Charlie Crist, chick magnet
TALLAHASSEE — Charlie is successful, good looking, charming, single. He lives in a mansion and drives a Mustang convertible. But "Charlie" just so happens to be Charlie Crist, 51-year-old bachelor governor of Florida. And lately a much talked-about potential running mate for Republican presidential nominee John McCain.
So when Crist earlier this month introduced 38-year-old socialite Carole Rome as "my girlfriend" at a Governor's Mansion reception, tongues wagged: Could she be 'the one,' the future first lady of Florida? Or even, a vice president's wife? Story here.

Eminis Front. Its an eminis front. Its a put on, a put on...

Happy Easter to all....

Has anyone else noticed that CC gets a girlfriend every other March, and goes through a breakup at the beginning of every other December? weeeeeeeird.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 08:48 AM
no 8:45, that would be Mike Fassano.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 09:34 AM
What does George think of her, I know Greer likes her, but what about the Maestro?. How did they meet?
Posted by: Tommy T | March 23, 2008 at 09:38 AM
I think this is his best looking beard yet
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 09:48 AM
Roger Daltrey - No wonder Pete hates you. You continually screwed up the lyrics of the songs he wrote. Correctly spekked, the lyrics are "eminence front" and refer to a person who puts on airs of superiority; like a lot od republicans I know...

A trimmed Beard at that...

If he's going to rent-a-babe, why opt for a rather obvious gold-digger? This doen't speak well for his common sense.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 10:33 AM
Pols and their trophy girls? Don't you girls have any self-esteem? And you guys... Can't you see how you are being used? With all the pressures of the job, I suppose they need to get away from it all but, come on, name me just one of these relationships that has lasted? Good luck my friend!!!
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 10:54 AM
How many new girlfriend's has Charlie had since he ran for Governor? How many want to bet they get him hitched up real soon. Dumb voters.

Oh, be still my heart! Another celebrity to worship.
Comments from the homophobes duly noted.
Posted by: Clyde | March 23, 2008 at 11:07 AM
Agreed! Fasano may be a little unusual but, that's his business! He's one of the hardest working public officials in Tallahassee and his "double dipping" legislation is a portrait in courage!!
Posted by: The Boss | March 23, 2008 at 11:16 AM
Fasano is the one who made the double dipping possible.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 11:18 AM
Come on, lets be realistic. All of these guys cheat on their wives and date these to boost their OWN self esteem. They know they are nobodies without the title.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 11:21 AM
Didn't know that 11:18. Assuming that's true, thanks for clarifying! Maybe he got religion? Either way, these facts are a lot more relevent than any personal attacks on a public official's private life!
Posted by: The Boss | March 23, 2008 at 11:26 AM
11:23: What a terrible generalization! Not all together untrue but, at the same time, not unlike the private sector's wealthy businessmen and certainly no revelation. Let's face it!! Most men are attracted to beauty (and fake body parts) and a lot of women are attracted to the allure of power and/or money! Absent this dynamic most men would chose an intelligent woman with a good personality... and women would chose a more attractive blue collar type with good paternal instincts...! politics or not, don't expect that to change anytime soon.

Guys can't get guys pregnant.

11:21 must have gotten dumped.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 12:01 PM
This one seems to be the most “handsome” girl he’s (?) dated so far. Although I must admit… “Charlie Crist, chick magnet” … has got to be the funniest damn headline I’ve read on this blog in a long time.
Love,

Alot of these pol(mainly reps) are closet homos anyhow. They have an attractive woman on their arm for show and engage in ranchy bathroom activity or gay porn. They seriously need to come out of the closet(or bathroom) for that matter and be who they are rather than lead these women on. They are seriously tormented souls. This is not just directed toward pol either.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 12:30 PM
isn't she also dating a Broadway actor in New York?
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 12:57 PM
Again another terrible generalization by 12:30. This is so typical of the times we live in. Define an entire class, group, race, gender or political party by the actions of a few bad apples. Whether its taxes, spending or social issues, politics is full of hypocracy!! Its truly the most bipartisan thread that runs through the process!! Craig, Foley, Allen, Spitzer, etc. are all tragic but, they are also illegal! Whatever CC may be or do, as far as we know, its not illegal!! Therefore, doesn't he have a right to his privacy?
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 01:04 PM
12:30 also must have gotten dumped.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 01:08 PM
I think it is ashame that so many men lead private lives where they engage in gay activity. If there wives found out, they would be ashamd, devasted, and emabarassed. Not to mention safety.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 01:11 PM
yes, 12:30 you must have been dumped and also gay and tormented yourself. Set yourself free.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 01:13 PM
Last I checked, CC is not married!!!!
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 01:15 PM
CC is not gay.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 01:19 PM
1:11, you are correct but, for god's sake, lets not get into all the things that are "ashame" about dating and marriage! We'd be here till 4th of July making that list and, when we were done, both genders would have plenty of room for "shame".
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 01:22 PM
These blogs show one thing , Complete jealousy. When CC is VP or gets elected to a second term as Governor, only a handfull of People will be in the game and on the inside with influence ( Lemeiux, Greer, Eikenburg and others who have been loyal) I can't wait for the day when the Anti-Crist bloggers are proven wrong.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 01:52 PM
She's hot! I love her too!
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 02:05 PM
Didn't Greer once manage a strip club and stalk the women who worked there?
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 02:26 PM
when is the last time his office released a social picture to the press? allows his family to go on record about his personal life? it's obvious crist is up to a little self-vetting here (McCain, VP, 2012).
seriously - this relationship is about as real as the easter bunny. to be VP or beyond he needs a wife, preferably with money (rome) and she wants to elevate her NY social standing (first lady of florida). they both win.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 02:27 PM
I would not vote for a President who chooses as his running mate, a person who knows not where his office is, waits for a poll to tell him what to wear, lies about his sexual preference, and pimps $240 as a job well done.
McAmnesty/McFraud ’08 … NEVER!
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 02:38 PM
The moment McCain selects and/or announces his VP, this NYer of a married woman will be out of the picture
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 03:58 PM
By 2010 all will see CC for who he really is, Lemeiux will no longer be allowed to use his "All access " Pass to make money off of the Tax payers and Greer will be out as Chairman and no longer able to keep people in line who tell the truth about Crist. Eric will have left to go work for a real Republican. Dark days are comming.

