CNN promotes Crist's VP stock
Gov. Charlie Crist played cat-and-mouse with CNN Miami reporter John Zarrella on the subject of whether he might be John McCain's VP choice. "Possible McCain running mate," read a banner at the bottom of the screen as Crist took CNN on a walking tour of the mansion grounds -- including the solar-heated swimming pool.
"If you were asked, what would you say?" Zarrella asked Crist. "Well, I've got to continue to work hard as the governor of Florida, and I haven't been asked, so it's really kind of moot at this point." Crist and McCain were shown campaigning at a restaurant and in St. Pete. "If in some small way an endorsement here or there helps him along the way and along his journey, so be it," Crist told CNN.

Short list or short bus?

Charlie Crist has zero chance of being V.P. running mate.
McCain playing it smart by "keeping him on short-list"

Short list or short leash?
Posted by: | February 27, 2008 at 07:11 PM
Wait... Charlie is in Tallahassee? Wow!
But then again.. tour of the solar heated swimming pool...
Hey Chuck... it is going to get in the 20's tonight in Tallahassee - how is that solar heater working?

Oye Vey!

Short stick or short fuse?
Posted by: | February 27, 2008 at 07:22 PM
Why is the SPT pushing Crist for VP? Do you consider it your job to root for the homeboy? Or is it wishful thinking? Do you really think that foisting him off on the nation would be a good idea, or is this your way of boosting Obama's chances? It's all very confusing.
Posted by: | February 27, 2008 at 07:24 PM
Not a chance in h311.
Posted by: | February 27, 2008 at 07:46 PM
The CFO has her filing papers for Gov. in her purse and already making call for fundraising...shameful!
Posted by: | February 27, 2008 at 07:52 PM
Alex Sink hasn't done crap in Tally since being CFO.
No chance as governor
Posted by: | February 27, 2008 at 07:58 PM
Maybe the media is covering this because it could be great for Florida if their Governor became the VP. Duh!
Posted by: | February 27, 2008 at 08:08 PM
Did it do that much for Florida when Jeb's brother was elected President? And were you rooting then?
Posted by: | February 27, 2008 at 08:12 PM
The liberal media promotes a weak Republican ticket.
Posted by: | February 27, 2008 at 08:14 PM
Alex Sink has done a lot. She twangily swears like alvin the chipmunk truck driver and has teamed up with Marco Rubio to raise rates on property insurance rates.
Problem solved!

Dumb people like Charlie Crist because he makes Dan Quayle look like Albert Einstein
Posted by: | February 27, 2008 at 08:39 PM
The more I see the Guv in action, the less afraid of Kottkamp I am. Get him out of here, take him to DC.
Posted by: | February 27, 2008 at 08:42 PM
Does anyone really want Charlie to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency? He doesn't do his homework (insurance legislation), makes half baked promises (amendment 1) and cozies up with anyone with a dollar (FP&L, Trump).
Just ask the Seminole firefighters who were laid off today, thanks to Amendment 1. Didn't Charlie say there would be no cuts to Police and Fire?
Posted by: | February 27, 2008 at 08:51 PM
Charlie would deliver Florida. Say what you want about him, but he is a very skilled politician.
Posted by: | February 27, 2008 at 09:21 PM
What, do y'all not think Charlie would do a good job guiding the country through a recession or handling the war? Does the White House have a swimming pool?
Posted by: | February 27, 2008 at 09:25 PM
Gov. Crist as a VP nominee will guarantee a McCain loss.
Posted by: | February 27, 2008 at 09:29 PM
I think Gov. Crist would make a great VP.
Posted by: Black Widow | February 27, 2008 at 09:44 PM
VP no way, lets see most of Crist's team has left, George, Kris, Arlene, Jim, Melanie and more. Only a matter of time before Eric leaves. Greer is the only Die hard still singing Charlie's praises and word is he's stressed out due to the way things are run. Even the blind can sometimes see!!. Soon Charlie will be alone.
Posted by: Tipper | February 27, 2008 at 10:12 PM
You people are so lame.
Posted by: | February 27, 2008 at 10:15 PM
Lame, you must be kidding, The facts, Charlie is disliked by almost all of the State Republican Party, most of his original team has left and talk behind backs about how bad it is. Lemeiux is out making money and if not for Greer the State RPOF would turn on Crist in a Min. Im not a Crist basher but people I talk too say it's the worst they have ever seen.
Posted by: Tommy T | February 27, 2008 at 10:28 PM
Uh... Arleene didn't leave she was pushed OUT! So was Kamilah and deservedly so! Melanie is back. In fact, several staffers have come back now that they got rid of Arleene and Kamilah. Those two witches ran off Stephanie, but she got the last laugh. Stephanie came back and took Arleene's job. HA! Take THAT.
Posted by: | February 27, 2008 at 10:30 PM
Tommy,
Can you say 70% approval??? Thought so.
Posted by: | February 27, 2008 at 10:31 PM
"I think Governor Crist would make a great VP", Thank you Chairman Greer, Now PLEASE open your EYES.
Posted by: | February 27, 2008 at 10:31 PM
8:12 It sure did Florida good. Many lobbyist made tons of money. Jeb was not the VP. His brother could not give more to Jeb and Florida because he is his brother. Charlie becomming VP makes things good for Florida.

