Jeb Bush endorses McCain
Jeb Bush today endorsed John McCain for president, calling him a "patriot and devoted conservative leader."
See news release in jump.
ARLINGTON, VA -- U.S. Senator John McCain's presidential campaign today announced that former Florida Governor Jeb Bush has endorsed John McCain for president.
"John McCain is a patriot and devoted conservative leader," said Governor Bush. "Like no other candidate in the field, John McCain has made tremendous sacrifices for this nation. He is beholden to no interest other than that of the public good. He is determined and steadfast in his commitment to reducing the burden of high taxes, restoring the people's trust in their government, and winning the war against radical Islamic extremists. It is with pride that I announce my endorsement of John McCain for president."
John McCain thanked Governor Bush, saying, "I am very proud to have Jeb Bush's support. He has a distinguished record of conservative leadership and I admire his dedicated service to the people of Florida. He makes a great addition to our growing team of Republican leaders."

yeah, Jebby was a HUGE fan of McCain/Feingold.

whatever, McAmnesty is the worst thing that could happen to America and the Republicans. i hate all these bandwagoner republicans jumping on the mccain ship just because its got the most steam....RIGHT NOW. Huckabee is the only option for a true conservatice. and if you call yourself a conservative and support john mccain, you're ignorant. the man is more of a liberal than Hillary.

So over the past year Charlie seems to be going in the opposite direction of Jebs policies and decisions, does that mean that he is going to endorse another candidate?
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 02:57 PM
"Jeb Bush endorses McCain"
Who is Jib Buch and whay does it matter?
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 02:57 PM
So, is Cristi going to take back his endorsement of McCain and back Obama? I mean, the only reason he endorsed McCain in the first place is because Jeb endorsed Romney.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 02:58 PM
if Jeb's last name was anything other than Bush, he'd be McCain's running mate already...
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 03:00 PM
McAmnesty will blow a nut by the middle of June, and everyone will see the REAL lil’ Johnny Napoleon… the whole country will run like hell in the other direction.
Let me by the first to congratulate you; President Obama and Vice President Clinton!
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 03:00 PM
How in the hell would someone from the Bush family know what a true conservative was?
Posted by: Chris | February 11, 2008 at 03:02 PM
President McAmnesty = this country will no longer belong to Americans.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 03:06 PM
3:00: Are you and the guy who posts the same message about property taxes over and over again the same person? You must be. Come up with something original. You must have more than 2 posts' worth of material in your mind?!
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 03:07 PM
There only needs to be one design for a stop sign to work.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 03:09 PM
3:07: McCain only has two posts worth of material in his mind 1: grant amnetsy to all from the south of us. 2, tell americans i wont raise taxes, but really im going to have to raise taxes to pay for education and health care for all of my friends from the south that i grant amnesty to.

3:00 p.m.
If Jeb's last name was different, McCain woudn't be the nominee.
HELLO!
BUT John MCCain being described here as a
"devoted conservative leader;" that's a stretch!
So pliable in fact it reminds me of that old toy S-T-R-E-T-C-H Armstrong.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 03:14 PM
Frankly, if Jeb's last name wasn't Bush he probably wouldn't ever have been Governor, either.
So it cuts both ways.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 03:35 PM
I'd rather vote for another person named Bush, or Clinton for that matter than someone named McAmnesty.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 03:37 PM
Jeb was a great governor irrespective & his last name happened to be Bush.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 03:38 PM
Jeb Bush knows John McCain is a true conservative and will govern that way. He also knows much more about how dangerous the world is than most pols and realizes John McCain is the only candidate on either side that can keep us safe! I'm with Jeb on this one!
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 03:40 PM
This would have been a meaningful endorsement - a month ago. As it is, this means nothing. It's just part of the process of the part faithful paying homage to the new standard bearer.
And it's not a good start if Jeb wants to make himself nationally relevant ahead of a run for the presidency in four years.
Posted by: Campaign Manager | February 11, 2008 at 03:40 PM
Jeb and his political operatives were supporting Romney all the way.
Jeb came out one day after Romney aborted his campaign.
Jeb, just go away!
Ps And no you'll never be remembered as the education Governor!!

3:00 and 3:46: Did you really have to post the same canned response in the same blog? Maybe you were going to put your property tax post, but you cut and paste the wrong one?!
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 03:48 PM
3:40, you must be a true conservative to think McAmnesty is the right choice....JUST KIDDING!!!!
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 03:49 PM
Out of 300,000,000 people in this country the only people we can come up for president are McAmnesty, Huckleberry, Shrillary and Osama? Fuuny.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 03:50 PM
We only need one... and that "one" is President Obama!
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 03:53 PM
“Charlie Crist endorses McCain” & “Jeb Bush endorses McCain”
Well then… I’m sold!

