A green light for wildlife appointees
Gov. Charlie Crist's four new appointees to the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission won unanimous support from a Senate committee Thursday. The four faced a few questions about their commitment to preserving clean air and water and public access to conservation lands, but that was about it. "I think we're in good hands," said the panel's chairman, Sen. Burt Saunders, R-Naples.
The four (left to right) are Ken Wright, an Orlando development attorney; Broward County construction executive Dwight Stephenson, a former Miami Dolphins player; Kathy Barco, an executive of a Jacksonville road-building company; and Broward County developer Ron Bergeron. Some environmentalists were highly critical when Crist made three of the four appointments (all but Stephenson) last summer; you can read more about that here.

Great, a bunch of developers! Another blow for Florida's environment.

Doesn't look like Ron did a very good job protecting the life of the animal he is wearing in above photo.

7:33 - you should see his manatee skin boots...

Ron Bergeron is the single greatest sign that Florida is still a southern state.

I was going to say, Bergeron "some environmentalist".
The guy about single handedly has paved over Broward County.
Charlie isn't much different than Jeb in pandering to the wealthy corporate "pave over every inch of green space" multi-millionaire developers such as this group.
Is it any wonder Florida government is a cesspool of graft and corruption?
Can you say "sell-out"?

The foxes are still in charge of the henhouse.

What a great bunch to have overlooking Floridas fish and wildlife. A developer, a road construction exec, a construction exec. and a development attorney. Jeez I thought Jeb was gone. Thank goodness for the republicans, without them we might actually have some land without asphalt around us.

These appointees have to get some return on the thousands of dollars they have "invested" with the Republican Party of Florida.

Ron goes both ways:

so which party was responsible for the massive growth and development of Florida in the 1950's? 1960's? 1980's?

Question: What is a wildlife habitat???
Answer: An unpaved parking lot.
Look out Bambi!!!

7:45 Amazing that you GOPers still try to make claims like that. I guess in your own mind such fantasies can exist. How's the "Environemental President" doing these days? Is he still sharing office space with the "Education President" and the "Compassionate Conservative"?

Talk about delusional---who are your local representatives that approve development in your area? Are they all Republicans? Do you mean to tell me that there are absolutely no Dems. making decisions anywhere in the state?
Now, as far as these appointees go, I don't know them, but from what I know of developers, (no matter their political preference), they are not the best stewards of our planet.
Once again, very poor choice of appointees.

This just in - The new Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission responds to the Tripp Isenhour incident:
"How many shots did it take that guy to knock down that hawk? - my little sister could do better! I move that we spend some taxpayer money to get this guy some lessons. And a little "hard time" community service paving over the gopher turtles on my East Hillsborough development property outta teach him not to miss next time."

sick of deluded GOP -in typical liberal fashion - fails to answer an question with a coherent answer, and instead resorts to insults and "he does it too" kindergarten nonsense
So, I will ask again.
Which party in power in Florida was responsible for the massive growth and development of the state in the 1950's? 1960's? 1980's?

10:09 I assume the answer you want is "It was the DEMs!" OK, so the old boys Southern Democrats were not a nice bunch. Mea Culpa - (even though I was a Republican, up until Mr. Enviro-Fiend INC was elected and appointed Mr Sellit and Paveit Watt) What's your point? Anyone with a modicrum of discretion can see that IN OUR CURRENT SITUATION, it's the state GOP who have their noses firmly lodged in the rear ends of the deveopers who are destroying our state, and they are making the rules. Locals of both persuasions, as always, are a mixed bag, but my vote, in my district, against a bad one carries a lot more weight than voting against one in a statewide election. Developers much prefer the one-stop shopping where all the power is in Tallahassee.
