Greer is really doing what a state Chairman should be doing, clearing the field to WIN , Good Job Chairman
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 11:58 AM
This is a pretty impressive development.
I don't know how they pulled this one off but it surely just sealed the deal for November in this district.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 11:59 AM
Let me guess... Mayfield now gets Posey's seat ? si
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 12:01 PM
Did Greer broker this ? If so I too must say Good Job. Now let's keep this up and we might win some more seats.
Posted by: Tipper | February 11, 2008 at 12:01 PM
Posey has always been a good soldier for the Republican Party - he represents the Party well - humm, wasn't he elected to represent his constituents? Oh well, as long as the Party is happy!!!
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 12:05 PM
Thank you Governor Crist for getting the Party a Chairman who has some Ba.ls and a clue of what his job is! , With Greer we might just win in Nov and hold onto our Cong Seats.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 12:06 PM
I thought staffers had today off?
GET BACK TO WORK STEALING MY TAXES!
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 12:09 PM
party staff, you have now wasted 8 minutes of your lunch hour.
this is absurd. when did rpof become the broker of quasi-communist activity? i guess the people in FL-15 really don't get a choice, they get jim's friends.
NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION!!
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 12:10 PM
Posey = smarts + common sense + responsibility. That's what I'm looking for. Go Bill!
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 12:11 PM
For whatever the back and forth may become, this was a pretty big day for Jim Greer, coalescing a bunch of politicians around one candidate to avoid a primary and essentially guarantee a general election win, that takes work and leadership. He had a good day today.

SATFFERS... GET BACK TO WORK STEALING MY TAXES!
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 12:15 PM
“He had a good day today.”
That’s what my grandma says about my grandpa every once and a while. Then he eats his napkin and claims that the guy in the next bed is Harry Truman.

I'm new to these blogs, but I think I'm starting to pick up the vocabulary.
"Special interests" means any interest other than mine.
"Staffers" means anyone who posts opinions different than mine.
I look forward to learning more.

Posey told people that RPOF Chairman Greer brokered the whole thing, Even Mayfield was happy, Nice Job Mr Greer
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 12:24 PM
Well then, let me help you...
"I think I'm starting to pick up the
vocabulary."
... means I'm a staffer who only took a 22-minute lunch today.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 12:24 PM
This cat has “public bathroom scandal” written all over that awkward smile.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 12:28 PM
Actually, I didn't disagree with anyone in my post, which, as I understand the lingo, doesn't mean I am a "Staffer." But then again I'm new and look forward to learning more from the holders of all knowledge here at the Buzz.

What's really great about this place is that you can invent and print the wildest, most idiotic things about someone you can imagine and be completely safe from libel suits because no one knows who you are.
Stay tuned. You're going to learn a lot.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 12:36 PM
12:28 - I would be careful what you say about a Senator you clearly know nothing about.
Posey is one of the Legislature's most honorable and upstanding members and that is why the RPOF is backing him in the CD 15 race.

If one wanted to persue a charge of libel, your IP address is all that is needed for identification.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 01:07 PM
Thanks 1:07. Isn't that a nice reminder some folks should think about?
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 01:12 PM
If one wanted to expose the “intentional” misuse/abuse of the Patriot Act, one might coerce a media outlet to give up an IP address in a veiled attempt to censor the First Amendment and/or ones opinion based on current and recent events, given a specific proclivity of a particular less-than-stellar behavior of a particular party’s representatives… or … one could speculate that the aforementioned actions are in fact a public attempt at blackmail or even extortion in an effort to stymie one of the very Democratic ideologies that make our county the great nation it is, for which many young American men and women are sacrificing their lives to uphold, defend, and protect.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 01:24 PM
I think someone else at RPOF brokered the deal and Greer just signed the document!
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 01:37 PM
Thanks 1:24. Isn't THAT a nice reminder some folks should think about?
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 01:49 PM
So, the RPOF has just disenfranchised the Republican Voters in CD-15 the opportunity to make a choice of "WHO" they think will best represent the district?
That's not the Republican Party I registered with some 20 years ago.
Sad.