What a nice thread for Easter Sunday. Geez, SP Times.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 05:40 PM
2:27 you are a complete moron. Now get off the computer and do your homework.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 06:06 PM
10:54 & 11:21 you are vicious and nasty. I know plenty of politicians who are married, have been married for a long time AND have remained faithful!
To name a few: Lt. Gov. Kottkamp, Ag Comm Bronson, Sen Posey, Sen Atwater, Sen Webster, Sen Villalobos, Sen Baker, Rep Attkisson, Rep Galvano, Rep Bean etc. etc. I could go on a long time, but won't bore you just to prove you wrong.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 06:08 PM
So by posting on Easter, SPT hates Jesus? AND Republicans? This looks like true love to me.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 06:20 PM
Oh, give the Times a break. You don't think they would print anything of substance, do you?
From what I have seen, they love to stir up controversy. If the story is not controversial, then they make the headline sound like it is.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 06:24 PM
You tell em 6:08! Besides a lot of these guys are miserable at home. Maybe its a bad picture or maybe there's a lot more to this one than just good looks but, CC doesn't look out of his league with this one.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 06:47 PM
Who cares about Crist's private life - as long as he is in a consenting relationship with an adult - I don't give a toot!!!
What I care about is that my property taxes didn't "drop like a rock" the first time he, Pruitt, Rubio, Webster, Posey, etc. "fixed" it. Won't drop with their most recent "fix." My property insurance has gone UP, UP, UP!!! I'm on the hook for Citizens so rich people can have property insurance on their vacation beach homes. My PIP went UP, UP, UP!!!
So who cares a fig about who he sleeps with - I'm worried about keeping my home!!!!

Remember Rock Hudson? He took great photos with beautiful women. Even married one, all for show and maitain his hollywood masculine image. Microwave, perfect Charlie and this younger beauty seems questionable. Perfect political show? He wants to be on that VP ticket and will try and cover up all past and present speculation about certain preferences . Would you want this man to be your president. Its bad enough Florida's incompetnt governor.

Adam:
come back into reality my good man!
Talk about a softball article.
This is about as squishy as they get.
The article certainly isn't objective on any level, especially no mention of the rumors about Crist allegedly being gay that have been whispered for years and years amongst Florida political insiders in the state capital.
Broward New Times political beat writer Bob Norman broke a sensational story prior to the 2006 GOP primary regarding Crist and a young politically involved Ft. Lauderdale man who bragged to several individuals he had had sexual relations with Crist.
He later refused to go on record with the reporter then disappeared from Ft. Lauderdale for the months leading up to the primary and subsequent Gubernatorial election.
The story didn't break until a few weeks before the primary and no state newspapers would pick it up, so it largely went unnoticed.
Since then Crist has paraded through a series of "girlfriends" with NY goldigger Ms. Rome being the latest.
Additionally, the NY Post wrote in a recent article that Crist and Rome allegedly started dating prior to Ms. Rome becoming divorced from her husband. Not a very good example to set even if it was totally platonic.
Ironically at the same time, Chuck has to straighten up his resume as it pertains to his VP credentials if he is going to seriously be considered.
The national media won't be so friendly as the Florida media have been in fully vetting Chuck's personal life.
I really don't approve of Ms Rome or people like her who represent everything that is negative about American society today (greed, materialism, social climbing, pompous self promotion). I really don't think Florida conservatives and Christian evangelicals will take too kindly to her.
If Charlie's really in love with the woman than good luck to him but in the event he's attempting to hoodwink voters (he and McCain, if he were to choose him as VP) seriously run the risk of alienating about 30% of the Florida GOP electorate in the upcoming Presidential election.
It could be a major blunder for the McCain campaign.

The first two sentences left out a few things: Never owned a home, and has to park his boat at mom and dads.
Hey, he's sucked off the People's tit for 20+ years. I say its time for he found someone else to suck off of.

6:08 You forgot to add Tom Lee to that list.
Posted by: | March 23, 2008 at 08:50 PM
8:50 you drinking the lemonade again? Tom Lee is like Byrd. A nobody. Pathetic excuse for a politican, even worse for a man of integrity.