4:03, we all know you're John McCain. sorry the true conservatives are hurting your feelings by pointing out that you are really a democrat with a GOP nametag.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 04:10 PM
3:06 what is an American?
my ancestors arrived here illegally too...into Boston in 1619. There was no inprocessing, no citizenship tests, fees paid, or anything.
They just got off the boat, set-up shop, killed a few injuns in their way, and the rest as they say is history.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 04:10 PM
Remember the Alamo...denizens were illegal American squatters
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 04:12 PM
Well then you should be sent back!! :)
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 04:13 PM
4:10: Your ancestors didn't arrive illegally. The Pilgrims received a charter from the King. Get your facts straight!
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 04:15 PM
4:10, you are a moron. first of all in 1619 this was not the United States of America.
secondly, i consider an American someone who works, pays taxes, abides the law, has a social security number, salutes the flag, and yes, call me rude or whatever else, but someone who speaks english.
illegals, while some may work hard thousands of others are in gangs and committing violent crimes. they do not have social security numbers, and the biggest problem of all is that as a group they are welfare recipients because they dont pay taxes yet they benefit from our hospitals and schools. its not fair that a lower middle class family cant afford medicines and treatment because they make to much to qualify for assitance, but make to little to pay for it. yet illegals can get whatever they need from an ER for free. well actually not free, on the tax payers dime. dispicable. lets take care of our own before we open the gates and take care of the rest of their!

speaking of the fattie:
what has become of his spawn, george p., last heard of joining the u.s. navy to become a super spy or some stuff -- all in the same intensive, all-incluseive 6-months his besotted uncle g.w used to avoid fighting in a REAL WAR in the '60's?
i think the best (?) of the family kinda ran out about georgeherbertweasel's time.
the rest have been prime examples of "three generations from shirtsleeves to shirtsleeves"!
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 04:17 PM
His ancestors were monkeys and they didn't have their rabies shots.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 04:18 PM
not to put too fine a point on it for 4.10 and 4.15, 4.17, but there were french, spanish and portugese in the new world and french and spanish, at least, not to mention the dutch before the "pilgrims" arrived.

To all of you morons ranting about the defunct immigration bill and McCain's sensible immigration proposal,
First, it is logistically impossible to deport all of the illegal immigrants.
Second, even if it were possible, estimates show that it will cost close to a trillion dollars, about the cost of the Iraq war.
Third, if we do so prices for many goods and services from food to leisure activities will increase and offset any potential wage increases that might accrue to those who replace them. That is, although you might get paid more for that job, your cost of living will also increase.
Fourth, studies show that although illegal immigrants might receive social benefits to which they shouldn't be entitled, they have a net positive impact on our economy because their children grow up, get an education, pay taxes and make up for the cost of their parents.
Fifth, if you can't beat out an illegal immigrant for a job despite the fact that they can't speak English, you've got bigger problems. Survivial of the fittest. The federal government should subsidize your stupidity.
All of this nonsense is a function of racism and fear. Fear that those illegal immigrants might be like the Cubans who, in just two generations, are not only more educated than our Anglo-American counterparts but also earn greater salaries on average.

4:15 on what legal authority did the King of England have grounds to grant land title or charter to his subjects in lands that were not in his domain?
Massachusetts Bay may have been claimed in his name, but he did not purchase it nor were his ancestors the first to arrive on it.
ergo, the Pilgrims were illegal immigrants...

where is zenator on all this? I'd like to hear his thoughts on the behind-the-scenes meaning of this endorsement. He's almost always right.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 05:27 PM
Thank you JEB!
The GOP is primed for victory and governance this year. McCain is forging a new style of leadership that will ensure a conservative governing future. We need not be afraid to expand our great Republican coalition. Senator McCain and his top allies are exactly what our party and our nation needs. We truely are building a foundation for victory! Our party has never been stronger. The party of Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, and Ronald Reagan is poised to lead this great nation into a strong and prosperous future.

I find it ironic that not one brave soul posting here has a name. All anonymous. You must not be too proud of yourselves or your position. BTW I am a democrat and my name is posted.

This is very disappointing news. I thought better of Jeb.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 11:17 PM
11:17....unlike the short-sighted Republicans who continue to complain that McCain isn't conservative enough, Jeb is smart enough to understand that McCain is all that stands between Clinton and/or Obama and the White House. The stakes are simply too high to continue these stupid, pointless attacks on McCain...he is the nominee people...get with the program or prepare to have the most ill-prepared President in the history of our country.

think anyone would pay attention to johnnie with fattie looming in the wings?
second, i truly believe that maybe george p's children might, just might, stand a chance of success running for a national office with the last name of "relatedtothelyingdrydrunkBUSH".

"...most ill-prepared President in the history of our country."
guess being a drunken, barely "C" student, screwing up THREE "awl bidnesses" with poppy's pals' money -- and one brush with the SEC regulations -- running a miserable baseball team, and one and a half terms as gobernator of texas -- which is about a 20-hour-a-week job -- prepared the drunk?
guess president of harvard law review, successful community orgainzer, able to speak ENGLISH as a first language and NOT A LYINGDRUNK, are negatives?
sure thing,11.23!!
Posted by: | February 12, 2008 at 10:05 AM
""Let me by the first to congratulate you; President Obama and Vice President Clinton!"" Not likely.
If Obama get nominated, there will be a rerun of the 1972 election, when the Democrats for Nixon took the election away from McGovern. The American voter is not going to elect Obama to be the next President. What you don't seem to understand is that Idaho has no Democrats. ;-) That sheeple rarely vote in November and that Clinton is really the only candidate left that can fight McCain, Newt, and Rove. If you really think that Obama is going to beat the Pentagon with some fancy oration, vote for him. I suspect a vote of Obama is a vote for McCain so you may as well join the republicans. ;-)
