Can Clinton win?
Kirk Wagar, Obama's Florida finance chairman, doubts the race will continue until the August convention because Democrats won't tolerate Clinton supporters ripping apart the likely nominee. "The only way this goes all the way to the convention is if 250 superdelegates from June 3 all the way to Aug. 25 don't say anything,'' Wagar said. "There's going to come a point where the math is so oppressive, and the remaining superdelegates demand it's over. She has a fine line she has to walk, because every time she goes on attack she is proving Barack Obama's thesis that it's time for a new kind of politics."
"The charge to the superdelegates at the convention is to nominate the person who will win in November. The votes in 40 states took place before certain events unfolded in the last month,'' said Ira Leesfield, a top Clinton fundraiser in Miami. "Look at some of the revelations about his judgment with Rezko and with Rev. Wright, his judgment not to leave a church that gave the man of the year award to Louis Farrakhan."
Story here.

Bottom line:
If the Democrats really want to win?
Hillary needs to be the candidate
If the Democrats really want to loose?
Obama needs to be the candidate
Like the Rolling Stones said:
Sometimes you can't get what you want
but you get what you need
We need Senator Clinton.
We don' t need a Democrat who is not experienced, a candidate that does not want two states to a part of the process and most importantly one who stands by his man...who is a racist and antisemetic.

BAHAHAHA 8:22
you're kidding me, right?! McCain destroys Clinton in every poll. If there's one thing we know about Hillary, is she is so disliked by so many, she gets crushed in November.
Democrats know this.
And Clinton keeps hyping the math. She lost the nomination a month ago.

"The votes in 40 states took place before certain events unfolded in the last month"
Too bad, Ira. The voting is over there. No re-dos. Typical Clinton trash. Cheat and do anything to win.
Clinton lost months ago. Do the math, then send her home.

By the time the Repugs get done with Obambi we will long for the days of strong leaders like John Kerry and Al Gore.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 08:54 AM
While you sit in church today reflecting on our risen Lord and Savior, think about Obambi sitting in his church for 20 years listening to his racist pastor spew hate week after week. Wouldn't you leave after one week of that trash? Why didn't he?
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 08:56 AM
We need more Christian Coalition Republican lawmakers like Rep Bob Allen and Sen Larry Craig who sat quietly in church agreeing with the sermons and then went to have sex with other men in public bathrooms.

Valid points. However, neither of those two were running for President on a campaign based on being a political breath of fresh air who is above race and for unity while at the same time he's sitting in a church that preaches Marxist, racist, Black Liberation Theology propoganda.
So why didn't he leave this church? Two options:
1. Oprah left Trinity UCC and got hammered by the surrounding black community. Maybe Obama was too scared of the same backlash before he ran for the US Senate. Did he take a political gamble to not have his real political aspirations dashed before they began?
2. He sat there because he really believes what they preach.
So, he's either a cowardly career politician like all the others who will do and say whatever it takes to get elected or he really believes this theology of anti-white, anti-US government, black power rhetoric. Either way, he's got major credibility issues on two of his key campaign platforms.
However, what is particularly entertaining is that the deeper you dig on this guy the better it gets. The likelyhood that this guy will be further exposed is pretty high and the Democrats are just staring to realize they have already nominated an unelectable candidate to top their ticket. Added to that is that the only way to avoid running this racist is to have the superdelegates pull the rug out from Obama for an equally disliked **tch and in the process split the party in a way that it may never be able to fully recover.
For this Republican who had thought all hope was lost 2 weeks ago, it is entertaining to say the least.

The reality is that neither Barack or Hillary will garner enough delegates in the primary process to secure the nomination. Hence, the nomination will be decided by which candidate gets enough votes of super delegates to get over the top. Getting super delegate votes is all about "old school, bare knuckle" politics, which is where the Clintons shine. Don't count Hillary out yet.
Your lowly zenator suspects that many a pledged Obama super delegate delegate will change his/her mind when, for example, presented by a Clinton operative with a plain envelope containing embarrassing documents and/or photos.

Its amazing how people keep harping on wjhats said in church. Duirng the times of slavery and segreation it was the WHITE CHURCH that advocated the inferiority of blacks. It was white pastors that lead many of the rallys that killed innocent blacks with cross burnings and lynchings. The crusades in the 14th century was the christian white church, torturing people for confessions and committing genocide aginst the jews.....the white church has been complicit in the biggest attrocities and evil in world history against humanity. Learn your history!!