Is it true that Meredith is trying to push out Anne Marie from the McCain campaign?. God when will people learn that Meredith cant raise a dime on her own and just blames everyone else when the $$ numbers dont make it.
Posted by: Sure Thing | February 27, 2008 at 10:39 PM
McCain doesn't need Crist to deliver Florida. The Democrats will deliver Florida to McCain. Probably already have. When I read Gatordem Gene Smiths exhortation to his fellow Kossacks to "blog Florida blue," I saw red.

It's a moo point... "yeh, it's like a cow's opinion, it doesn't matter, it's moo."

Sure Thing = Arleene. You know Meredith can't stand you and you know she had your as* kicked out. So, you are nothing but sour grapes.

Reagan/Bush twice. Bush 1. Clinton twice. Bush/Cheney twice.
Our nation has suffered enough stagflation, trickle dumb economics, voodoo patriot warmongering, Iran/Contra treasons, Iraq war machine profiteering.
For the sake of our nation -- keep Copperton Charlie FAR AWAY from White House. We don't need 4 more years of being BUSHED.
Posted by: | February 27, 2008 at 11:22 PM
crist can't deliver florida. that's a pundit's myth. VPs dont deliver anything but attacks and/or problems. love to see how crist fares with black voters in 2010 after spending 2008 attacking the eventual first african american president.
Posted by: | February 28, 2008 at 12:55 AM
Popular Charlie is not qualified.
Posted by: | February 28, 2008 at 02:35 AM
Popular Obama is not qualified but that doesn't stop him.
Posted by: | February 28, 2008 at 06:28 AM
2:35 and 6:26 - my point earlier - how can the electorate be so gullible to give such high marks to people who don't put forth any plan... just catchy sound bites...
As someone who is attacked by the 70% crowd saying that I am crazy - well then, I guess I am crazy because I follow what politicians do and expect them to have a plan or be able to set a direction... I may not agree with the position, and may attack that position, but I can also, in most circumstances, understand where they are coming from... and regardless of the position, I have respect for those politicians.
Posted by: | February 28, 2008 at 06:50 AM
12:55 - while I hope that McCain will pick Charlie, McCain's team must be vetting potentials and they are saying to themselves, no way, no how... in all reality, Charlie would most likely hurt his ticket in more areas than he can help, and if they are worried about Florida, Charlie probably can better deliver Florida as Governor, instead of VP...
Posted by: | February 28, 2008 at 06:53 AM
Charlie Crist is a vanilla copy of Barack Obama. All form, no substance -and the self annointed media suits love both for what they say rather than what they do. However, we are now in the age of the virtual media and fads grow old fast. Wednesday American Idol is forgotten tomorrow. Charlie Crist is like a mime who appears to be walking, but does not move and does not leave any footprints. It is like an Obama speech. Sounded great, but now, what did he say? Unfortunately the glib politician is like a glib preacher. You die before you realize that it was all a bunch of crap.
Posted by: | February 28, 2008 at 07:36 AM
Are there really enough Log Cabin Republicans to deliver the votes if Crist is VP?
Posted by: | February 28, 2008 at 07:38 AM
12:55 and 6:53...are you kidding....Crist has been elected statewide three times in the last 7 years...he has a 70% approval rating, pulled Amendment 1 across the finish line...and most certainly can and will deliver Florida. Without Florida, John McCain has zero chance of being President. Crist has other attributes as well...he is a great campaigner...raises a ton of money, and can help win the independent vote (and even some crossover D's) which is critical in a General Election. As far as qualifications...you will find few on the short lists being compiled who have been State Senator, Secretary of Education, Attorney General AND Governor.that is one heck of a resume and make Crist a leading contender for McCain's running mate. If you look at the different names being discussed...and you factor in McCain's personality (he will pick who HE wants and won't be pushed into someone he doesn't like) it is fairly obvious that Crist is on of three people who have the best shot...the Governor's of Minnesota and South Carolina are the other strong contenders....

