Charlie Crist, chick magnet

TALLAHASSEE — Charlie is successful, good looking, charming, single. He lives in a mansion and drives a Mustang convertible. But "Charlie" just so happens to be Charlie Crist, 51-year-old bachelor governor of Florida. And lately a much talked-about potential running mate for Republican presidential nominee John McCain.

So when Crist earlier this month introduced 38-year-old socialite Carole Rome as "my girlfriend" at a Governor's Mansion reception, tongues wagged: Could she be 'the one,' the future first lady of Florida? Or even, a vice president's wife?  Story here.

He always does these bills that are no brainers that anybody would do, then does many things that you never know abut like amendments to help his bankers friends. I agree with 10:17 about Fasano. First of all, the guy's personal life is a factor. This from his bio: not-married/never married, no kids, lives at hom with mom, Catholic, youth sports coach. Now that is weird! Keep away from my boys, please!

Next, the guy is a mean-sprited and vindictive, petty little guy. Professionally, he has never amounted to anything, yet now as a legislator his personal finances seem to be doing just fine.

Fasano is not a man of the people. In his last election, less than 10% of his campaign funds came from individuals. The rest from special interest groups...

He supports things like handouts to professional sports teams (his last proposal was $2M a year for 30 years for each pro team in Fla.) that's $60M a year per team!

This is not someone who is in touch with reality, or with voters.

Mike Fasano is what is wrong with politics today. His being a closet homosexual is important because it shows what a liar he is. He's not the conservative steward protecting our people from government. And he's not someone you want around your kids!

And having her meet his family is a ruse as well. That way the parents can legitimately speak of having met her. This is bogus and he's not fooling anyone. The national scrutiny will expose this farce along with the rest of his major shortcomings. Ms. Rome is hardly someone I would want my kids looking up to.

McCain and his advisors will steer clear of Mr. Crist. He's a convenient money man right now. Given the mess the democrats have created for themselves, McCain isn't going to throw his chance at the election by picking someone like Charlie to ruin it for him.

If there's one thing the American people should have learned by the frequent and very public, over-the-top (to the point of being cartoonish) romances of Tom Cruise, it's this: if the media prints stories about how much a guy likes women, he really likes men.