Zebantor, I think there are many a envelopes that can be distributed reminding people about the gal that suck Bill Clintons c*&%$k in the white house and photos of the c&%$#m stained blue dress and reminding people how a Clinton soiled the oval office. The reality is if this thing goes ugly and becomes a war of envelopes, Clinton will be on the short end, there is too much dirt on her that if people are reminded of and the media focusses on, she would be done. I can see the endless news cycles with new revelations on Mionica Lewinsky that never came out and yes you can believe it there is lots more that the public doesnt know onthat one issue alone.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 01:08 PM
The one thing about the Clintons that I think will show us what will eventually happen is this. The people that know them dont like them. It says alot when Bill Richardson a long time Clinton ally endorses Obama. When Gore was running for president one of the news strings was the dislike between the Gores and the Clintons, former high ranking Clinton staffters like Dick Morris are devout Clinton haters.

Agreed, but you're basically saying that we should accept hate filled rhetoric because it hsa happened in the past? Typically, in today's politics people who believe that way don't get elected because they are radioactive politically...except, I guess, for Robert Byrd...wait isn't he a democrat too? Anyways...if I was his supporter, I would be offended he has the arrogance to talk down to you about what you believe is right and wrong to listen to and find acceptable in your own lives while at the same time he doesn't have the stones to do so in his own life.
The point of it all is that the mere fact that 9:43 and you can make a pretty reasonable comparison between both the Republican's biggest shames and the attrocious actions of misguided bigots with the current Democratic front runner for the parties Presidential nomination says it all for me.
The GOP hasn't even started reminding people about some of Obama's other questionable ties and the fact he is one of the most liberal members of the US Senate and he's already has major troubles.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 01:22 PM
I don't think the Republicans are going to have to 'dig' very much. I think the Clinton camp will do plenty of that.
In the meantime, Obama is getting tons of free press out of this.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 01:33 PM
9:43 - not only that (sitting, listening, not hearing the racist rants) but he had his children sitting there and hearing that stuff too.
British statesman Edmund Burke said, "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil in America is for good men to do nothing."
For 20 years Obama has done nothing - just like he does nothing in the Senate but vote "present" when the topic is controversial.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 02:35 PM
Nice to see all of these Republicans apologizing in advance for the swiftboating they plan to do. Let's forget about Obama and Clinton for just a momnet while I remaind you that your conservative policies are a complete and total failure, and your style of politics is just another name for lying. Regardless of whether it's Obama or Clinton, one of the two needs to win and then maybe we can pull this country out of the global misery you GOP have caused. Maybe.

2:35 Don't worry, when the Dems have the upper hand in our government, I believe you'll see a lot good men and women doing something.
Posted by: Don't be distracted - we need change! | March 23, 2008 at 02:40 PM
The Republicons are feeding the whole story in an effort to push Hillary to the nomination… and why you ask… because EVERYONE knows that Obama beats McBush. McBush stands a better chance against Hillary.
Now… the way I see it, only two things can happen.
1. Hillary takes a VP position beside Obama, thereby creating the “Dream Team” that all Democrats really want, and the D’s win it in a landslide.
2. The Clinton minions steal it from Obama, push McBush into the White House, and turn millions of Democrats into Independents in one fell swoop.
I’ll take option “1” for the betterment of our future Alex!
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 02:48 PM
Is it any wonder the Republicans are going to swift boat the Democratic candidate?
It is, after all, all they have left.
Once the national dialog returns to the issues they can't possibly win the election based upon the record they have made.
The economy is tanking - not just bad - IT IS TANKING! The war can not EVER be won. The cost of gas, groceries, education, insurance and taxes goes higher and higher. Constitutional freedoms have been eroded because Bush is too unethical to operate within the bounds of American juris prudence.
It will be a Democratic White House.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 03:06 PM
2:40 - yes, sadly we'll see them doing something alright - raising taxes, making nice to terrorists, and avoiding any "difficult" decisions.
As to what they'll be like in office - I remember Bill and I've watched the Democratic House - I wouldn't leave a one of them alone in a room with my handbag or my underage daughter.

