Ed. overhaul to Senate floor

The proposal to overhaul education governance with a constitutional amendement is headed to the Senate floor, following a fast track that had the proposal going only to higher education appropriations and a government operations committee.

And it just passed out of higher ed appropriations by a unanimous bipartisan vote, which came after former Republican Senate President Jim King conferred briefly with bill sponsor (and budget chief) Lisa Carlton and promptly pulled two possible no votes (Steve Oelrich and Charlie Justice) into an alcove. Maybe they were discussing how nice the weather is outside?

Justice, D-St. Petersburg, said his yes vote doesn't guarantee a yes on the floor.

Before the vote, King and Carlton had this public exchange, which drew knowing laughs:

King: Is this endorsed by Senator Pruitt? (Senate President)

Carlton: I believe I've read that somewhere

King: And are you the Senate appropriations chair?

Carlton: Yes.

let's have three cheers (hip, hip, horray).

Jeb and his right wing nutjob agenda are dead!

Go Gaetz!

Doesn't matter we will win this with the citizens. Everyone can see thru your charade.

The septic repairman just wants to be the Education Commissioner. You and your cronies just want to destory education in the state of Florida.

Why not bring back an elected Secretary of State, after all they are the chief elections officer of the state.

Yep, it should be re-named the "full-employement act for a President of the Senate who has a certificate in waste water from a community college in order that he might maximize his state retirement."

What happened to the conservative notion that things are best managed closest to their actual operation?

Who decided Tallahassee politicians in their rushed legislative sessions possessed the wisdom and means to micromanage every aspect of every school in the state?

If the Florida legislature never again passed a law regarding how our schools operate, our kid's education would be better for it.

Our so-called "conservatives" act like state-ists who can't leave any aspect of society outside their reach.

thanks Gomer Pyle (10:26) for your useless response!

I am enjoying reading all of the termie bashers that have proliferated in the past week or so. I was getting tired of having to refute all of his garbage by myself.

Hey, termie, how is Rubio's current plan (number #999,999,999 that he has endorsed) for property tax relief coming? How soon will we get a chance to vote on it?

Gomer (12:05)
that's only you and your buddy Goober (not the so called legions you mentioned).

at least Rubio's doing something unlike your empty headed Gov Charlie Crist.

didn't Chuck say A1 was "only the beginning"?

you are a true dunce Gomer. I hope you don't have offspring.

how's life out there in Seffner?

Sorry that you are having another bad day, termie.

As to whether I have offspring or not, I'll have to check with your mother.