12:28- Watch what you say about a legislator is widely respected in Tallahassee. Also it is clear you know nothing about the man by your comments.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 01:52 PM
01:37pm, to bad you have no idea what is the real story, Greer did the whole thing, nobody does anything without Greer's ok. But good job to all.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 01:53 PM
153 - Were you there? I am sure that a lot of stuff goes on without his knowledge until it comes out.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 02:10 PM
"12:28- Watch what you say about a legislator is widely respected in Tallahassee."
Yeah... or he just might pass on fixing the homeowners insurance problem, like he promised... oh, never mind. Well, he just might... might... might... ummm... might... hire some more staffers to monitor the blogs and threaten people who engage in free speech… instead of actually doing some work... so there... :-)~
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 02:11 PM
I just wish we had a better candidate. Posey is past his time and a political hack for insurance companies. Rep. Bill Posey is NOT well respected by all, that's for sure!
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 02:14 PM

Or maybe people shouldn't use the first amendment and black helicopter theories as a shield to invent stories and slander someone just for their own sick amusement in blogs like this.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 02:17 PM
1:24,
Keep you day job, since you know nothing of libel law. It has nothing to do with the Patriot Act, or censorship, or blackmail, or extortion. Here's the Wikipedia definition:
"In law, defamation (also called vilification, slander, and libel) is the communication of a statement that makes a false claim, expressively stated or implied to be factual, that may harm the reputation of an individual, business, product, group, government or nation. Most jurisdictions allow legal actions, civil and/or criminal, to deter various kinds of defamation and retaliate against groundless criticism."
Elected officials have to endure a lot more of such libel, according to NY Times v. Sullivan, but its still lousy politics.

From The Politico ..., via TalkingPoiontsMemo, 2/8/08
FBI investigating R's congressional campaign comittee!!
"Rep. Mike Conaway (R-Texas), a certified public accountant, had pushed for months for an internal audit of the National Republican Congressional Committee, according to GOP members, but the committee’s treasurer at the time was reluctant.
Finally, at a recent meeting, the now former NRCC treasurer, Christopher J. Ward, relented, giving Conaway what was supposed to be an official internal audit from 2006. That document was a fake, the GOP members said. Even the letterhead on which it was sent was a forgery.
[R's even too stupid to think they could get away with forged documents!]
Revelations about the falsified document touched off an unfolding scandal that has rocked the NRCC and spurred a criminal investigation by the FBI into the committee’s accounting procedures.
Fearing the fallout from the discovery, the NRCC informed its principle lender, Wachovia, of potential accounting problems. Wachovia, which declined comment Thursday, had lent the committee $9 million in 2006, according to Federal Election Commission records.
Knowing the bank was required by law to notify federal investigators of any “suspicious activity,” the NRCC also alerted the FBI, Republican insiders confirmed.
At the same time, NRCC officials notified the FEC that the committee may have filed inaccurate disclosure statements."
what?
CROOKED R's'?
wanna guess at how many rpofl's skumbuckets are elbow-deep in this mess?
"ALL OF THEM," you say?
can you visualize a long line of R's marching off to jail for all sorts of criminal activities?
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 02:42 PM
Oh for crying out loud -- back to Posey.
He would do a great job in Washington.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 02:50 PM
2:17,
Or, maybe staffers should stay off the blogs if they’re going to over-react and misrepresent a completely obscure comment, given the context.
… And thank you 2:27… for confirming that the “completely obscure comment” was in fact that… and not “vilification, slander, and libel” in any way… with the minuscule probability that you might be a feline.
Now… you can get back to your day job. I'm guessing it's NOT law.

How many threads are you going to post that on?
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 02:55 PM
Greer should do the same in CD-16. It's going to be a tough year for Republicans. Bloody primaries aren't helping anyone.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 03:58 PM
oopps, there goes another lemming off the cliff!
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 04:10 PM
It really is sad that some here can't accept there are lots of people who think Crist and others are doing a great job and who are not "staffers."
Posey will be missed in the legislature; he speaks his mind, doesn't get intimidated, and doesn't just bleat ideological cliches.
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 05:35 PM
From what I understand the deal is Posey is going to be in for 2 terms and then will back Mayfield to run for the seat, with Haridopolos making sure to draw his own seat (providing he is the Senate President) and also with Haridopolos making sure that Mayfield stays in the District!
Greer was just there as window dressing!!!!!!
Posted by: | February 11, 2008 at 09:29 PM
Rumor is that Greer promised Mayfield the party's backing for ag commissioner in 2010.