As we are finding out there is more to Obama than the image he wants to portray.
The best of us grow as persons the more experienced and thoughtful we become. However with him this does not seem to be the case in a genuine sense. If he cannot in a 20 year period get what the program is with those he asssociates with so closely I hate to think what he would do if confronted with having to make a split second judgment call that affects the safety of this nation.
Regarding his obvious tendancy toward at the very least closet biggotry, he should have come clean on that, denounced this view long ago and taken a Trent Lott style political cold shower before running for President.
He is going to lose, the question is when. The vast majority of Americans have been and are proud of their country not to mention they do not subscribe to the sickening message of this racist Mr. Wright.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 04:12 PM
With the Jerimiah Wright controversy & the recent Obama "...typical white person..." racist remark, Clinton could take chance and go all the way to Denver. What's there to lose for her?
If I were her, I would go for broke.
She should make it seem that make if Obama wins the nomination, her voters will go with John McCain. Obama's camp is making it seem that if Clinton wins the nomination, she cannot win.
Hillary needs to go for broke and rachet it up a notch.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 04:39 PM
Dn't forget te delegates & popular votes from Michigan & Florida?
Hillary could be ahead on popular vote after the Pennsylvania elections.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 04:46 PM
4:46
It doesn't matter. The super delegates will have the final say.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 06:25 PM
If you believe Obama believes the things Rev. Wright or Minister Farakhan believe, then you shouldn't vote for him. I don't think McCain believes like Falwell or Hagee, but if I made the case I'd have about as much validity as many of you writing here.
Hillary, dear, it's over. If our nomination started out by saying it REALLY comes down to NY, CA, TX, OH and PA, then you'd have a point. Magically, every place you've won is the most important primary and every endorsement you've garnered is vital.
But we count delegates. And you can't catch up there.
Supers aren't going to overturn the will of the people.
Your opponent has bested you in a fair fight. Honorable people would fight hard but concede at the appropriate time.
Between now and June 3 is likely that time.
I have nothing mean to say about Hillary or her supporters. We don't base this on polls, otherwise we would have awarded Obama the nomination months ago when he ran well ahead of McCain everywhere. So polls in March don't look much different from polls in late January -- but they are a great conversation piece.
Now let's find out why John McCain had three different opinions of Iran and Al Qaeda in Iraq within 24 hours? This ought to be good.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 06:29 PM
The Rebulican's don't have to "swiftboat" anybody. You guys are doing it to each other just fine. I couldn't agree more that the Democrats should win given the current political, economic and societal cliamte that exists in the good ol US of A.
All you had to do is find an uncontroversial candidate who could complete a sentence properly and stand up straight and it woulodn't even be a contest. Insead, you all get ahead of yourselves and practically nominate a wanna be "rock star" politician who was sitting in a state senate last Presidential election who has no experience, supports a church that believes the "white man" needs to be "overcome by any means nessesary" (quotes by James Cone- founder of Black liberal Theology) and who's church magazine honors Louie Farakan as their "Man of the Year" . And then, your only hope left afer Obama is Hillary Clinton! Priceless. Talk about pulling defeat from the jaws of victory.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 06:39 PM
6:39 If you don't need to swiftboat anyone, what are you up to? Oh, excuse me - I was confused. You're not swiftboating, your using the old GOP echo chamber to make a perfecty decent man look like some kind of radical racist. Get enough heartless brainless political and media hacks to repeat it often enough and it must be true. There's a reason why people are fed up with the political process in this country, and you're it.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 07:53 PM
...or just maybe everything they are saying about Obama is true?
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 08:10 PM
Obama has a great speachwriter and can give a speach, but that doesn't even qualify him to hold the president's jock strap.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 08:21 PM
As an undecided independant it seems to me that Obama's supporters are so certain and quick to start shouting how great he is and that he he is such a decent man and great leader even though he hasn't led a thing up to this point in his life and they don't know anything about him at all except that he's well spoken. Seriously, what if everything thats out there is not only true, but worse?
I don't know McCain or Obama personally, but at least McCain has a long record of public service to filter through and has sacrificed 5 1/2 years in captivity for his country so I'm pretty sure what he's made of. When is Obama or his suppoters going to star convincing me he's so good and why he's a great leader??? He certainly has shown he is a follower at the very least by not standing up to his pastor and that speech Tuesday was as itellectually dishonest as it was well given and should have been given a year or so ago.
People like me will decide this election!! Stop blanketly defending him and start convincing me why I should vote for him already.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 08:21 PM
8:21, Speechwriter. Don't you wish it were that simple? That he didn't have policies that are clearly laid out? That he didn't have more experience in elected office than Sen. Clinton? That a talking point repeated often enough could somehow overturn the math that he's won nearly twice as many states, leads in the delegate race and has 35 million cash on hand while Sen. Clinton has about $3 million (maybe).
Yep, it's just the speeches. Of course he's written two books and actually has legislative accomplishments, but your acknowledging that would require something you apparently lack: honesty.
Now in all honesty, I don't think you have much else to say.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 08:58 PM