Greer wants Crist to be VP so that Greer can visit him in DC and check out some new strip clubs.
Posted by: | February 28, 2008 at 07:41 AM
What has Dick Cheney done for Wyoming? Puhleez. Or did he deliver the caribou vote? Isn't he better known for what he did for Halliburton?
Posted by: | February 28, 2008 at 07:45 AM
7:36 you couldn't be more wrong...did you know that since Crist took office taxes have been cut more in one year...than in all 8 years of Jeb's reign as Governor....? That's not a "mime who appears to be walking"..it is a Governor walking softly and carrying a big stick. He has lead on some big issues that you may not like (particularly environmental issues) but has done so skillfully and accomplished a considerable amount in a very short period of time. Being Governor isn't about who can pass the most bills, or please the most people...it is about leading...and as far as I can see Crist is doing just that.
Posted by: | February 28, 2008 at 07:46 AM
Dick Cheney represented Wyoming with distinction for many years...I can assure you that any time Wyoming has needed something from the Federal Government in the last 7 years...they got it....the same would be true for a VP Crist, who would also...by the way...immediately be the leading candidate to be the next President of the USA after McCain....assuming of course (and it is a big assumption) that the Republicans keep the White House this year...
Posted by: | February 28, 2008 at 07:49 AM
7:49 - That is a scary thought! So much so that you've scared me off--time to get ready for work.
Posted by: | February 28, 2008 at 07:53 AM
I think Christ should stay in Florida. I would much rather have him here. I like a lot of things he is trying to do here. Please stay
Posted by: John | February 28, 2008 at 08:23 AM
8:23: I'm tired of seeing Crist staffers on here fooling around wasting the taxpayers dollars.
Crist is going to get vetted and then his chances are over. Kudos to McCain for playing Charlie to get hte endorsement.
Posted by: | February 28, 2008 at 08:32 AM
"Well, I've got to continue to work hard as the governor of Florida…”
Buahahahahahaaaaa… whoooooo, that’s rich Chuck!… hahahahahahaaaaaaaa… you can’t even find the place… hahahahahahaaaaa… “CONTINUE” to work hard… hahahahahahaaaaa… yeah, try your best, Chuck, to keep up with yourself will ya… hahahahahaaaaaaa… whooooo, that’s hoot… hahaaaaa
Posted by: | February 28, 2008 at 08:35 AM
to 7:40 am - you are right. McCain will pick who HE wants. Which means that more than likely, the person he is considering isn't any of the ones being shoved down our throats by the media. He's not a puppet and he probably knows what he needs to do in order to pull out the win. Charlie isn't it. Nobody outside of Florida gives a rats butt about Mr. Coppertone.
