to win at any cost.

CNN Exit Polling in Michigan showed that if Barack Obama's name was on the ballot he would have lost by only 11%.

He is going to lose in Florida as well. So, his campaign is doing what ever they can to say our opinions don't count!

I don't need to receive slick direct mail pieces and watch annoying TV ads to know Hillary is the Democrats best candidate.

Bring on the Primary!

9:46... that is so funny--and true!!! LOL!!

The Obama campaign is already saying the "Nevada means no more than Florida"!!!

Oh, pity the poor Obamites. They anticipated multiple Obasms. Now they got momentum interruptus instead.
