Program for troubled girls takes budget wallop

Among the losers as Florida lawmakers cut the state's budget Wednesday: troubled teenage girls in the Tampa Bay area.

The PACE Centers for Girls, a nonprofit that helps runaway, delinquent and truant teens, saw its budget for the remainder of the fiscal year cut by nearly one-fifth on Wednesday as lawmakers voted to reduce state spending by $512-million to cope with lower-than-expected tax collections.

Gov. Charlie Crist, who can veto line items, said he will sign the bill, (HB 7009) which applies to the state fiscal year that ends June 30. (story here)

The only program supported by the GOP is a giveaway of our tax dollars to corporations.

GOP supporters take note - sooner or later, your fair weather friends are going to victimize you.

hey dumbars at 8:53 - if corporations pay higer taxes, then you pay more at the register - how stupid are you to really think they pay taxes - it's a cost like labor they pass to the consumer - so get off your high horse about making the "evil" coporations, which without there'd be no jobs, duh, pay more

hey dirtbag at 9:24 - your indefensible neocon corporate-friendly policies have ruined our economy so shut your self-righteous mouth and quit defending your heartless corporate buddies. Don't lecture me on dollars and cents because you and yours are a falure on all fronts.

Re: Your request for Fiscal Responsibility

“We’ll teach you to expect truth, integrity, fiscal responsibility, and ethical behavior from your leadership! … TAKE THAT!”

Eliminate Corporate Welfare, cut waste, eliminate “Pork”, and cap State and Local Drunken Sailor spending!

Problem Solved!

9:51 - couldn't hear everything through your whining - but it's your socialist do-gooder nanny state policies that got us in this mess and that have screwed up civilizations throughout all of history - and clearly you need a lecture on basic economics and liberty but i don't feel like wasting anymore time on you - enjoy your hate and envy filled life, i'm going to starbucks

10:28 I'm not whining - going to kick your facist asses at the polls for the next decade or so and try to help this country recover from your illegal wars and corporate giveaways, that's all.

10:44 - oh, dude, like, what are you gonna do after that, bro?

AFTER ALL, they are ONLY someone's daughters, sisters, nieces, arent they?

and these bozos probably have a lot to say about islam's "horrible treatment" of wimmins, dont they?

would jesus be happy with that vote?
would the bvm be happy with that vote?

oh wah! 1:59 - they can still go out and raise money from pribvate donors - when the budget gets 3 billion in the whole no program is sacred - but of course you wouldn't understand that because your pea-brain equates cutting budget money to radical islams abuse of women

This is a good program...but why was it in the state budget to begin with? The state budget should only include items with a statewide impact...too many local projects have been imbedded in the base budget...how about a true zero based budget process?

"...in the Whole...."

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!

who was it said: "you can tell the values of a society by the way it treats the most vulenrable"?

guess it matters not one wit to you when the "girls" come back abused, raped and/or with two or three dependent kids, eh?

we gots lots of money to deal with that issue, dont we jerk-wad?

instead of spending a mere fraction of that for prevention!!??

btw, you are so stupid you dont even understand my analogy!!

so, 4:35 equates society with the government - you my sad little friend are the stupuid one