lol, most of the states Obama has won will be carried by Republicans in November.
All the blue states that normally are carried by democrats like CA NY NJ PA are going to Hillary.
If Obama is going to win the nomination, he is going to get wiped out in November. If 25% of Hillary's voters abandon Obama, it's all over.
Like I said earlier, the smart move would be for Hillary to rachet it up. Make it clear to the DNC, that her supporters will either make her the nominee or they will go with McCain.
Obama has already pretty mech declared the same already. This way every super delegates will have to decide who has best chance to win in November.

You mean like the former democratic Gov Elliot Spitzer or the democratic US Congressman from LA, William Jefferson where the FBI found $90,000 in money hidden in his office freezer during a bribery probe?

A lot of Hispanics & caucasians will NEVER, EVER vote for Barrack Obama especially after the Wright fiasco + Obama's racist remark: "typical white person".
Like I said earlier, Obama's campaign ended the day the Wright videos went viral.
ps, Can you imagine if some video of Obama surface a few weeks before November that show him in church hollering it up? I bet you they are out there maybe even already in the hands of future 527's waiting for the swiftboating to begin.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 11:00 PM
My favorite bumper sticker was "Is It 2008 Yet?" That may yet be a sad statement for Democrats.
No matter the candidate--we Dems have gone from a slam dunk for the white house to a long three pointer for a win.
We need to settle on one winning candidate, and work hard to get that person--no matter who--elected. It is time for leadership, strong leadership before 2008 gets away.
Please let me wake and find that the un-leader of the DNC has fallen off the planet...cause he is the worst!

I'v see alot of attacks on other posters and candidates from you Obama kool aid drinkers, but you have still not named one actual thing other than a speech that the man has done. His 2 books? Seriously? One's based on a sermon by Rev. Wright for crying out loud! Hilarious. And I hope you aren't refering to his "clearly laid out policies" that he has a link to on his website (http://www.barackobama.com/issues/). You obviously havn't read a page of it. Crist has more soundly thought out policy initiatives.
Getting shot down may not be enough in your book, but how about rescuing other pilots during the USS forrester accident? Does that count? Or better yet, how about refusing release and willingly enduring several more years of torture just because you didn't want to be used by the North Koreans as a propoganda stunt. That one good enough for ya?
If this is the best you got come November, this will be easy.

Democrats in Florida are Republicans in other places, hence not surprising the Obama haters. There was an eralier poster to this blog at 8:21 that talked about their "undecided" "independendce". What a joke!, if there is anything all on this blog can agree on is to take the time to post on this blog, everyone has BIAS and agenda to push, the only thing the earlier poster at 8:21 proved was their self denial and their post confirmed it. Get uysed to the idea, the next presidnet will ne OBAMA, no mtter what the Florida republicans and those that are part of republican wing of the democratic party in florida think. Perhasp these folsk would be more comfortable if Obama was shining their shoes, that is thier natural mindset that they are haveing trouble admitting to a exist in a state of denial about. The good News, America si growing past this and that mindset is thankfully dying out as they are mostly the aged. Take it with you to your grave if you wish, just leave so this world can continue to be a better place.

Although I'm disappointed with the way the delegate issue has played out, on the whole, I'm proud that our DEM candidates have not resorted to cutthroat politics to gain the upper hand. I hope this is indicative of a forthcoming Obama/Clinton or Clinton/Obama ticket, which should be a powerful draw for all voters seeking to put an end to the Bush failure.
Republicans, on the other hand, are just playing their usual win-at-all-cost politics. I hope all voters in this country can make the connection between these tactics and the harm that they do to our nation by perverting the truth and in essence conning us into supporting politicians who have not the slightest intention of following through with the carefully crafted messages they use to get votes.
Let's put the US goverment back in the hands of the people. Vote DEM in 2008 and lets see what we can do to fix the dire circumstances caused by the last 8 years of heartless control by the GOP.

What is Obama's policy on the economy? How would he address the housing market? What does he think of recent actios by the Fed?
In all this bickering I have heard:
A) Nothing from him
B) Plenty from Hillary - enough for me to realize her economic policies would be disastrous
