Reconsider another statewide primary?
At least one Democratic state senator, Ted Deutsch of Boca Raton, was not ready to close the door entirely on a do-over presidential primary in Florida . With no evidence the DNC will do anything to help resolve the Florida mess, Deutsch thinks the party has an obligation to further examine the possibility a privately funded statewide primary.
"This would be the Super Bowl of politics and we would have tens of millions of dollars injected into our economy. We owe it to the voters to at least explore it,'' said Deutsch, a Clinton supporter, noting that such major Democratic fundraisers as Gov. Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania and Jon Corzine of New Jersey had talked of raising the the money to pay for new primaries in Michigan and Florida.
But a new statewide election could cost $25-million, a number of counties switching to new voting machines would not be ready for an election by mid-June, and State House Speaker Marco has said has no interest helping rush through legislation to help Democrats appease Howard Dean. What's more, overseas military ballots would have to be mailed by April 19 and party rules require a 30 day comment period, so there is essentially to pull together a new state-run primary.
"We're basically out of time already,'' said state Senator Minority Leader Steve Geller. "I don't have a lot of hope for it."

Hey, Senator Deutsch, I believe this was already explored. Where have you been?

I'm an American citizen. My vote will count.

There is no way the Rep. Castor, Rep. Wexler and other Obama supporters will let the people of Florida help decide the Democratic nominee.
The Obama campaign just shut down the Michigan re-vote when it became clear that Sen. Obama was going to lose there as well.

12:51 ...
Spreading lies is no way to get what you want. The Obama campaign would win Michigan if there were time to campaign. The campaign did nothing to stop the re-vote in Michigan, try asking the Republican controlled Michigan state senate to pass something that would help the democrats.
BTW ... The complete Florida Democratic Congressional Delegation, the vast majority of them being Clinton supporters said NO to a re-vote, blame all of them not the Obama supporters.
Get the facts straight before you open your mouth, you sound like an idiot.

Obama is afraid to let the voters decide the election.

The votes aren't there to do it," said Sen. Buzz THOMAS (D-Detroit), the co-chair of the Barack OBAMA campaign in Michign.
Support for the primary is weak for numerous reasons, the biggest reason being Obama's reluctance to sign off.

I understand that the Obama campaign is trying to stop the Florida re-vote, so, I thought you might want to hear what there campaign is saying about Michigan.
"An overwhelming number of members had concerns and unreadiness to go this route," State Sen. Tupac Hunter, an Obama supporter.

It's over... give it up. The DNC will decide Florida in a couple months.

I agree it is over. Your votes wont count but I will still win.

Remember all of those "purple fingers" held aloft by the grateful citizens of Iraq....so happy to have been permitted to have voted......
Well, Mr Howard Dean...and your cohorts...Here is my Purple Finger!
The Florida legislature decided that our Presidential Preference Primary would be held on January 29, 2008. Guess what? We voted!
Meanwhile, you somehow wheedled the Democratic Presidential Candidates into "not campaigning" in Florida....and also "not to do any fundraising" in Florida. So they didn't. We Floridians were treated to the (lengthy) spectacle of watching Clinton, Obama, Edwards et all...campaigning elsewhere.....like in Boone, Iowa -- where we (CSPAN addicts) got to watch John Edwards do his stump speech at quaint little places like "The Gigglin' Goat" restaurant.
ON JANUARY 29, FLORIDA VOTED.
Meanwhile, the Republicans (who still seem to know how to conduct their presidential nominating campaigns on a more or less sane basis).....were merrily campaigning in FLORIDA; they were FUND RAISING in Florida....
and in addition, they let such nice 'independents' like Senator Joe Lieberman do campaigning and fundraising on behalf of REPUBLICAN Senator John McCain! -- IN FLORIDA!
So, Dr Perfidious Howard Dean......perhaps the GOP will award you their "honorary Man of the Year" award.
JOB #1 FOR FLORIDA DEMOCRATS: Dump Howard Dean.......and let our votes count!

4:10 Although the candidates pledged not to campaign in Florida, they were allowed to have fundraisers. Both Clinton and Obama were here several times to grab checks, but not to talk to the 'little guy.'
