Gelber's re-vote pros and cons

Put down Rep. Dan Gelber, the House minority leader, as skeptical about the wisdom of a Democratic Party-sponsored re-vote.  "It just doesn't make sense right now," Gelber said in an interview in his office. "We're going to spend $10-million to put 10 more delegates in somebody's tally."

Gelber He also is concerned that the primaries in April and May could settle the race between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, only to have Florida's "do-over" election unnecessarily prolong matters until June 3. (Gelber is not committed to either candidate). He said there are some arguments in favor of it, chiefly the one that gives Florida a voice: "It's an insurance policy against Florida being unrepresented at a contested convention. That's the only real reason to do it."

Gelber outlines three arguments in favor of a re-vote and three against on his blog. Details here.

"It's an insurance policy against Florida being unrepresented…”

WHAT! … Did I just read that one of these lying, self-serving pinheads used the words “insurance policy”?

Holy crap! … Alert the media, call a press conference… Mrs. Awiggins, take a letter to Chuck… tell him to issue a memo that reminds all Legislate-whores that we banned the “I” and “P” words right after the ’06 election! ... and quick, someone leak a story to the press that we’re now focused on HB 848, banning low-cut blouses in elementary schools.

How much more time is going to be wasted on this? Florida had a primary. It was moved up as a direct result of action taken by our legislature and governor. Everyone was made aware of the repercussions for doing this. We had a record turnout for both the republican and democratic primary. Drop it for God's sakes. If the delegates are still needed at convention time, Howard Blowhard will have to decide then if he can allow them to be seated. Why this continues to be such big news is amazing.

Earth to Gelber- Did you not propose the vote by mail "run-off" FIRST? Now you changing your position. Whats new. Typical of tallahassee legislators- Get your act together, buddy-

The citizens had a chance to vote. If they decided to stay home because the candidates did not come here to smooze them then they are not good citizens and they do not deserve a second bite of the apple. The citizens who did the right thing and took time to vote because they charish America's freedom to vote, should not be discounted just because some lazy butts stayed home!! I voted---now make that Jan 29th vote count! If it doesn't---I will vote Republican because my party doesn't think Florida is important in the process. Iowa?? New Hampshire?? Give me a break!

oh but gelber, this isn't just about 10 more delegates in someone's tally - why, this is 10 million to ensure that every vote counts - right blah blah blah!

Who does gelber support?

3:17, you can switch now, your party isn't going to count the results of a contest that wasn't run. Any voter with the Internet would have reasonably believed that the results wouldn't count? Why? Because their national party, Sen. Clinton and Sen. Obama said so.
